Loughview Lodge is a spacious one bedroom house on the Blackhead Coastal Path, part of the Causeway Coastal Route.

Off a quiet private lane, it is secluded within a large mature garden, with views overlooking Belfast Lough.

Take a stroll down the lane and 115 steps will take you down to the shore where you can follow the path to the Blackhead Lighthouse, or Whitehead Village.

The Lodge provides a luxurious relaxing stay, whether you are looking for a base to explore or a romantic get-away!

The space
Loughview Lodge was completely renovated in 2022.

We have strived to create a calm, tranquil living space with beautiful furnishings and we make the comfort of our guests our priority.

We invite you to come and enjoy the peace and tranquility of our area, our little piece of heaven!

LIVING & DINING AREA:

Upstairs is a bright and spacious open plan living and dining area. Snuggle up with the premium cozy throws on the comfortable leather sofas and watch the ferries or cruise ships sailing up Belfast Lough. Grab a complimentary coffee or hot chocolate and catch up on something on the 55 inch Smart TV, Netflix is provided for your enjoyment!

A cozy reading area has been created at the back of the room for you to relax and unwind. Pick a book and enjoy the peace and tranquillity or in the summer listen to the sound of the birds in the garden.

A fold out sofa bed accommodating two people can be found at the back of the room, which we can set up for your arrival. Please let us know in advance.

A large oak dining table is towards the back of the room and has views out to the back garden. It has seating for 6 and can double up as a workspace if required.

Wi-Fi is good for working or streaming on the 55" Smart TV.

BEDROOM:

The bedroom is downstairs and has a very comfy continental size double bed dressed with 100% cotton bedding and a deluxe cozy throw.

There are bedside tables with lamps and charging points on each side of the bed.

We can also set up two single beds upon request, both with cute little reading lights and charging points.

Full length curtains with blackout linings mean you are not disturbed by the morning sun.

BATHROOM:

The bathroom is modern and spacious and has an extra large Adamsez quadrant shower equipped with a drenching shower head.

The sink is wall mounted and has a unit underneath for storage. An LED mirror with electric shaving point is above the sink.

Try our complimentary Bright Earth hand wash, shampoo & body wash and conditioner.

It is Part of an earth-centred range of Herbal Remedy luxury toiletries. It has a complex herbal scent balanced with fresh citrus notes and contains essential oils of coriander, lemon, green mandarin and orange. It is Vegan and cruelty free, made in the UK and is dermatologically tested for sensitive skin.

Afterwards dry off with our luxury fluffy white towels, Pure bliss!

KITCHEN:

The compact modern kitchen is well stocked with all your essentials such as cutlery, saucepans, crockery and other items should you wish to cook your own meals.

There is a full size oven with grill, extractor fan, hob, integrated fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle.

We have also provided a Tassimo coffee machine with complimentary coffee and hot chocolate pods for you to enjoy!

We provide every booking with a complimentary Welcome Basket meaning you don't need to worry about stopping for basics!

We have a good selection of white and red wine glasses, champagne flutes, beer glasses, gin glasses and tumblers. We also have plastic tableware for younger children.

INTEGRAL STORAGE AREA:

This space is large enough for you to store equipment such as golf clubs, mountain bikes and luggage.

It houses a washing machine and a tumble dryer.

A clothing and shoe rail is provided to allow guests to hang wet coats, muddy shoes and wetsuits. There is also an ironing board and iron.

You will also find beach towels and a picnic backpack, good for days out to the beach!

OUTSIDE:

You will have full access to your own large garden with plenty of room for you and your family to enjoy the great outdoors, should it be a game of frisbee, football, or just sitting in the tranquility of the garden.

The Lodge is off a private lane which makes it a very quiet area with little traffic. Perfect for relaxing and getting away from the hustle and bustle of life!

ARRIVAL:

Directions are sent the day before, please follow them exactly and you should arrive with no issues. We are always available to direct you should you get lost.

There is no need to reserve parking as we have enough parking for up to 4 vehicles. It is best to reverse up to the front door as it has a slight incline.

A lockbox beside the private entrance is where you will find your key, the PIN number is sent with your directions the day before arrival.

We live next door to The Lodge and are on hand should you need any assistance, however you will have total privacy during your stay. Your privacy and enjoyment while staying at The Lodge is our priority!

OTHER POINTS TO NOTE:

There are several good walking trails in the area for you to explore including The Blackhouse Lighthouse, just a 10 minute walk away.

Due to stairs in the property it is not suitable for young children.

The Lodge is within the grounds of our property which is 1 3/4 acres. You have exclusive use of a mature front garden with sea views.

The Lodge is a detached house with it's own private entrance.

Our home is adjacent to The Lodge however it is screened by by a large bed of shrubs and flowers.

Neighbourhood highlights

Located 1 mile from Whitehead village, The Lodge is situated on the Blackhead Coastal Walk with a garden that backs onto the 12th green of Whitehead Golf Club. Just along the lane is the Blackhead Lighthouse, which is a short 10 minute walk. At the bottom of the lane are 122 steps which will take you down the cliff to the shore. Turn right and Whitehead Village is a 15 minute walk. Turn left and follow the path to a series of steps which will take you back up the cliff to the lighthouse and from there the top path will bring you back to The Lodge.

The property is accessed via a country lane which is uneven in areas, so please drive slowly! We live beside Loughview Lodge so should you need assistance during your stay, we are on hand to help. However, you will have total privacy during you stay. It is a very quiet area with little traffic.

In Whitehead village you find a bakery, a butchers, a fruit & vegetable shop, two chemists, a small grocery store and several cafes.

If you are looking for Ice cream, The Rinkha is a family business selling a variety of homemade ice cream and has been in existence for 100 years! It is 1.1miles away.

We are 2.5 miles from the Gobbins Cliff Path. It has a series of suspended bridges and is the most dramatic costal path in Europe. Tours are guided and must be pre-booked. Browns Bay Beach and Portmuck harbour are a short 15 minute drive away, where guests can take part in water activities such as canoeing, paddle boarding and open water swimming.

Carrickfergus Castle, built in 1177, is one of the best preserved medieval structures in Ireland and is only 6 miles away. The Titanic Visitor Centre is 14 miles from Loughview Lodge and can be accessed directly via Train. If you are a fan of Game of Thrones, we are set in the perfect location for visiting the newly opened Game of Thrones Studio Tour, located just 22 miles from us. If you feel like visiting the famous dark hedges they are only a 38 mile drive along the North Coast. Many other popular attractions are within reach of Loughview Lodge such as Giants Causeway (61 Miles) and Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge (61 Miles). National Trust beach, Portstewart Strand, is 50 miles away and is a great way to spend a day out.

There are a number of excellent golf clubs nearby, with Whitehead Golf club neighbouring Loughview Lodge. The club has an excellent restaurant and bar and is open to non members.

Belfast City Centre, hosts a range of attractions such as The Titanic Visitor Centre, the newly renovated Grand Opera House, Ulster Museum and a range of award winning restaurants. If you feel like a fun night out, you can visit Cathedral Quarter, which boasts a range of lively bars and pubs hosting live music and events all year round. Perhaps you fancy a drink at a National Trust listed building? Why not try out The Crown Liquor Saloon, which dates back to the 1880's? It is opposite Great Victoria Street Railway station, which can be accessed directly from Whitehead Station where you can leave your car at the park and ride.
