Chez DarMa offers 6 beautiful ensuite bedrooms, 2 kitchens, 3 terraces, log fireplaces and a open central light-well. Fabulous home from home for a large family or group of friends.
The riad is cleaned daily

The space

The riad is very spacious but also very cozy. So great for both small group and big groups.
As it is a traditional riad with a central light-well it is very quiet and private.

Guest access

Riad rental means you have the whole of the riad for yourselves.

Interaction with guests

I will meet you at the riad and explain everything about the riad and Essaouira. If you have any problems during your stay or have any questions I am always on hand to help.

Other things to note

Breakfast is not included but can be ordered. We offer a superb breakfast with fresh fruit, yaourt, pan au chocolate, crepes, bread, jams, eggs, freshly squeezed orange juice, tea or coffee. 50 dhs per person. It is served on the terrace and it is a great way to start the day.

Halima, our house-keeper is a great cook and is always available to cook tajines and coucous.

Although Halima will come to keep the house clean for you she is not a maid, and expected to do all your dishes or clean up after you. Her role is to keep the riad, which is big, clean from dust and dirt as the centre lightwell is open and Essaouira is known to be a windy place! She will make your beds and clean the bathrooms, the terrace and the communal areas. If she has time she will do her best to do other things, however, I need to make it clear that this is not her function normally.
At the end of your stay I do expect the riad to be left in a decent, respectable state with any furniture or items belonging to the house left in their orginal positions/location, towels and sheets to be left on the bath rails or folded neatly, not thrown on the floor. Rubbish to be taken away or left near the entrance.

The rental of this riad is on a self-catering basis. By this I mean that we will supply you with some sugar, coffee, tea, washing up liquid and toilet paper to start you off, if you need more it is up to you to supply/buy it.
Thank you.

Wonderful Riad in the medina, the open roof allows plenty of fresh air during the day. Amazing breakfast is offered and I suggest go for it!! We cooked meals for our daughter and all the convenience stores are located at walking distance if that’s what you need to do. I will definitely stay again.

A really beautiful 5 story Riad, just inside the Medina walls, quiet but everything is easily walk able and there isn a great Moroccan feel on the streets. Book it.

A wonderful riad, with really clean and cozy rooms and lots of places to hang out and relax from the buzzing city (or superb kite-/wind-/surfing sessions). Allison was super helpful and responsive during our whole stay. Hassam and Halima prepared delicious and filling breakfast and dinner at a reasonable price. Clear recommendation!

We loved our stay in this riad from the very first second we came in. Light and nicely decorated rooms which are really similar to each other so we had no problems while sharing them between us, group of 10 persons with different personalities. Big kitchen, beautiful roof top terrace, warm bedding (what is really important in January in Essaouira). And very communicative owner, who answered all our questions and gave all information we needed.

Allison is a very welcoming and charming host and the house actually reflects her caracter. The riad is beautiful! Well furnished, decorated, clean and welcoming. We really enjoyed staying in the Riad and it suited our family of eight perfectly. We spent xmas there and on the night of the 24. of des. our friends came over for dinner, which Halima made and was delicious! Halima also made us breakfast every morning during our stay and it was wonderful, like she is. Hassan is also very kind and helpful. So Allison is surrounded by great staff. The riad is well located in the Medina and short walk from there to the parking. We liked that it was not next to the main streets, because then it was more quiet. I really recommend this beautiful riad and Allison as a host. It really made our experience of staying in Essouira more joyful ;)

I have been living in Essaouira for the last 9 years, and I am still loving it!
I am English but have spent most of my life outside the UK.
I first came to Morocco in 1990, but at that time I never thought of living here. I eventually came back a second time in 2006, and eventually moved here permenantly in 2007. I can't believe it has already been 9 years!!!
I have 2 lovely houses in the medina and look after two others for friends - which I could not do without the help of my partner, Hassan.
I also have a little 'Afrikan Shop' in the medina, selling handmade things and clothes made with colourful African wax print fabric - what a great excuse to explore this amazing continent - as Hassan and I source everything ourselves!

I will always be available to answer questions and queries, so that you can have a wonderful, relaxing holiday.
Hope to see you soon.
