We really enjoyed our stay at the driftwood lodge. The house was spacious and fully equipped with everything that we needed. The rooms were clean and well decorated and the view of the bay was beautiful!

Driftwood Lodge is beautiful, spacious and perfect for large groups. It can comfortably fit 10-12 with some persons having to share beds. There are many rooms to hang out in and two large tables for dining together. And the jacuzzi outside is quite lovely. We stayed there for a bachelorette party (we're a bit older so no need for craziness). We even hired the nicest local chef, Denise Ballard, to help us shop for groceries for the weekend and set us up with a really fun crab boil dinner. This was truly the highlight of our trip. Unfortunately we had to move the boil from the outside to the inside because of rain but thankfully the house was large enough to accommodate the two long folding tables Denise had brought for the dinner. Theresa, the property manager, provided recommendations for good spots nearby and provided very clear instructions for check-in and check out, which was helpful. The view and the water are beautiful but be sure to check the conditions before jumping in (jellyfish, flesh-eating bacteria, etc.). Overall, it was a nice little, secluded getaway for a bunch of girls who are easy breezy.

Response from Jonathan:
Hi Fiana, Thanks for the nice words and feedback. Just to help clarify - the bay is not unlike any other natural body of water when it comes to properly protecting yourself from foodborne or waterborne infections -- these issues are typically most common if you leave wounds unprotected or have pre-existing medical conditions ( if so you should exercise caution in any natural body of water). To my understanding and experience these type of occurrences are far less common in an wide open body of water with good circulation, as is in front of the property. I'm sure you would have been fine for a swim! Migrating macro zooplankton 'jelly-fish' are seasonal and common to this region as well, they come and go for a few week period based on the rainfall and fresh water influx in the bay.. They usually are only short lived. Sorry to hear that you spotted a few out there, sounds they likely were departed shortly after the rain! Hope this information is found helpful in future Chesapeake Bay and other world travels! We look forward to having you return in the future, so happy to hear you enjoyed your time. Thank you very much for visiting! -The Driftwood Lodge

Beautiful, spacious house right on the water and with a fairly private setting. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend!

Party with Marty! The family celebrated his 90th birthday with four generations in attendance. Driftwood easily housed twelve adults and a child and the ground floor bedroom was perfect for Dad. The house is beautiful and well provisioned. We cooked all our meals and could all fit at the kitchen table. We enjoyed the kayaks, grill, fire pit and just hanging out together in a majestically beautiful setting. No regrets with this choice.

Looking for perfect house for family gathering? This house is amazing - beautifully decorated, many sitting areas for different groups of family members to relax and gather. Fantastic water views from all floors and rooftop. Plenty of chairs and tables in each area with jacuzzi, fire pit, kayaks and keeps on going! Our family had the best time. We gathered together from many places - near and far. We searched for a location that was close to DC, near water, good activities and large house where we could spread out and be comfortable. We are use to large OBX houses but did not want to travel 5+ hours. This house did not disappoint. Layout of house is fantastic with roomy bedrooms. Entire house is tasteful and warm. We loved the artwork and contemporary feel. This house is extra spacious for 12 persons, and so well suited for family reunion. Though the house does not look large from the outside, it's got plenty inside. There are 3 dining areas in the house. Big table in kitchen, long kitchen counter with bar stools, and open dining area that opens to living room with water views. Our family gathers around meals and food. Big farm table in kitchen where we gravitated and fit entire group! Kitchen was well stocked with appliances, pans and basics which was surprise. We got cooked crabs from Abner's and fresh oysters and steamers from Chesapeake Beach farmer's grocery store. It was iconic Chesapeake and what a feast! So fresh, huge oysters and perfect crabs. Corn from local grocery store was sweetest too. You've got to have this meal if you are visiting. There are 3 living/sitting areas on the first floor and rooftop terrace on top floor. Each have water views and good seating. TV/family area has bar/counter area with separate microwave and refrigerator. You can hide away to read a book or work on your laptop while others are watching tv in another area. We weren't as lucky with weather and rained most of our stay. So, we explored local area and visited local winery, Running Hare which is about 20 minutes away. Secluded venue with big house for weddings. Tasting was very good and nice area for sitting and sipping wine. Bring picnic basket. They have entertainment and food trucks on weekends. Annapolis is closeby, but we found other places to visit. A note about area: People in local towns, Deale and Chesapeake Beach are very friendly and helpful. So close to hectic life of DMV, but you feel miles away. Farmer's Market is every Friday evening from May to Sept/Oct at nearby Chesapeake Beach. It was rained out when we visited, but plan on coming back to check it out. Don't know why we didn't discover Maryland Chesapeake earlier. Our family have good, forever memories now. And what a touch - welcome gifts upon arrival! thanks to Jonathan and Theresa for wonderful time from beginning to end...
