This is a pristine and elegant home with music, books, and high end furniture and woodwork. We have four massive mahogany rockers on the porch, plus assorted padded furniture in the screened in. The lake stroll is the highlight; kayaks can be rented.
Dam House is the only home on MacDowell Lake, grandfathered in by the Army Corps of Engineers. The house was built by a wood enthusiast, with such features as an applewood and spalted maple kitchen. MacDowell Lake sits on 1200 acres of parkland. The house is situated 200 yards from the shore at the intersection of the Nubanusit Stream (trout stocked, with gorgeous casting pools) and the lake. The house has two master bedrooms, each with attached bath and private porch, a small bedroom with twin beds, and a finished basement with two queens and 1/2 bath. There is a large kitchen/dining/ living room plus a separate living room. All convene on a 40 foot porch. Behind the house is a stocked stream. The road has only two houses, and one can drive or walk a quarter mile to the boat launch on MacDowell Lake. The best amenity is the lake itself; it is a lovely, sunny stroll along the dirt path alongside the 3/4 mile-long mile long lake from the western end, where the house is located, to the eastern end where the dam and beach are situated. The house is pristine. The setting is tranquil. No motor boats on lake except electric.
We are asking $350/night with a 7 night minimum.

Interaction with guests
I will show them the property and leave them alone.
No smoking inside or out. No fires except in grill. Dogs by written arrangement. Lock all doors and close and lock all windows when away. Be sure exterior flood and other lights are off and all 5 thermostats (kitchen, den, basement, master 1 and master 2) are set to zero (off) when leaving. This is a shoeless home because pea stone from driveway mars wood floors, so please remove shoes in front entryway. Other than linens, please leave house in same clean condition--including dishware-- that you found it. Garbage in plastic bags go in covered bins in garage. Please avail yourself of whatever is in fridge, including beer, and whatever condiments you need. My liquor and wine are not for consumption by guests. No guests beyond those registered in the reservation. Use the many coasters, please, because there is much fine woodwork throughout.
