Spacious room located in a beautiful waterfront town overlooking the Hudson River and the amazing NYC skyline. My home is half a block from the Boulevard East, where public transit takes you into the heart of NYC's Times Square within 10-15 minutes.

The space

Spacious, sun-filled room available. The space is in a safe neighborhood in a town that is just 10 minutes to the heart of NYC - Times Square. We are closer to Manhattan than the NYC boroughs (Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx). We are 20 minutes away from Newark International Airport and roughly 60 minutes to JFK. The space is located a few steps away from Boulevard East which is where buses run 24/7 into NYC. There is a spectacular view of the New York City skyline from Boulevard East.
Apartment located on the first floor of a house on a quiet block. Guests will have their own private bedroom with a super comfy Queen-sized bed, full-length mirror and nightstand. The room is perfect for a couple, 2 friends or a single traveler.
You will be sharing the common areas with myself. Common shared areas include a nice sized furnished living room and dining room, a fully-functional kitchen and a bathroom with all the toiletries you may need. Everything is kept super clean.

Guest access

There is a television with basic channels in your guest room and in the living room. There is no Cable TV, only basic channels. You will also have high-speed internet access. Fresh sheets, towels, and bathing essentials will be provided. Should you need to use any of the following, they are in the apartment: a blow-dryer, an iron, a coffeemaker.

What is not included:
Meals. - You are welcome to shop for groceries for yourselves, store them in the refrigerator/freezer, and use the stove/oven/microwave as you please. Help yourselves to water as well as coffee, tea, sugar and creamer that are stored in the kitchen cupboards. There are supermarkets and convenience stores within a few blocks if you wish to do any grocery shopping. I also keep menus from a variety of great local restaurants including Thai, Indian, Spanish, and American food which deliver to the apartment and some of which are also within walking distance.

Interaction with guests

As much or as little as my guests desire. I love interacting with guests so I'm happy to hear about your excursions! I can help you with recommendations about places to see, things to do and places to eat. I work most of the day and am usually home only early in the morning and late in the evening but am always available to help by phone.

Paola was really lovely and the apartment was very comfortable. The journey to New York was quite painless. The only issue we had was the journey back - it always took quite a long time as the drivers wait until the bus is full before leaving, and Port Authority bus terminal isn't the nicest place to wait. It's worth considering that you can't use the Met pass on the bus to New Jersey, so it was $12 every time the two of us wanted to go to Manhattan and back. We had a great week overall.

I would recommend staying here if you are visiting New York for a short period of time. Paola's house is located literally 3 minutes walk from the best view of New York! There is an amazing park where people from all over the world travel to see the view. We didn't get a chance to meet Paola in person as we stayed for only one night, but the communication with her was good and we didn't have any problems at all. We didn't do any sighting in New York so I can't tell what commuting to New York is like.

I had a great stay in Paola's apartment. It is lovely and exactly like the pictures. It's a nice neighbourhood and the local buses are the perfect way to get to the city. The view of the New York skyline from the end of the street is great. I met Paola and she was extremely kind and friendly and answered any questions I had quickly. I would stay here again and recommend it to others.

Paola has a beautiful home and I would definitely recommend staying here for a trip to New York. The skyline from the end of the road was breathtaking. Paola could not have done anymore for us. Everything was there for a perfect vacation. If I go back to New York I would stay here without any hesitation. The trip into New York was very easy on the local bus, but stay away from rush hour !!!!!! We are from the UK and it was a pleasure to meet Paola and her family.

We really enjoyed staying at Paola’s place for the last leg of our European vacation, with a stopover in NYC. We flew into Newark, and it was about a $25 Lyft Ride to Paola’s home. We were able to walk down the street only about 15 minutes, for some food and groceries to eat breakfast on both days. The bus stopped right down the street, to take us across Lincoln tunnel into the city at Port Authority, for easy access to the Subway or walking to many local sites. Paola’s great directions made it easy for us to find the right bus and have the right change ready for each ride ($3 each way). We really appreciated the comfy foam mattress and hot tea available for use each morning. The space is very clean, comfortable and organized. Paola leaves out towels and provides toiletries for your convenience. She was unfortunately not there to meet in person, but she promptly replied to all messages and made sure we had what we needed from afar. The view of the NYC skyline from the end of her street is stunning and especially at night. If you’re looking for a better option than staying in NYC but still want to be close, while having access to public transportation and great hospitality, then book with Paola. You won’t be sorry!

This has to be such a mixed response . I mean- the place is amazing! Everything was beautiful and the room was nice too. We got our puppy along and he was pretty happy with the place and adjusted well. The one issue that kind of ruined it for us was the Parking situation. Now, according to Paola's listing -there is parking on premises. But it's actually on street in front of the house. Even that would have been perfect but unfortunately all through our stay her neighbours kept parking their car in front of the house and we were unable to park ours. She suggested that we park in her backyard by driving but her landlord parked her car in the alley - causing us 2 hours of nuisance and an ensuing fight with her landlord who refused to take the car out on the first request. It was resolved in the end but the worst part was we tried calling her a zillion times!! And she never got back to us. I wish this did not happen to ruin our stay as due to this we were late for our conference by two hours. Setting this aside- the place was great , neat and clean. Excellent location and very close to transportation.

Response from Paola:
I am sorry about the unusual parking trouble you encountered which must have been due to the Thanksgiving holiday weekend you stayed during. It seems that visitors in town to visit their families were desperate for parking and risked leaving their vehicles on private parking properties. Glad you enjoyed otherwise. Thank you for your stay.
