The master bedroom on the first floor makes it easy assess for elderly parents or physically challenged guests. This room has a queensize bed in it. A second master upstairs provides an extra measure of seclusion and a kingsize bed. Cork flooring is easy on the joints and exists throughout the home. Each bed room is unique, offering its own charm.
A second bedroom on the main floor has 2 twin beds. A third bedroom, just a short stairway down is complete with library shelving in the loft, its own veranda and a fullsize bed. It is an idyllic spot with a public park, creek and spring fed lake for fishing especially known for outstanding catfish, playground equipment, bike trails all within walking distance. Catfishing is best done around midnight we are told. So our spot would allow the ambitious fisherman to just walk down the hill and back home after a great night's catch!
A multimillion dollar restoration there has just been completed! If you booked last year during the period the nature preserve was down, mention that and we will give you 10% off your new booking.
The swimming pool, green space and circle drive across the street are no longer owned by us and are not part of the rental.
There are lots of built ins in the bedrooms. Each has two or three empty drawers for your use. Please leave the drawers with our personal effects unused.
The television downstairs is analog and is useful for DVDs and tapes. The smaller television on the kitchen desk will give you local channels for the news. Since there is internet but no cable, please plan accordingly. The area does have several sports bars where many games can be viewed.

Interaction with guests
We can have as much or as little interaction as our guests like. In our younger years we have both traveled extensively, me as a foreign exchange student and Jim as a musician singing in competiton throughout Europe before settling down to med school. So we appreciate the richness and diversity that traveling brings to one's life. Getting to know other places and other people expands horizons! Thankfully Air BnB provides a more affordable way to do just that! We want to do everything we can to support this mission!
We don't need to stay in the home while guests are there, but we are in town and can meet and greet as per their desire. We want to do whatever we can to make their stay an enjoyable experience. Certainly our guests should feel free to contact us any time should a need arise.
The guesthouse on the property adjacent to the big house we often frequent. It is entirely separate and our comings and goings should have no effect on those inside unless a need arises. So there is never any reason to feel you are imposing to contact us when something comes up. We are close by and welcome any opportunity to make your stay as comfortable as possible and earn the stellar reviews we covet!
Other things to note

It has courses ranging from training wheel accessible to diamond courses that careen through boxcars and other exciting challenges. Throw the bikes in the car! This is not to be missed!! Or better yet, rent bikes downtown and save the hassle! There is even a tour guide service that can be used.

Note To first time users: please be prepared to share with us a little bit about yourselves and your companions before we accept your reservation i.e. Age, occupation, perhaps a name and number for a personal reference. We have had many wonderful people who were first-time users. We do not want to exclude those people and only accept guests with a proven track record of reviews. However, we have also been very burnt by taking first time users. If this is not comfortable for you, please apply elsewhere.
No pesticide or chemical air freshener usage, smoking, pets, firearms, including BeBe guns, or contraband please.
Because we must keep chemical usage in check, it is our goal to prevent the need to treat bugs, in part, by not attracting them in the first place. Please do not leave food out that would draw insects. Should you see some you want to take care of own your own, there is a vacuum cleaner in the front closet for sucking them up. Call us and we will apply natural treatments.
While we want to be a family friendly listing, please keep these things in mind. This is a vintage home in the Frank Lloyd Wright style of open air spaces. There is a stairwell that is too large to accommodate a conventional baby gate. Also, the furnishings are not new, but we would appreciate if they were cared for maybe even better than you might care for your own. We do not want even children jumping or eating on the upholstered furniture, as we have encountered in the past. There is a baby grand piano that we would appreciate fingerprints staying off of, etc. Only you know your children. If you feel they can handle these kinds of boundaries, then we are delighted to have them under your watchful eye.
Woodburning stoves are not to be used unless special permission is obtained in advance and stove is thoroughly cleaned after usage.
Please do not permit food or drink or handprints be applied or used on or near the baby grand piano and be certain that children are well supervised around it.
The upper level deck off the third story is only for viewing from inside the home, but is otherwise closed.
If there are to be more visitors than those originally identified, please notify us in advance. While the space can accommodate big gatherings, we are not a commercial facility but a residence. Parties of over 12 people require preapproval and an extra cleaning fee depending on the circumstances. Parking is not permitted on the pavers in front. Urns block this from happening. Please leave them in their places. *Groups over 10 will have a higher cleaning fee of $100.*
We reserve the right to enter the facility and turn off any lights left on while the house is unoccupied.
Each restroom will come stocked with at least two rolls of toilet paper. Past that the extra is on the Guest to provide. Please be aware that we are on a septic tank and excess paper could be problematic.
If use of the garage is desired, it must be discussed in advance and may require an extra deposit and fee.
If you desire having more than 12 people for overnight, please inquire.
Please supply us with the make, model, year, color and license number of each vehicle associated with the reservation when the reservation is made or at the time of receiving the keycode. Please limit the number of vehicles to two unless prior permission is received and adequate arrangements are made.
Please do not send grease down the pipes or anything but toilet paper into the plumbing or very fibrous material through the garbage disposal.
Be familiar with the guest agreement as listed under Basics and be comfortable with signing a copy of them upon arrival.
Jim is a retired physician that raised 5 children in this home. It was one of the first electrical homes built as a 1500 sq ft ranch house by an executive of Daisy BB. He traveled the world and his wife brought bulbs and plantings back from the Netherlands that still grace the property and are well known in these parts. Don't miss the tulip tree! Being one of the first built it's location is enviable, overlooking both arms of the lake. When Jim was practicing it was a great location, close to the hospital yet secluded. Jim completely renovated and added on twice. Each time the architect was a student of Fay Jones, noted former dean of the University of Arkansas School of Architecture and apprentice to Frank Lloyd Wright himself.
Jim remembers visiting the Lake Atalanta vacation spot with his family from southern Arkansas as a little boy. It was like a dream come true to return as an adult and establish the first ob/byn practice in this area ever.
Now that he is an empty nester, it is Jim's pleasure to share this special place with others who appreciate the natural beauty and serenity it offers.
One thing that Jim can't live without is his fiance, Marty, who enjoys helping him make you feel at home.
