Coming to Sant'Ermo is just like coming home for me. The quiet village with the lovely scenery, the friendly people, the warm colours. My house and little garden is a perfect haven and at the same time in the heart of all the best Italy has to offer.

The space

The heart of my house is the kitchen, which has a rustic Italian kitchen with an old fireplace. There is access to the balcony from the living-room and from one of the two bedrooms. The view is no less than wonderful. Each bedroom has its little bathroom, and there is a washer in the kitchen. You dry your clothes from the balcony. The couch in the living-room doubles as an extra bed for two persons. There is also a foldaway baby cot and a stroller available.

Guest access

You have access to the garden through the technical room downstairs. On the spacious terrace you can sunbathe or bring some chairs for enjoying the outdoors.

Interaction with guests

Our friend Elena will be your contact when living at our house. She is our next-door neighbor and has excellent knowledge of the area and can answer the most questions. She and her husband Francesco also offeres an Italian cooking course in their home. You can cook and have a nice meal in an Italian home, a genuine experience.

Other things to note

It is possible to buy wine in the village, but there are no ordinary shops. The nearest little grocery store is in Casciana Alta some 5 min. drive away. CA also has butcher. I recommend you to ask Elena about where to shop, she works at an eco-farm and also knows where to buy the best wines.

Nice flat, stayed there with two friends to explore the surrounding and sit on the balcony to drink wine and talk. The kitchen is great, top notch oven. No a/c but there are enough fans available. The village is lovely, there is a little winery and everything seems pretty cozy. I truly recommend it!

This place is really nice and the view is outstanding. Really an italian dream! Even though the apartment is approximately a 45 minute drive from Pisa it is totally worth it because you will discover so much more of Tuscany from this location. If you hesitate about renting a car and drive during your holiday, dont hesitate because it wil open up so much more for you and you will never regret it. Driving in Italy can be scary at first but you will soon get the hang off it. This apartment have everything you need and the host-provided information about things to see and do is really helpful. Wi-Fi works and despite being a bit slow Netflix and such works. The village of Sant Ermo is really nice, quiet and beautiful. Restaurants, stores, ice cream, thermal bath and other things can be found in the nearby villages. Only thing of note is that the local church is an armlenght away and the bells go off in the morning at 07:00 and then every half and whole hour but sounds beautiful, even more when they play a chime.

Everything was just perfect. Heidi is a very nice, warm and helpful host. We contacted her via phone and email – she explained everything very clearly, so we got all the information we needed to get to Tuscany and survive there ☺ (e.g. how to arrive, where to shop and what to see and visit in the area (including maps and leaflets). Elena - Heidi’s friend in Sant’Ermo– showed us around the house and gave us printed information about local restaurants and events (thank you Elena). Our stay in Heidi’s “Italian Dream” house was unforgettable and our memories will keep us warm during the wintertime. Everything was even better then we expected. We hope to come back there.

Litt problematisk at lokalbefolkninga bare snakka italiensk.

I enjoy getting to know new people. I love travelling, and especially to Italy where I feel at home. I speak a little and understand some Italian. I understand German pretty well and speak some. Nature is my favourite place. I love music and litterature, and I write - preferrably poetry. I've published two collections of poems myself. I am a grandmother of two boys and have been with my husband since I was 17.My parents are dead and I have no siblings. My husband and I work together and spend our days together. I love his cooking, and we eat a lot of fish. 5 things I "cannot live without" - that would be: family, nature, friends, litterature, music
