Large double bedroom with sea view (15x13 feet), private terrace and adjacent private shower/toilet. Coffee/tea/snacks in room. Guests are always delighted by their safaris in our garden where we have resident badgers, red squirrels, foxes and glow worms throughout the year. Dolphins and seals can sometimes be seen too just 15 min walk to our nearest beach. Great location for coastal or country walks

The space

This large downstairs double-bed room (size 15x13 feet/4.5x4 metres) has TV with DVD player and adjacent private shower room and toilet (5x3 feet/1.5x1 metres). The room is most suitable for a maximum of 2 adults but there is room for a blowup mattress on the floor or travel cot for an infant or a baby. You will also have your own private terrace with views of the mature garden and the sea. We have a second smaller upstairs room with side window views of the sea for short Airbnb stays if family or friends want to also stay.

We provide towels, hair dryer, alongside complimentary shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. There are coffee and tea making facilities in your room and snacks too (Ellemiek loves baking :-).

If there is anything else you may need, feel free to ask, we would be happy to help.

The room is part of a 5 bedroom historic Victorian villa occupied by the family. Cars are parked on our land by our double garage, then it is a short walk 140 feet/40 metres down a gravel slope drive to our secluded house.

The Botanic Gardens is only a few minutes walk and there are several beaches closeby too. One of our favourites is Steephill Cove where they sell fantastic crab pasties.

Guest access

Guests are welcome to explore our 2 acres of mature garden and woodland again with glorious panoramic sea and coastal views, however there is no guest access to the upstairs outdoor balcony. Make yourself at home!

Interaction with guests

As this is our home, we are on hand to give advice whenever it is needed, however respect the need for privacy, peace and quiet. We are a friendly and sociable well travelled family.

Other things to note

Living here with us are also our two lovely cats, Socks and Moon. They are both lovely and friendly and are mainly outdoors enjoying the garden, but please be aware if you suffer from allergies.

A very special mini mansion with its own secret garden, Ellemiek & Graham's place is a wonderful, quiet, secluded hideaway. You'll need a car or a stout pair of boots to get there but the effort is well worthwhile. Lovely house, enchanting location & helpful but unobtrusive owners.

Response from Ellemiek:
Glad you enjoyed your stay with us. For next time you will be pleased to discover there is a wide range of public transport even to our street on the No 31 bus. There is also the train to nearby Shanklin and a widerange of buses across the island. The No6 bus stops at the Botanic Gardens - 5 minutes walk from our house along the pavement where no stout boots are necessary at all, as with all the nearby streets. All the surroundings are also easy access, with paved and well light roads, and no walking boots are really necessary unless you are hiking in the hills or scaling the seacliffs. The walk to town is only one mile.

Gorgeous setting with doors out to the garden. Large room, plenty of space for the travel cot. Welcoming hosts. Ellemiek's tasty cookies and cakes were a lovely touch in the room. Comfy bed. Everything you need is there, anything else you can just ask and Graham/Ellemiek are happy to help. Thank you for a lovely stay!

This is a fabulous house, very well situated and intriguing. Beautiful gardens and a dreamy path down to the Botanics. We had a wonderful time walking from there to the beaches, and we had lots of great recommendations from Graham about where to find quiet places to swim and explore. The bedroom is very spacious and comfortable, lovely double door opening onto the garden, and badgers right in front of us! I stayed with my older children and we found this a very friendly place to stay. A lovely family.

Ellemiek and I really enjoyed meeting you too and delighted you had the chance to see our resident badgers and red squirrels, as well as taste the super fresh fish cooked next to the fishing boats in Ventnor.

We are an active family of 4 who love to travel. We love doing house swaps and are excited to host others who love traveling too, when we are on the island. We have lived in Holland, America (Colorado and Utah), Morocco, Spain and Saint Helena and have travelled to 4 of the 5 continents (never quite made it as far as Australia, but our family did host an Australian exchange student once :-)
