A beautiful room within a beautiful property and an excellent location. The house is very close to the beach and we had a lovely time wandering around Whitstable. The breakfast in the morning was particularly impressive and I enjoyed looking at Phillip and Janet's beautiful photography and art work.

We have been lucky enough to have stayed in a lot of air bnb's throughout the UK, Australia, Portugal and France... Phillip & Janet's home is definitely up there as one of our favourites and was exactly what we both needed! Beautiful and light, warm & bright with a sense of intrigue. The linen, the pebbles, the art, the photographs and THE breakfast!!! Our first ever homemade sourdough French toast California style on morning no. 2 was beyond indulgent and each morning exceeded expectations, each time allowing us a rare glimpse into the hosts world. Outside of the obvious attractions of the space itself, what really stood out was the 'dinky dye' as Mel would say, the real conversation and enthusiasm for life that Phillip and Janet briefly shared with us. From gardening to photography tutorage - from a classic master as well - each conversation revealed a new layer of experience and expertise that was a joy to listen too. Our Sunday morning conversation was both poignant and honest with a sincerity that resonated with us both.. We only wish that there had been more time to truly get to chat further, although I'm sure we'll be back in Whitstable and would definitely stay with Janet and Phillip again...

Philip and Janet are a charming, friendly and most welcoming couple. Their home is bright, sunny and happy with Janet's amazing paintings lighting up every room. Situated in a quiet residential street, the town centre is a short 5/10 min. walk away. Spotlessly clean, beautiful linen and with thoughtful touches like tea & coffee provided in the room and an exquisite breakfast - we were thrilled to have found this listing. Their lovely garden is fascinating - and well worth a browse. This was our fist Airbnb experience - and we enjoyed every moment of our overnight stay. It was like staying with friends.

This was a perfect stay. It was our first visit to Whitstable and we booked at the last minute rather than returning to London. Janet and Phil were extremely accommodating and friendly. Their house is airy, light and welcoming. Janet is an accomplished painter and Phil a fine art photographer and their creativity and taste is represented in the decor. Breakfast was very tasty, Californian-style and the room was comfortable and well-appointed. I stayed after breakfast and chatted with Phil about photography, California, fossils and geology. He's a fascinating, well-educated genial guy. I can't recommend staying here enough and we will definitely return next time we're in town.

Philip & Janet User ProfilePhilip & Janet is a superhost.

Philip has lived in Whitstable for 6 years, having relocated from San Francisco / LA. He is a well-respected black and white photographer with a passion for food and pebbles.
Janet has lived in Whitstable for 10 years and is a fine artist and art teacher. We have been married for 5 years and love Whitstable, oysters and lifestyle (art, nature, sea, light, family, food etc.). We spend time together (gently) cycling in the local area as well as visiting family and friends in London, when not spending time on the beach and rummaging in the great local junk shops and boot fairs for treasures.
