Description

The space

Our home is your space. You are welcome to live in the home, as you would your own. The entire house is 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. But the portion that we have allocated to accommodating guests is just the 1 spare guestroom with a private bathroom.
If you're looking to relax, we have 2 outside patio area's and a communal estate pool to enjoy. Otherwise make use of the kitchen, lounge and TV room whenever you feel like, which is all open plan.

Guest access

Access is completely open to our guests - our home is as much your space as it yours.

Interaction with guests

We're both working professionals and so are generally only home during the afternoons and evenings. So during the week, you'll have the mornings to yourselves. If you choose so, we're happy to hang out in the afternoons/evenings and share dinners. On the weekends, we'd be stoked to show you around Ballito and surrounds and spend some time on the beach. Either way, we're on hand at all times to give advice if required. And if you're keen to just cruise solo, that's also fine.

The neighbourhood

Our neighbourhood is a classic seaside town away from the city. During holidays, we do get a lot of tourists coming to visit and this does inject some fantastic holiday spirit into the community. Either way, most of what we do, involves the ocean in some way. The vibe is generally very chilled, with long days on the beach the most common activity. There are a few shops and some great local restaurants to sample, but most visitors come to the Dolphin Coast to get outdoors, onto the beach or golf course and spend some time in the warm tropical sunshine.

Getting around

In terms of public transport, there are Taxi's always available. You can also hire a car economically to use during your stay. Otherwise, you can walk to the beach, as well as in and around the main part of town. We're also always on hand to offer lifts or drop off and collect you from anywhere around town.

Other things to note

We do often go away for the weekends, and so you may end up having the house to yourselves. Feel free to inquire with us beforehand.

We had a great stay with Brendan and Sam. We found them very easy to get along with and very open and thoughtful people. We had just landed on our first trip to the country so staying with them was invaluable for us. Brendan is very passionate about SA and a great ambassador. He gave a nice, well- balanced picture of the country and what to expect, dos and don'ts, as well as great tips on what to see and where to go. The room was very nice, comfortable bed, etc and we had access to the kitchen, lounge, etc., and also made a shared meal together one night and were joined by Sam's Mum. The facilities are very good, good wifi etc. Very easy and quick to get to from Durban airport - about 25 mins drive on mainly motorway if you arrive after dark as we did.

Brendon and Sam were very welcoming and friendly hosts. We stayed for 3 nights and had a great time. It's a lovely room with an own bathroom right next to the shared living room and kitchen.

We had a wonderful stay at Brendons and Sams house! Both of them are very warming and we spend a nice evening 'with the locals' as they where so nice to invite us for joining their dinner! They are also willing to help you with every question you may have and the previous communication went very well. We would definitely have extended our stay if it was possible for us.

We had a wonderful stay with Brendon. They were extremely welcoming and willing to share both their house and their local knowledge with us. It was an ideal location, only minutes walk from the beach; perfect for watching the morning sunrise and a pod of dolphins. It was an easy drive to access Durban too, and plenty of other local attractions. All in all, we could not have asked for a better start to our holiday! Thanks

My wife and I spent almost 2 years traveling around the world. In that time, our most authentic and memorable experiences, were the times where we stayed with or amongst local people of where we staying. Whether it was on a friends couch in NYC, a family's loft in Germany or the back room of a beach warung in Bali, the opportunity to experience what it truly means to live in a place, instead of simply traveling through it, was what resonated with us most. It's these experiences which inspired us to open our own home here on the Dolphin Coast to visitors.

We're not a BnB or guesthouse. It's simply our home and we're willing to share some space with travellers. We're relaxed and are open to accommodate guests however they choose, whether they wish to eat and hang out with us, or simply use the facilities and do their own exploring.

We live where we do because it's near the ocean. We spend most of time on or around the beach. We are obviously happy to include visitors and/or share some local insight on the best places to eat and see and do.

Above all, if you're looking to stay with some local people close to the beach, we'd be stoked to share our home with you.
