Other things to note
Cong is central in the Connacht region. It is only forty minutes drive from both Galway and Westport - lively tourist hubs. Cong is actually the gateway to Connemara and ideally located for those who enjoy most outdoor pursuits. It is possible to walk from the house in most directions and enjoy peace and nature uninterrupted. It is located on a narrow neck of land between Ireland's two largest lakes.
It is a profoundly important historic region. It has been inhabited for many thousands of years and both significant archaeology and built heritage abound within walking distance.
It is an excellent base for car touring. As mentioned Connemara is close by. There is an excellent tour around scenic Lough Mask, the Maam Valley and onto Ireland's only fjord, Killary. Beyond Westport there is the spectacle of Achill Island to the northwest and to the south you will find Ireland's holy mountain, Croagh Patrick.

We are a family of five. My husband is a teacher. I am a stay-at-home mum at present but have previously worked in sales and marketing. We have a nicely spaced family in that our eldest is in university, our daughter is in secondary school and the youngest is still in primary school!
