Sauðárkrókur is about 290 km, a scenic 3 hr drive from Reykjavik. Situated in the northwest of Iceland, Sauðárkrókur is the largest town in the Skagafjörður region. A short detour from the main ring road will bring you to this quiet fishing village with a population of nearly 3,000. This little town offers sea, mountain and rural vistas, with many wonderful walking/hiking trails. The town of Sauðárkrókur is centrally located to many of the main attractions in the Skagafjörður area and nearby districts. The Skagafjörður region and outlying areas have much to offer the tourist most less than an hours drive away from Sauðárkrókur. Explore the Skagafjörður region by visiting the villages of Hofsós, Hólar and Varmahlið, travel beyond the district to the townships of Hvammstangi, Blönduós and Skagaströnd or tour the very northern regions of Iceland and discover Siglufjörður and Ólafsfjörður.

Was an amazing location that was quiet and only seconds from some awesome bakery's and the bay! The apartment was extremely clean, had a great shower/bathroom, washer/dryer and offered a very much needed sleep on a comfortable bed after a long day of hiking! Vicki was an amazing host who met us on arrival and was able to show us the place, give us some helpful information on what to see on our next leg of travel, and even provided food for breakfast! Highly recommended!!Thanks Vicki for staying up late to catch us and all the help! Mitch and Amanda

Vicki was a wonderful host. She took the time to ask us about our plans for our stay and give us pointers. The kitchen is equipped with what you need to make a meal and Vicki leaves some breakfast items. The fresh bread from the bakeri was delicious! Vicki's place is a must on your trip.

We loved this apartment. The decor is wonderful, the size perfect, and having the ability to wash our clothes half way through our trip was pretty great too. Definitely stay here if you are in the area!

We stayed one night and wish we'd been able to spend longer! The apartment is wonderful, comfortable, bright, with a great bed, sitting area, kitchen and bath. Vicki was so welcoming and even provided a wee bottle of wine, and some breakfast food for us, as well as some great advice.

Vicki User ProfileVicki is a superhost.

I am an Australian woman/artist/printmaker who fell in love with the landscape of Iceland in 2009. I decided to have a major sea change before age and health became an obstacle and moved from Australia to the small fishing town of Sauðárkrókur in North West Iceland. I live in an apartment on the top floor of a large old post office building which I purchased at the end of 2010. Since then I have renovated the building creating a small art studio for myself, plus two spacious studio apartments for holiday rental.
