This little hideaway is perfect for a couple or a couple with children. The upstairs is one open room with two futons and a desk and could technically sleep 4 small people on the full size futons. While small, the home comes well equipped and the master bedroom is very comfortable. The area is residential and very picturesque and quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed having campfires at night and the sounds of nature. It is located within a couple of miles of a grocery store (Ingles) and there are restaurants within a few miles as well as in town in Hendersonville. Matthew is a wonderful host and provided a lot of great information about the area. If you have a chance to go, make sure to stop by The Charleston Inn in Hendersonville for dinner. It's fabulous!

Matthew's Peaceful Mountain Hideout was everything we wanted for our relaxing vacation spot. We loved this quiet place nestled in the woods where we could get some porch sitting in, sleep peacefully at night, enjoy comfortable and clean accommodations, make our own meals, and yet still be close enough to the surrounding towns, sights, and all that Asheville (about 37 minutes away) has to offer. His place is dog friendly with a fenced in pet area too! Matthew is very easy to communicate with and he had plenty of materials to get you acquainted with the area. We loved staying here and look forward to coming back one day!

Matthew's Mountain Hideaway is an exceptional Airbnb experience. It is exactly as stated in the description. Private, quiet, and relaxing. The gravel road was delightful, as funny as that sounds. Listening to the birds, insects and frogs without the intrusion of city noise was also lovely. The Hideaway was remote, but not so remote that a grocery was within a 5-10 minute drive, and many outdoor activities, shopping, breweries, eateries all within easy driving distance. Top notch experience!

This place was awesome! We arrived late Thursday night(12:30am) and the directions Matthew gave us to get into the house were great. We felt like we had a private cabin in the mountains and were still close to everything the area has to offer. We had a friend decide last minute that he wanted to come and Matthew was kind enough to let him stay with no hesitation. There was a nice patio to sit and drink coffee on, shower was clean and the water warm. Matthew provided towels, linens, pillows coffee pot/filters, wifi, just about everything we needed. There is also a hose on site, if you are a Mountain biker, you know how important that is. This was the perfect place to set up base camp. Thank you again, Matthew. We had a fantastic time!

Matthews place would have been a charming and peaceful place to visit. However, upon arriving at the home, it was obvious that the house hadn't been cleaned since the last gusts that stayed there. There were used towels all over the bathroom, someone else's used hygiene products in the trash can, the floor had leaves all over it, the linens were balled up on the beds (we still aren't sure if those were clean or not), and the kitchen counters had sticky stuff on them. Matthew did get back to us, using the app rather than calling back, only after we had been in touch with Airbnb customer service. He did try to rectify the situation at that point by offering a hefty discount and cleaning service, but it was a little too late. My fiancé and I, as well as our dog, would have appreciated a clean home on arrival. We ended up asking for a full refund which was given by Matthew, but we still lost $80 in Airbnb "taxes and fees." We went to a pet friendly hotel in downtown Asheville that ultimately didn't fit our needs and ended up cutting our vacation very short. We left the very next morning. That was one hell of a trip to the mountains, and not in a good way. As first time Airbnb users, we were extremely disappointed and won't be booking with Airbnb again.
