A large 18th century former corn mill in a quiet hamlet, mixing the best of old and new to form a unique house with the wow factor! It is very spacious inside, with two wood-burners, and decking overlooking the stream and woods at the back. It is only 25 minutes from the Pembrokeshire coast path, and 15 minutes from superb walking the Preseli Hills. There is plenty of parking space, with room for up to five cars to park off the road, so ideal for groups.

The space

Huge, very well-equipped kitchen, living space and master bedroom with exposed stone walls and beams. The kitchen has its own wood-burner, as does the massive sitting room. There are plenty of games, books, jigsaws and DVDs available. There is a separate, downstairs games room, ideal for teenagers to chill in. There are four bedrooms. The Master bedroom is massive, and has a superking bed, an ensuite and a private balcony. There is another double bedroom upstairs, and two twin bedrooms each with two single beds. The mill is in a beautiful, peaceful setting, overlooking our own stream bank, with a path down to the stream itself. Outside is a large decked area with big table and seating, and barbeque available. Just the sound of the stream as you enjoy the sunshine outside...or sometimes the Welsh rain!

Guest access

The whole house and garden/decking is yours to enjoy, including the stream, although the opposite bank is out of bounds.

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Star Mill - it met all of our hopes and went way beyond. Beautifully furnished and very well equipped, we wanted for nothing. And the location! Not only is there a stream bubbling by, perfect for sitting next to with a coffee in the morning, but the rolling countryside is laced with public footpaths through remote spaces. We also travelled to a couple of beaches (Poppit Bay is great), and to the Blue Lagoon water park to the south. The lower floor is cooler than the uppers, because it's a tall house, but Christopher has provided a tower heater just in case. He was also fast to respond to any queries. We would love to return, no hesitation.

Beautifully renovated old mill, my immediate impression on entering was 'wow'. Very well equipped with a fantastic huge kitchen and large cosy lounge. The kitchen was especially nice to sit in with the stove on full blast while cooking up dinner. The setting was wonderfully quiet, with a babbling brook running directly along the mill. Lots of touristy things to do - castles, beaches etc - all within 30 to 60 mins drive. Also good walking, although a bit of patience/perserverence is needed to find some paths marked on the map! Local pub (The Butchers Arms - 1.5 nice walk up the lane miles if you feel energetic) is no frills but cosy and welcoming - we loved it. Very easy dealing with the owner - Christopher - no fuss. Altogether, great value, great place and highly recommended.

Fantastic house with tonnes of space for 8 people. Amazing kitchen space and plenty of plates/bowels to not have to put the dishwasher on after every meal (like some places). The fires were brilliant and cosy. There are lots of steps in this property, this was no problem for us but could be for some. We were lucky enough o get the master bedroom (won over the other couple in a darts match in the brilliant games room!!!). The master room was a real treat, better than any hotel room with the massive bed, en-suit and riverside balcony, very special indeed! A few good places to visit within 20 minutes but many places were a little further afield. All in all a fantastic place to hire and I would recommend it. Thanks

Stayed in Star Mill for 5 fantastic nights over Christmas (two families). It is such a beautifully renovated house, warm and cosy, with every convenience you could possibly need. Kitchen very well equipped, lounge has two very comfy sofas, master suite very luxurious and all rooms a good size. A perfect location for exploring the many beaches and coastal walks in Pembrokeshire. Definitely want to visit again, so much more to explore in the area and the house is so relaxing! Great communication with owner.

I am a university lecturer, but have a love of the countryside and try to get away from the city as often as possible, often on my bicycle! I have an interest in old buildings and in sustainablity, particularly in the architectural field.
