This place is extraordinarily beautiful. The minute we walked in we were struck by the architectural style of the house, and how it is designed to cleverly use light to be cool in the sunshine and yet still provide beautiful views. It was very hot when we were in SMA and we appreciated the doors that could be opened to create wonderful cross breezes. There are many beautiful spaces in this house. The roof garden is gorgeous with lots of fully blooming color garden containers and a breath-taking sunset. There is a lovely barbecue area that we used one night that is under cover which came in handy when the heavens opened as we began to barbecue. We also enjoyed the large hot tub. The house itself is beautifully decorated in a Mexican style with lots of ceramics and comfortable furniture. The kitchen is very well-stocked should you choose to cook in. We did not spend much time at the house because we attended a wedding but loved coming back to the house after the various festivities. We always walked to town (about 15 minutes to the square) but that may not be for everyone since it is quite steep and path is made of round river rock. We sometimes took a cab home and it was always reasonable varying between $2US and $6 US depending on time of day and distance. We found communication with Robert to be extremely prompt and effective. We highly recommend staying here.
This is a GORGEOUS, well equipped, large home in the Atascadero area (2nd oldest in SMA). Bedrooms are lovely and beds very comfortable. House is spotless and the kitchen is absolutely complete with utencils, dishwasher, comfortable tables and chairs. It's very quiet as it's a little outside of centro which means you escape endless barking dogs and bell ringing (well you can hear some but not as invasive as in town). Gardens are well kept and beautiful, several inside and outside places to rest, eat or relax + spa! Extra towels and amenities and full washer & dryer ! The best airbnb we have stayed in the world (we are world travelers). Highly recommend 100%!
It is cold, dark, dusty and overpriced. Not a walkable area, very steep and rough roads. Not recommended...
Response from Robert:
So sorry you didn't enjoy the house. This is our first negative review and we take it seriously. However, the house is painted a rich, Mexican colonial terra-cotta color. Most guests have lived the natural life the house gets. Our maid works very hard to keep the house clean. Others have called it spotless. There is construction in the area but we have no control over that it is pretty much the norm in Mexico. There are 5 fireplaces in the house and a gas heater in the kitchen. Every room has a heat source. Again, so sorry you didn't enjoy.
We could not have asked for a better first Airbnb experience! Everything about our stay was absolutely perfect. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the house keeper who showed us the house and came twice during our stay to keep things tidy. The hot tub was much bigger than the photos suggest and easily fit all 5 of us. The walk to El Jardín was easy as it is all down hill and took about 10-15min. If you're able bodied, walking back up isn't terrible and you can easily catch a cab for 40 pesos. The downstairs grill was perfect for dinners and on the nights it rained, there was a great movie selection. The view from the rooftop terrace was to die for and was our go to place for pre dinner cocktails. Everything was provided from towels to shampoo and robes, I didn't even need to bring my hair dryer. We were in heaven. Robert was always available for anything we needed and made sure to check in with us. We will absolutely book again next year. Thano you for sharing your beautiful home.
Bob was very friendly and responsive from the very beginning, no matter the time of day. He answered all of my questions, and there was plenty of information in "the binder." The maid was waiting for us before we arrived, and informed us that we could request someone to make breakfast for us, if we wanted. The views are out of this world, as it's up on top of a hill looking down on the town. The house is a work of art - ever nook and cranny. There are limitless options for sitting and chilling out and enjoying the view. There is a gas/wood combo fireplace in every room, and a GORGEOUS dipping pool/hot tub that heats up in minutes. I have never stayed in a more beautiful home, and the price is amazing. The beds are luxurious, as are all of the amenities. There are multiple levels and seating arrangements on the roof-top, and gorgeous-sounding speakers throughout the house. I just can't say enough about the place!
