A beautiful and unique self contained private space, set in a walled garden, only a couple of minutes walk from Littlehampton's award winning blue flag East Beach.

The space

This unique rental is a WW2 converted air raid shelter, situated in the garden of your hosts. As a completely self-contained property, the air raid shelter has its own private entrance and includes the use of a sheltered, walled garden where you can enjoy the seaside sunshine and the sound of seagulls, but without the sea breeze.
The air raid shelter has been lovingly converted into a beautiful bijou space, perfect for couples on a romantic mini-break, or as a retreat for writers or artists seeking solitude from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Free Wi-Fi is available but once you close the door on your own little hideaway, you may find you’re happy to switch off your phones and laptops, at least for a while!
The accommodation is comprised of two rooms: a double bedroom with small kitchen area, and a bathroom with a large roll-top bath, bubble bath included! (the priority here is indulgent relaxation rather than slaving over a hot stove).
The double bed has cotton bed linen, luxury feather duvet and pillows, (this can be changed for guests with allergies) with storage underneath for suitcases. There is a small desk/table in the same room and a small library of books and dvds with a television which has an integrated dvd player. The compact but well-designed kitchen area includes a small fridge, kettle, toaster with warming rack, and a cafetiere. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, sugar and milk are provided, along with a breakfast hamper offering a choice of croissants/bagels, white/brown bread, marmalade/cream cheese and apple/orange juice.
The separate bathroom is tastefully decorated, and towels are provided, all the better to enjoy the wonderful roll-top bath, which can accommodate two – although if you want to swim, you’ll have to head to the beach!
Despite the secluded feel of this property, it is centrally located, with the award-winning Littlehampton beach only a 5-minute stroll away. Also within easy 10-minute walking distance are plenty of cafes and restaurants (including the stunning East Beach Café), the town centre, and the train station.
Your hosts are Annie and Rad Radburn, who will be more than happy to advise you on what Littlehampton has to offer, but equally will leave you alone to enjoy the space in peace if that’s what you need. Rad is a local artist whose work is displayed in the air raid shelter and is for sale, should you wish to take home a memento of your stay. Rad also undertakes private commissions, including portraits. If you are planning a romantic stay, Rad and Annie can by prior arrangement provide flowers/champagne/chocolates etc or for late arrivals a flask of home made soup with bread and cheese. Please feel free to get in touch and discuss your requirements.

We loved our stay here. It was so super cosy and Annie and Rad were so lovely. She even let us in her home to see her new born kittens! Perfect little place to hide away from real life for a few days! Lots of lovely little touches, and Annie even offered to post back my cardigan I left there! Highly recommend, gorgeous place and fabulous hosts. Thank you!

Annie's place was just as described - small, but perfectly compact containing all the essentials and decorated beautifully. The bed was very comfy too so we had two very restful nights! During our stay, Annie respected our privacy, but was there to hand in case we needed anything. Annie was flexible with check in (we arrived slightly later than originally planned) and we were able to park for free on the side of the road outside the accommodation. WiFi was working perfectly. The place was 5 minutes walk from the beach. Thanks to Annie's suggestion, we ate brunch at a cafe called Toast, which was delicious and affordable. We had a lovely meal at 47 Mussel Row on our second night there - the Thai style crab curry with local crab was excellent. There was also some bands playing at the local pub on Friday and Saturday night. All in all, this was a great get-away destination for relaxing in a quiet little town in a cosy, well equipped accommodation. Many thanks to Annie & Rad.

Annie was very welcoming and had left lots of lovely goodies for me to enjoy (she even kindly accomadated my gluten free request) The shelter was clean and very sweetly decorated and the bed was comfortable. The roll bath was a real luxury too. There was also a lovely garden space to sit in and enjoy. 2 mins from the seafront and harbourside. Great range of places to eat near by.

We had a lovely, relaxed stay at Annie's place. It was well equipped and Annie provided us with everything we needed such as breakfast, tea, milk, butter etc all we had to do is enjoy our stay. They welcomed us as we arrived and offered they're parking space to us. Annie showed around the place and continued to keep in contact via Air bnb. The Location is great 5mins away from the beach and town which we found quite easily with Annie's help. We found the place very cosy and very relaxing. Thankyou again Annie.
