Neighbourhood highlights

Located on the edge of the famous Père-Lachaise cemetery, the flat benefits from the proximity of this immense park - the largest in Paris. Père-Lachaise Cemetery is probably the best-known cemetery in Paris, if not the world. And it's easy to see why when you visit it. Although Paris is full of attractive cemeteries (Montparnasse, Montmartre, Batignolles), this one is the most surprising, and the most beautiful, in many ways.
Firstly, of course, because it is home to a huge number of celebrities from all over the world. But also because as you stroll along its cobbled streets, you'll come across a huge number of plant species, something you wouldn't necessarily expect to find here. Cherry, maple, chestnut, weeping willow, walnut... Père-Lachaise cemetery has around 5,000 trees representing some 50 different species spread over an area of 44 hectares. Which makes it the largest green space in Paris!
Not to be missed during your visit:
The tomb of Allan Kardec, founder of spiritualism, whose grave, the most decorated with flowers in the cemetery, is a Breton dolmen.
The neighbouring tombs of Molière and Jean de la Fontaine, who died in the 17th century and were transferred here to make the cemetery more attractive.
The grave of Victor Noir, a journalist killed by Napoleon III's cousin and a symbol of the "recumbent" funeral style.
The graves of Jim Morison and Oscar Wilde, although these are now protected by fences due to repeated damage.
The superb tombs of Théodore Guéricault and Frédéric Chopin.

At the heart of a lively district, it is also close to other friendly neighbourhoods such as Belleville and Ménilmontant.
There are plenty of shops nearby and a twice-weekly market. You'll also find plenty of cosy cafés and good restaurants, a cinema, a theatre and the famous concert halls La Maroquinerie and La Bellevilloise.
