Near our Hostal we do not have favelas, we have people who live in modest/humble homes but not favelas. Yes there is a rum factory close to us, but it is located at approximately 1km from our hostal. It is a rum and candy that is certified to abide to all environmental laws internationally. To clarify the beach area comment, our beach is in the shape of a bay and many people from Cardenas and clients that we have had, have swam in this beach many times and more frequently in the summer. There are also fisherman that enjoy our waters as it is rich in fish. Let me be clear, you visited us in the middle of a "norte" or cold front, and it is also the middle of winter in Cuba, so you cant expect the beach to be cristal clear or in perfect conditions. If you still doubt it i have pictures that I will make public that can prove this. You also had at your disposal our pool.
Secondly: The guest arrived earlier than what was expected, which is fine because we have a flexible check in and check out time, and the room was ready and perfectly clean in less than 15 minutes after your arrival.
Thirdly: We recognize that the second day of their stay, due to a communication mistake between staff shifts, their was no water pressure for about 30 minutes no more than that and it took only a few minutes to have full water pressure as well as hot water.
Fourthly: Yes I was present at the time of your arrival, and i did clarify that if you needed me any of my staff member could call me and in a question of minutes I could be present. And to clarify, im 100% Cuban and so is the rest of my family and staff. How you arrived to that conclusion simply makes no sense to me. Regarding transportation, im not clear as in what or how we gave false information on. When a taxi was requested, it took less than 20 minutes in picking up the clients.
Fifth: In reference to the service of hair dryer, it is the one service we did not have in the room, however keep in mind that for the price you are paying you are vulnerable to not having all the services a 5 star hotel provides. Never the less, we now have hair dryers in all the rooms.
Sixth: As for the noise, I never got any complaints verbal or by report coming form the guests about this issue.
Seventh: Upon arrival, we clearly ask if our guests will be having breakfast, as it is optional, the next day and the exact time that you our guests would like to sit down and have breakfast. We strictly ask for this, as our restaurant and bar open up at noon, and if breakfast is not requested by the guest, then we do not require our kitchen and bar staff to be present before noon.
Eight: To clarify, this guest broke the door handle, the cleanliness that they showed was below standards, also made excuses for not wanting to pay for certain drinks of the minibar. I gave them 3 starts to be kind, I should change it to 2 stars overall and simply for the comment that they liked or food.
I think i made a mistake in giving thumbs up to this guest or recommend them to any other host. I gave them a decent or polite recommendation, however if i could i would change my review and not recommend them to any host on airbnb. Their attitude towards things and treatment of my staff was simply unacceptable.
We are open always to suggestions and comments and are always happy and motivated to improving our services we have at hand for our guests, however we have never lied or stated false information about our hostal.
