Our farm lies close to the national park Peneda-Gerês, nestled in the hills with clear spring water. The simple house with granit terrace is basically one room with a tribune sleeping place and annexed bathroom. Vieira is 3km away with supermarket...

The space

Tranquil location on organically run farm, where the donkey call might wake you up in the morning. We are a young family living aside in the main house.

Interaction with guests

We can offer you information about points of interest in the region.

Other things to note

We prefer if you stay at least 2 nights.

Our seven year old daughter summed up the atmosphere of this place. 'It's paradise, mummy,' she said within minutes of arriving. Indeed it was. Within an idyllic rural setting, near the Gerês national park, the property is located next door to Lilian's family home. There are hammocks hanging in the garden, a fresh water pool and glorious grounds - where they grow organic vegetables and home three donkeys - to explore. With lovely wooden features and granite surfaces, the house is genuinely rustic; we all loved it (including our five month old baby!) It was a refreshing tonic after nearly two weeks of camping in Spain. Lilian was the perfect host and made us feel welcome after a last minute booking. It was interesting chatting to her about the wonderful way of life they have made for themselves. We hope to return one day!

Staying at Lillian's house was the highlight of our holiday. I was reluctant to leave. The house is essentially one large room with a mezzanine floor as a bedroom. There is also a bathroom. A traditional stole built building but lovingly detailed, all hand made from the door knobs to the staircase. A large stone patio outside is shaded by trees and a canopy and was a perfect place to sit and relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of the mountains. Lillian, Stephan and the children live next door in the farm house and are a delight. They met us as we arrived, made us feel so welcome. They have good English so we had a number of conversations about their life in this rural idle where, after the children, their self sufficiency, and environmental consciousness were central to their lives. So staying at this amazing place is more of an experience than just a roof over your head. Lillian gave us a guided tour of the farm which included ancient farm buildings and a newer roundhouse which is being finished off for guests. If you can tear yourself away, the house is situated on the edge of the National Park, so it provides easy access to some of the most stunning scenery and dramatic trekking anywhere in Europe. Vieira do Minho is very close by with all the amenities you need and because of the tourist trade to the Nation Park there are plenty of bars restaurants and attractions near by. If it is high end luxury you are after Lillian's house is not for you , but if you appreciate living lightly on the planet (with Wi FI), then you will love it here. We will go back.

As soon as we arrived we felt at home in this stunning countryside. Freshly picked flowers and home grown tomatoes awaited us in our beautiful stone cottage. A perfect area to explore on foot, or a great place to simply stop and chill. Of course, we wished we had booked for longer than two nights! Thanks so much to Lilian and her family.

Lilian and family's rustic stone house in the countryside is a very magical place. We had an amazing time. The location of the house is beautiful, nestled into the hills, with lots of walking trails from the front door. At night we sat on the stone terrace looking out across the fields as the sun slowly sank behind the hills. Lilian and her lovely family are very kind and friendly. They made us feel very welcome. There is a very peaceful and happy atmosphere on the farm. There is lots of great animals on their farm, including a very handsome and friendly dog and a gorgeous baby donkey. The stone house is very well equipped, and lovely vases of fresh flowers from the farm added a vibrant splash of colour. The fresh spring water pool was a delight, and very welcome after a hot walk through the forest. We were only here for two days but wish we had come for longer.

What a incredible place and beautiful family. Myself and my boyfriend stayed only for a night and the morning. But as soon as we arrived we were greeted with such warmth and shown the wonders of the farm. If you are looking for a stay amongst nature and simplicity this is place for you. This was my first time using airbnb and I was not disappointed.. The house itself was gorgeous and bed so cosy in the arches of the roof. We had a morning swim in their spring pool, water coming straight from the mountains above. What an incredible home. Thank you for such a beautiful stay x

We choose this place because of its closeness to the Peneda Gêres National Park. Our host Stefan has good suggestions about where to go, even drew us a map. We almost didn't want to leave the farm, it was so beautiful and peaceful there. Lilian and Stefan were super nice. The cottage is lovely, unique, clean and well equiped, though one might run out of hot water faster than desired. Lilian's instructions were perfect for finding the farm which seems remote once you are there, but it really is quite close to town. The town Vieira do Minho has a good supermarket and bakeries and butcher shop.
