Our host was there to meet us - and made us feel very welcome answering all our questions. The house is an amazing find - full of beautiful artwork on every wall and ceiling. It was like having our own private exhibition - the owner I understand is an artist and very creative. I wanted to stay in a real Amsterdam canal house with my wife and three teenage kids. It always means for us having two or more hotel rooms so this becomes an economical alternative - except no hotel in the world matches the charm of this property. It has for sure quirks and character e.g. some flaking plaster and well worn items. This though is the charm of this lovely family home and we feel very lucky to have stayed there. The views from rooms were enough to confirm how lucky we were. All very close are superb restaurants, bakeries bars and more. All the sights were very close - lovely Vondelpark, the flowermarket bustle, Dam square, Anne Frank house museums everything we wanted. It would not be so good if you have a problem with stairs as there are lots and they are steep - luckily we didn't have suitcases. I think all Dutch people must have amazing leg muscles that live in houses like that! It must help with the cycling :-) We bought a 3 day Amsterdam Travel Card and were able to hop on and off trams and get a return trip to the airport for EUR25. It included a map and is great value. This will be the first place I check if we return to Amsterdam - I expect it will be hard to beat in the city - and not matched anywhere in the world.

This apartment had the most ideal location for us. We were right in the center of town and within walking distance to everything. The decor made us feel like we were staying in a museum, it was one of a kind. The kitchen was more than well equipped with everything we needed. The bathrooms were fine also. The host was friendly and accommodating with great local recommendations. Quite expensive but when you see the view from every window it's worth it.

Before we arrived Jennifer was in touch with a guide to the house and a selected list of suggestions for places to go in the neighbourhood. The house itself was completely charming--a stage set for an adventure, with beautiful rooms, comfortable beds, a well-equipped kitchen and absolutely breathtaking views from every bedroom. And the neighbourhood was central enough to get anywhere by foot or bicycle, but off the beaten tourist track enough to feel like a real place. We had a great time and hope to return soon.

The Jeltes house is utterly wonderful - perfect location in Amsterdam and everything you want to visit within walking distance. We took my Dad for his 60th birthday and we had a fantastic time staying at the canal house - it was perfect for a family of 5, we especially loved the first floor drawing room with the beautiful views down the canal. A very peaceful location, super easy to get to from the airport. We hope to stay again and we would highly recommend to anyone looking for a home-like base in this city!

The house was really cool, unique and cosy. Like a time travel with all amazing interior. The location was perfect and the view stunning. Jennifer was our hostess and she was very nice, helpful and answered all our questions rapidly (even when she was abroad). We tried some restaurants that she recommended and we liked them all a lot. We would love to come back one day!

The house was marvellous. Its not one of these dodgy ikea laboratory type deals as the pictures clearly show.It is turn of the century and we loved it.Its was great to sit as a family in the sitting room in the evening with a cup of tea or something stronger and look out at Amsterdam.Very comfortable beds, all amenities were good. The location is as good as you can get in the 'dam. The personal greeting for a show around was very good (thenks Merel) ?The hosts were easily contactable even though they were in the USA! I hope we can get back in there at some point in the future.Thank you very much for letting us stay in your home.

Welcome to our Airbnb page! We are the Jeltes family and we would like to welcome you into our home. The house is a 5 story canal house dating from 1900 in the center of Amsterdam with absolutely one of the best views looking down along one of the main canals, towards the historic West Church. We girls have grown up in this wonderful house and have now left the nest called home. Our mom, who is American by birth and residing now most of her time in the states, is an artist and painted almost everything herself, giving the entire house its particular character. We girls are now in charge of looking after the house. And, as we do not live in the house fulltime, we have all decided to rent out a part of it on Airbnb so that other people can enjoy our beautiful home as well.

We hope to welcome you in Amsterdam soon!
