Fall has arrived in Music City but there's still lots to do! If you're looking to vacation in a cozy house where up to four can relax with all the comforts of home, you've found it. Just north of East Nashville hot spots and an easy Uber ride downtown. Suitable for adults over age 30 and families.
Located in a leafy and peaceful residential neighborhood along the Cumberland River just north of East Nashville, the heart of Nashville's creative community and home to many of our writers, artists and musicians, and a $13 ride by Uber or Lyft downtown.
This 1,000 square foot, two bedroom, one bath unit with full kitchen, living room and all the amenities of home is ideal for a couple, family or group of friends. It is located exactly 7 miles from downtown, the Music City Convention Center and the Lower Broadway honky-tonk district. Opryland Resort & Convention Center is directly across the river (it takes about 10 minutes to get there). For the mobility-challenged, this is a one-level dwelling with flat, surfaces from the drive to entry and all through the house. Off-street parking and front and back entrances. The house is equipped with five smoke detector/fire alarms wired to a central breaker, with battery backups. (If one goes off, all five will. Please use the hood vent above the stove when cooking.) There is also a fire extinguisher under the kitchen sink. The house is equipped with a carbon monoxide detector in the living room. This is a safe, peaceful, established residential neighborhood with a mix of retirees, young couples and families, but of course your security comes first, and both doors have new locks with deadbolts.
You will need a car to get around town and for day trips, but we also have Lyft and Uber, which run 24/7 and are a great alternative to driving downtown for a night of honky-tonkin'. (Fare runs about $13 one-way to Lower Broadway.)
There is ample parking in back for two or three cars. The main entry is off the large back deck into a fully-equipped kitchen. Two bedrooms with new queen beds sleep up to four, and extra guests can be accommodated with an air mattress. Both beds have down-alternative comforters and fleece blankets, and there are down comforters in both closets for extra warmth. Each bed has numerous pillows. One bedroom has a ceiling fan, and there is also a box fan if you need white noise to sleep. A tiled bathroom with full 30 inch vanity has a tub/shower, lots of towels and soap, shampoo and conditioner, hair dryer, curling iron and ironing board. If there's something you forgot, such as Q-tips, a toothbrush, razor or shaving cream, just check the linen closet behind the door. Full kitchen with gas stove, fridge, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker and electric teakettle. Coffee, tea and fixings are supplied, as well as eggs, English muffins, butter, instant oatmeal, pasta and sauce, soups, snacks and condiments. A 200 square ft living room has comfy furnishings and a 32 inch flat-screen smart TV with Netflix, Amazon Prime and local channels. Wi-fi throughout.
There's a trailhead at the end of the street for the Shelby Bottoms greenway, where you can do a one mile loop or walk four miles along the river to East Nashville's Shelby Park, enjoying a sunrise or sunset view from a beautiful pedestrian bridge suspended above the Cumberland River.
Entertainment in Nashville is concentrated in a few areas: East Nashville/Five Points, Downtown/Lower Broad, The Gulch and Midtown. Restaurants are also concentrated in Germantown, 12th South. It's an easy drive to the restaurants and clubs of East Nashville/Five Points, or head downtown for a night of live music at Robert's Western World and numerous other clubs along the strip. The house is one mile from Riverside Village, which has Mitchell's Deli, Village Pub, Rudie's Seafood & Sausage and Dose Cafe. Kroger supermarket, Walgreens and CVS are two miles away. Three miles away, at the corner of Eastland and Chapel, is a collection of restaurants including Rosepepper Cafe, Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, The Wild Cow, Two Ten Jack, coffee shops including Barista Parlor, Portland Brew and Ugly Mugs, and Eastland Cafe, which has a excellent happy hour menu if you are looking for a drink and light dinner before a night out. Along Gallatin Road is a burgeoning hipster scene including brew pubs, vintage shops and restaurants like Butcher & Bee, Smith & Lentz and local favorite The Family Wash, a comfy bar/restaurant/coffee shop/live music venue. Five Points is the heart of East Nashville and has a concentration of shops, bars and restaurants for all tastes: from fine-dining Margot and its casual sister bistro Marche to Five Points Pizza, the Treehouse, and Tenn16. From there you are two miles from Lower Broadway, the heart of downtown Nashville. Downtown is accessible by neighborhood streets, Gallatin Road, or a fast zip down Ellington Parkway (fastest route to avoid busy Gallatin Road).
The house has two entrances with parking in the back. The back entrance is the most accessible to parking and is the one you'll use the most. It is a white door at the end of the deck.
Interaction with guests
The house has a small apartment on the side which is separate from the rental space. No other guests use it - I may be in and out from time to time but am available to guests at all times by phone and am close to the property.
This house is appropriate for adults over age 30 and families. There is off-street parking for up to three cars in back of the house. Smoking is allowed on the deck.
