Chez DarMa offers 6 beautiful ensuite bedrooms, 2 kitchens, 3 terraces, log fireplaces and a open central light-well. Fabulous home from home for a large family or group of friends.
The riad is cleaned daily
The riad is very spacious but also very cozy. So great for both small group and big groups.
As it is a traditional riad with a central light-well it is very quiet and private.
Riad rental means you have the whole of the riad for yourselves.
Interaction with guests
I will meet you at the riad and explain everything about the riad and Essaouira. If you have any problems during your stay or have any questions I am always on hand to help.
Other things to note
Breakfast is not included but can be ordered. We offer a superb breakfast with fresh fruit, yaourt, pan au chocolate, crepes, bread, jams, eggs, freshly squeezed orange juice, tea or coffee. 50 dhs per person. It is served on the terrace and it is a great way to start the day.
Halima, our house-keeper is a great cook and is always available to cook tajines and coucous.
Although Halima will come to keep the house clean for you she is not a maid, and expected to do all your dishes or clean up after you. Her role is to keep the riad, which is big, clean from dust and dirt as the centre lightwell is open and Essaouira is known to be a windy place! She will make your beds and clean the bathrooms, the terrace and the communal areas. If she has time she will do her best to do other things, however, I need to make it clear that this is not her function normally.
At the end of your stay I do expect the riad to be left in a decent, respectable state with any furniture or items belonging to the house left in their orginal positions/location, towels and sheets to be left on the bath rails or folded neatly, not thrown on the floor. Rubbish to be taken away or left near the entrance.
The rental of this riad is on a self-catering basis. By this I mean that we will supply you with some sugar, coffee, tea, washing up liquid and toilet paper to start you off, if you need more it is up to you to supply/buy it.
Smoking is permitted on the terrace and any of the open areas within the riad, but please No smoking in any of the rooms.
Breakages: If you break anything best to just replace it.

I have been living in Essaouira for the last 9 years, and I am still loving it!
I am English but have spent most of my life outside the UK.
I first came to Morocco in 1990, but at that time I never thought of living here. I eventually came back a second time in 2006, and eventually moved here permenantly in 2007. I can't believe it has already been 9 years!!!
I have 2 lovely houses in the medina and look after two others for friends - which I could not do without the help of my partner, Hassan.
I also have a little 'Afrikan Shop' in the medina, selling handmade things and clothes made with colourful African wax print fabric - what a great excuse to explore this amazing continent - as Hassan and I source everything ourselves!
I will always be available to answer questions and queries, so that you can have a wonderful, relaxing holiday.
Hope to see you soon.
