Possessing an enviable location, where views include both legs of Lake Atalanta, this custom, executive home in the woods, 1 mile from Historic downtown Rogers, rises high above the creekbed, offering both privacy yet easy access to enchanting NWA!

The space

Find an island of tranquility, an oasis, virtually in the heart of thriving NWA! Located on a 1/2 acre of wooded area, surrounded by mature trees and a wonderful view of a serene lake, deer visit regularly.
This three story, midcentury modern home will remind you of a Frank Lloyd Wright structure with a modest entry as gateway to a magnificent open air living space. There is nothing cookie cutter about this one of a kind, custom home. Lots of room exists for a large family or set of families to gather both indoors and outdoors yet plenty of opportunity for quiet retreats and privacy exist as well.
The master bedroom on the first floor makes it easy assess for elderly parents or physically challenged guests. This room has a queensize bed in it. A second master upstairs provides an extra measure of seclusion and a kingsize bed. Cork flooring is easy on the joints and exists throughout the home. Each bed room is unique, offering its own charm.
A second bedroom on the main floor has 2 twin beds. A third bedroom, just a short stairway down is complete with library shelving in the loft, its own veranda and a fullsize bed. A potential 5th bedroom exists on the opposite end of the house off the family room with another queensize set of mattresses. If all this isn't enough room and a guest wanted an authentic "air" B n B experience an inflatable air mattress is available.

Guest access

Living/dining great room, kitchen, laundry room, exercise room, 5 complete bedrooms, 3 baths, separate family room, solariums.
Guests trained in the care and use of such a fine instrument may utilize the baby grand piano. Please supervise children around said piano and allow no food or beverage near it.
It is an idyllic spot with a public park, creek and spring fed lake for fishing especially known for outstanding catfish, playground equipment, bike trails all within walking distance. Catfishing is best done around midnight we are told. So our spot would allow the ambitious fisherman to just walk down the hill and back home after a great night's catch!
A multimillion dollar restoration there has just been completed! If you booked last year during the period the nature preserve was down, mention that and we will give you 10% off your new booking.
The swimming pool, green space and circle drive across the street are no longer owned by us and are not part of the rental.
There are lots of built ins in the bedrooms. Each has two or three empty drawers for your use. Please leave the drawers with our personal effects unused.
The television downstairs is analog and is useful for DVDs and tapes. The smaller television on the kitchen desk will give you local channels for the news. Since there is internet but no cable, please plan accordingly. The area does have several sports bars where many games can be viewed.
Extra services available to guest but charged separately:
Offsite infrared sauna session is available for $75/30 minutes.
Private swimming, ballet or yoga lessons available $25/person for 25 minutes--all ages addressed. Otherwise, only the pool view is part of the rental.
Massage therapist will make house calls for $75 (to be collected by the therapist)

Interaction with guests

We can have as much or as little interaction as our guests like. In our younger years we have both traveled extensively, me as a foreign exchange student and Jim as a musician singing in competiton throughout Europe before settling down to med school. So we appreciate the richness and diversity that traveling brings to one's life. Getting to know other places and other people expands horizons! Thankfully Air BnB provides a more affordable way to do just that! We want to do everything we can to support this mission!
We don't need to stay in the home while guests are there, but we are in town and can meet and greet as per their desire. We want to do whatever we can to make their stay an enjoyable experience. Certainly our guests should feel free to contact us any time should a need arise.
The guesthouse on the property adjacent to the big house we often frequent. It is entirely separate and our comings and goings should have no effect on those inside unless a need arises. So there is never any reason to feel you are imposing to contact us when something comes up. We are close by and welcome any opportunity to make your stay as comfortable as possible and earn the stellar reviews we covet!

Other things to note

Close to plenty of great eating places, fun shopping and the largest mall in Arkansas.
25 miles to Funky Fayetteville, home of the Bikes, Blues and BBQ, U of A Razorbacks games, graduations and other collegiate functions, Dixon Street nightlife and a huge Farmers Market April-Oct.
45 minutes from Eureka Springs artist colony and the Great Passion Play.
Dozens of miles of bike trails accessible from your own back yard! The brand new RAIL YARD dirt biking facility is only blocks from the retreat. It has courses ranging from training wheel accessible to diamond courses that careen through boxcars and other exciting challenges. Throw the bikes in the car! This is not to be missed!! Or better yet, rent bikes downtown and save the hassle! There is even a tour guide service that can be used.
Short distance to Beaver Lake, Hobbs Estate, War Eagle Cavern, Walmart Home Offices, John Q Hammons Convention Center, the WalMart AMP, Promenade Mall, War Eagle Mill, Pinnacle Country Club (host of the LPGA,) Shadow Valley Country Club, Rogers Aquatic Park, Mercy and Northwest Medical Centers, the Ed Cooley Photo Gallery, Rogers Little Theatre, Benton County Court House and Crystal Bridges Museum.
The Annual Pea Ridge Battlefield reenactment is close to our neck of the woods as well. They have a fine geneological collection for tracing family histories.
Indeed, NWA has become a destination spot of great reknown for not only its natural beauty but its attractions and commerce as well.
Vendors to the area looking for a temporary home away from home may request a discount.
Note To first time users: please be prepared to share with us a little bit about yourselves and your companions before we accept your reservation i.e. Age, occupation, perhaps a name and number for a personal reference. We have had many wonderful people who were first-time users. We do not want to exclude those people and only accept guests with a proven track record of reviews. However, we have also been very burnt by taking first time users. If this is not comfortable for you, please apply elsewhere.

No pesticide or chemical air freshener usage, smoking, pets, firearms, including BeBe guns, or contraband please.
Because we must keep chemical usage in check, it is our goal to prevent the need to treat bugs, in part, by not attracting them in the first place. Please do not leave food out that would draw insects. Should you see some you want to take care of own your own, there is a vacuum cleaner in the front closet for sucking them up. Call us and we will apply natural treatments.
While we want to be a family friendly listing, please keep these things in mind. This is a vintage home in the Frank Lloyd Wright style of open air spaces. There is a stairwell that is too large to accommodate a conventional baby gate. Also, the furnishings are not new, but we would appreciate if they were cared for maybe even better than you might care for your own. We do not want even children jumping or eating on the upholstered furniture, as we have encountered in the past. There is a baby grand piano that we would appreciate fingerprints staying off of, etc. Only you know your children. If you feel they can handle these kinds of boundaries, then we are delighted to have them under your watchful eye.
Woodburning stoves are not to be used unless special permission is obtained in advance and stove is thoroughly cleaned after usage.
Please do not permit food or drink or handprints be applied or used on or near the baby grand piano and be certain that children are well supervised around it.
The upper level deck off the third story is only for viewing from inside the home, but is otherwise closed.
If there are to be more visitors than those originally identified, please notify us in advance. While the space can accommodate big gatherings, we are not a commercial facility but a residence. Parties of over 12 people require preapproval and an extra cleaning fee depending on the circumstances. Parking is not permitted on the pavers in front. Urns block this from happening. Please leave them in their places. *Groups over 10 will have a higher cleaning fee of $100.*
We reserve the right to enter the facility and turn off any lights left on while the house is unoccupied.
Each restroom will come stocked with at least two rolls of toilet paper. Past that the extra is on the Guest to provide. Please be aware that we are on a septic tank and excess paper could be problematic.
If use of the garage is desired, it must be discussed in advance and may require an extra deposit and fee.
If you desire having more than 12 people for overnight, please inquire.
Please supply us with the make, model, year, color and license number of each vehicle associated with the reservation when the reservation is made or at the time of receiving the keycode. Please limit the number of vehicles to two unless prior permission is received and adequate arrangements are made.
Please do not send grease down the pipes or anything but toilet paper into the plumbing or very fibrous material through the garbage disposal.
Be familiar with the guest agreement as listed under Basics and be comfortable with signing a copy of them upon arrival.

This was our second time staying here. It is a beautiful home secluded on Lake Atalanta but only minutes away from downtown Rogers or a short car ride to Bentonville. The home is great for larger groups or families with plenty of rooms for everyone. Walk down and enjoy the park and path around the lake or get on your bike and enjoy Lake Atlanta mountain bike trail or many others around Rogers and Bentonville. If you are a cyclist or mountain biker, this is the perfect place to stay. The hosts are wonderful as always and made sure we had a great stay.

A+++ No issues whatsoever here. We had a family get together over labor day weekend, and couldn't have asked for a better setting. Spacious, secluded, quiet, yet very close to lake activities and hiking trails. You can bike to downtown Rogers from the home, or take a car and you're there in a few min. Small town atmosphere with great local coffee shops and restaurants. Bentonville is 7 miles or so away and is another beautiful town. Crystal Springs was recommended to us by our host, Marty, and we had a blast. The host's provided us with everything we needed and made sure we felt right at home. They were easily accessible anytime, and more than willing to offer recommendations for the stay. They know everything about the area, and they made sure had a great time.

Great place to stay with lots of room. Surrounded by nature, yet just a few minutes from downtown. We went with our adult children and had 4 couples and an infant. We loved that there was enough space for each couple to have their own room. We enjoyed the open kitchen and the large dining table where we could all sit together to eat and to play games. The hiking trails that are just below the house are great. We saw lots of deer. We also discovered something new! Just outside the front door their were large butterflies gathering nectar from a flowering bush. There was something that looked like a humming bird, or maybe a wasp? After doing a little research we discovered it was a hummimgbird moth! Jim and Marty were great. Marty is fantastic to respond quickly with any questions you may have. Thank you Jim and Marty for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home!

If you stay here, you will be greeted by the most hospitable owners and local wildlife (deer) ready to make your stay a comfortable and lovely experience. We had nine people of all ages who were in town to work, and it could not have been nicer. This is a beautiful and unique property, near Lake Atalanta which is a beautiful setting. We all want to come back!

Secluded and private yet less than 5 minutes from downtown Rogers, this house has it all, especially for large family gatherings! We had 12 people there one night and everyone had a good bed! No one had to sleep on a couch! Crazy big and roomy! We never felt crowded. We were in northwest Arkansas for my daughter's wedding and this house was perfect. All the appliances worked, all the toilets flushed, all the showers had plenty of hot water, all the lights worked, and the grand piano was great for the musicians in our family to have "sing-alongs." I have no suggestions at all!!! Thanks to Marty and Jim, we had a great weekend!

Thank you, Jim and Marty for allowing our families to stay at your home for this week in July! It meant so much for us to find a home large enough to accommodate all 11 of us. Your spacious home gave us plenty of room to divide and conquer the children as necessary (so the parents could survive vacation!), and it was wonderful to have a kitchen table large enough to seat all the children at meal time. The kids enjoyed the visiting deer each day, searching for lizards and the turtle, and of course, playing hide and seek in the house with all the nooks and crannies! Your house worked well for our families, and had everything we needed to make this stay easy and comfortable. We enjoyed walking down to Lake Atalanta, and wished we would have had more time to explore and fish there. It is so wonderful to have it so close by! We had a fantastic stay since your home was so close to our family in Rogers and to the lake where we spent all of our time. It was such an easy house to come home to and most importantly, feel at home in. Thank you for all your suggestions with activities in the area and for the introductory tour of the home, and for being so available to us with our questions. We really appreciate it and know that we have a home in Rogers, Arkansas to come back to! Thank you!

Jim & Marty User ProfileJim & Marty is a superhost.

Jim is a retired physician that raised 5 children in this home. It was one of the first electrical homes built as a 1500 sq ft ranch house by an executive of Daisy BB. He traveled the world and his wife brought bulbs and plantings back from the Netherlands that still grace the property and are well known in these parts. Don't miss the tulip tree! Being one of the first built it's location is enviable, overlooking both arms of the lake. When Jim was practicing it was a great location, close to the hospital yet secluded. Jim completely renovated and added on twice. Each time the architect was a student of Fay Jones, noted former dean of the University of Arkansas School of Architecture and apprentice to Frank Lloyd Wright himself.
Jim remembers visiting the Lake Atalanta vacation spot with his family from southern Arkansas as a little boy. It was like a dream come true to return as an adult and establish the first ob/byn practice in this area ever.
Now that he is an empty nester, it is Jim's pleasure to share this special place with others who appreciate the natural beauty and serenity it offers.
One thing that Jim can't live without is his fiance, Marty, who enjoys helping him make you feel at home.
