The space

The focus of the house is on light and space. All rooms on the ground floor lead off the central hall, with its vaulted ceiling and chandelier, glazed walls and double staircase.
The house has been designed to accommodate an extended family and has various communal areas - a large kitchen/diner, sun-room, cosy snug/TV room with wood burning stove & 5.1 point cinema surround sound system, and a glazed first floor gallery with views of the loch. The hub of the house is the central hall, with a full size snooker table.
It sleeps up to 12 adults in 3 double and 3 twin bedrooms. One of the twin rooms is on the ground floor with an en-suite shower room to accomodate elderly or less mobile guests. In addition, a cot is available for very young guests.
Outside space is provided by a first floor balcony accessed from the gallery, a front deck accessed from the snooker hall, and a large patio at the rear for barbecues. There are also gardens, which are kept as natural as possible, with a path up to a viewing point and bench at the rear of the property.

Guest access

Guests will have exclusive use of the house and all its facilities, including a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, utility room with washing machine, drying facilities inside and out, free Wi-Fi, a cosy snug with 5.1 cinema surround sound & a log burner, and a central hall with full sized snooker table.

Interaction with guests

Our friendly housekeeper will greet you with a warm Scottish welcome and homemade scones and jam. She will then give you a guided tour of the house, and explain how everything works. She is a local lass, so if you have any questions about local facilities and attractions, she will be happy to help you. After seeing you settled in, she will leave you in peace to enjoy your holiday. If you have any problems during your stay, you will be able to contact her.

The neighbourhood

The peace, tranquility and ambience of the location cannot be described - it has to be experienced, along with views of Loch Ness, the mountains and the forests. There are several local woodland walks around the house, with wildlife including deer, red squirrels and pine martens. The village of Foyers is within easy reach, with a village shop & post office, a pub and the famous 'Falls of Foyers.' This side of Loch Ness is also ideal for cycling. Within 30 minutes drive is Inverness, or the tourist attraction of Fort Augustus, where various boat trips can be taken on the Loch.

Getting around

A car is highly recommended, as the house is fairly remote. By car, the village of Foyers is only a few minutes away, and the City of Inverness 30 minutes. A bus service runs between Foyers to Inverness several times a day, plus local taxi services. Inverness has a mainline train station and an airport.

Other things to note

If you would like a personal chef to come and cater for you, please let us know and we can arrange it for you.

We had a brilliant week at Foyers. The house was perfect. It was fully stocked with everything you could need for a luxury week in the Highlands. The kitchen is fully stocked, I was ever able to make a cake with all the equipment available. The views from the house are stunning and it was a real treat to wake up every morning to the scenery. The house is a little way out of the village so you would definitely need a car to get around and we thought the roads were too dangerous to walk with young children but there is plenty of parking and nice walks around the village once you have driven there. We made use of the private chef visiting the house which was a perfect way to celebrate my husbands birthday and keep the babies of the house in their routine... We are already discussing our return trip, it was faultless!

Sealladh an Loch was ideal for our family (10 adults and a baby) holiday requirements. Situated on the east side of Loch Ness (half way between Inverness and Fort Augustus) the house has great views of the loch, mountains and forests. We had other family members (7 adults and 2 children) join us for a day. The house is spacious and comfortable with plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen is huge and very well equipped allowing us to 'self cater' for our large party. The location is great for touring the Highlands with many sites and activities within about one hour's drive. The roads (B861 and B862) leading to the house are 'single track' in many places, but this wasn't a problem as the traffic was very light when we visited at the end of September. The vehicle access to the house is up a steep drive with limited space to turn at the top, so be prepared to reverse back down to the road. Points worth noting: TV reception isn't available due to the remote location, which meant we were unable to keep up with news and events - a real treat as it allowed us to concentrate on more important stuff such as enjoying our holiday. Snooker players will love the full-size table in the hall. The lighting and heating systems take advantage of renewable energy sources - the lighting controls take a bit of getting used to, but simple to operate once the written instructions are understood. The walk down to the 'Falls of Foyers' is steep, but well worth the effort, especially after it has been raining as this is when the Falls are at their best. Worst aspect: the dishwasher broke down on the first day of our visit, which meant that I had to roll my sleeves up and spend too much time at the sink. Replaced with a new machine just as we left to go home. Best aspect: the house is maintained and cleaned to a very high standard. This has everything to do with Lorna the housekeeper. I would strongly recommend Sealladh an Loch to anyone looking to explore Loch Ness and its surroundings.

The house is absolutely stunning, the pictures do not do it justice! We had 9 women in the house for a week and there was plenty of room, plenty of beds and plenty of fun! It's unbelievably quiet and peaceful and the loch is just across the street, stunning. The house is set up quite well for a large group and it's accessible to some nice activities in Foyers, or beyond to Inverness or Fort Augustus. We absolutely loved it and would love to return some day.

I stayed at the house as part of a trip to Scotland with my parents and siblings. The house is beautiful and was ample for our group of seven, with plenty of space to spread out. The snooker table was a great source of entertainment in the evenings. The house is well appointed with many modern amenities. The surrounding area is breathtaking, with incredible views of the loch and the mountains from the house. In short, everyone in our group absolutely loved this house, I would highly recommend it!

Sealladh an Loch is a family holiday home, which we built ourselves. Let me introduce the family.
My parents are Maurice and Alison, and they found the plot of land on which we built our beautiful home. Tragically, Mum passed away just as we were completing the project. Although we are sad that she is not here to enjoy it, we take some comfort in the fact that she was at least able to do the parts she was really looking forward to - putting the crockery in the cupboards. The bench and tree up the hill behind the house are in Mum's memory. We often go up there to talk to her.
My name is Sue, and by profession I am an Environmental Health Officer. I am responsible for the administration and day to day management of the house. I am married to Jeremy, who is a Quantity Surveyor. He project-managed the building of the house. We have 2 grown up children. Katy is a psychologist, and helps me out with the admin. Her partner, James, is an IT expert. He loves helping out with DIY, and we know we can rely on him for anything to do with wires or IT!. Our son, another James, is at University studying Sports Coaching.
My brother, Paul, is a businessman specialising in company acquisitions. He was an invaluable pair of hands during the build process, and is now pro-actively developing the business. He is married to Kisha, who owns and runs her own nailbar. She loves purchasing items for the house. They have 3 children, Alex, Jana and Joel, who will all be given duties in due course.
