The space

Rent the Dockside level of this hand crafted, completely custom beach house situated directly on the sea with covered deck area & beach access (Topside level also available to rent.) Nestled in the intimate Shoreside community, this house and the close knit neighbors surrounding it were part of the original and only commercial fishing access on the central coast active since the 1930's. Steeped in history, guests can still experience a feeling for the old days as parts of the larger docks are still used for fishing and surfing by the original families that founded the community almost 75 years ago. The house itself has been lovingly and painstakingly renovated while honoring the community's history and the unique flavor of the area. There are vintage brass fixtures & the original softwood floors throughout, hand hewn beach rock columns, floor to ceiling windows, open beam ceiling, Venetian plastered walls, chef's kitchen with Viking stove, marble counter tops and lovely vintage cabinetry. Guests will enjoy breath taking coastal views from a Japanese soaking tub. Rest in a cozy queen size bed nestled next to a cast iron fireplace making this a truly unforgettable experience.

Guest access

Guests will have access to the lower unit with private entrance. Use of covered outdoor patio space and unique lounge areas, full size gas BBQ as well as the deck area directly in front of the unit. There is also shared outdoor hot shower & washer/dryer available.

Interaction with guests

Guests will be greeted at the check in time, given a brief tour of the property & sign the rental agreement and release of liability at this time and guests will be able to ask any questions they may have. Contact/emergency numbers will be provided for the Guests, should they have any additional questions.

Other things to note

As the Pedro Point Boat House is in a private beach front community, out of respect for the neighborhood, its long time residents and the local environment, we adhere strictly our maximum occupancy limit of 2-4 people. Any extra guests without prior arrangement and explicit written consent will be considered a violation of the rental agreement and you will be required to vacate the premises immediately. We thank you for your understanding and adherence to this rule so that we can preserve the unique lifestyle and others may continue to enjoy the Boat House in the future.

The home is part of the private Shoreside Community and part of an active coastal lifestyle centered around the original founding families who have fished these waters for many years. Areas of the community are still used occasionally today for private fishing and surfing by these families and their closest friends and beach access for all has been preserved via a narrow right-of-passage easement for the length of the community connecting all the houses and properties. We have taken every step to afford as much privacy as possible however guests may occasionally see residents use the shared entrance and easement as they pass by. The owner also retains the far opposite end of his own 100'+ of dock space for personal use with his family. However, all reserved use spaces as described are for the sole and exclusive use of the Guests at all times.

There are many staircases throughout the property and a multi level switch back staircase leading down to the Boat House entrance at the Dockside level. At dock level you will find larger spacing between deck planks consistent with standard dock/wharf decking. On the interior of the Dockside unit, the bed/designated sleeping area is located on the main floor of the unit, adjacent to the cast iron stove. A queen size inflatable mattress is available for additional guests, up to 4 people. Guests have asked to use the loft for their sleeping areas as well as the outdoor king size suspended hammock, and you may also, which is cleared when signing our rental contract and release of liability waiver.

Due to the unique location and proximity to coastal zone, this property may not be suitable for people who have difficulty of movement, walking, climbing stairs; over steps; ladders and/or uneven surfaces, walking trails, coastal beach activities or exerting themselves in any physical manner. In the event this applies to our Guests, you will need to inform us so that we may properly assist you.
