Architectural styles of Pigneto
The historical part of Pigneto built between 1920 and 1940 is based on numerous architectural styles, dall'umbertino eclectic, from baroque to art nouveau, often representing them in economic forms through stucco, but sometimes also using travertine.
Of course, since the building almost always popular, most is still somewhat anonymous.
After the war will join several other buildings in an intensive and popular; the entire area is therefore characterized by the presence of building types among their heterogeneous mainly residential:
buildings of industrial architecture in the area, focused towards Porta Maggiore and the northernmost part of the village and reused or reused in various ways.
the beautiful area of cottages in Liberty (kudos to the company for Termini railway workers for the design of public housing that had).
Even if the style base used for the villas was indeed poor "embellishments", many were customized according to the taste of those years in the style liberty geometric; these embellishments were obtained with the use of only the plaster and stucco reliefs and then according to one embodiment in fact very economical; characteristic was the use of squaring of windows and doors, and small portions of walls that were maintained with a plaster left rough rustic and using geometric friezes, usually square and sometimes diamonds and circles, highlighted by a different color ; normally the houses are two-tone: a light color, usually white, but sometimes you can see a yellow light ocher (I do not know 'whether original or contemporary liberal interpretation); with light colored were colored small portions of walls enclosed by stucco, stucco windows and doors and the corners of the building; for the bulk of the area they used a pastel color medium dark, usually on red ocher or yellow ocher.
