The space

This truly stunning house is centrally located in an excellent neighborhood and is truly the perfect spot for Jazz Fest, getting to the French Quarter, the Museum of Art, Cafe Degas and many other great attractions in the city. The fairgrounds are literally in the backyard and the place is a quick 5 minute drive over to the French Quarter. There are three bedrooms and 2 baths here, a large kitchen (no stove though), a kitchenette area, and a "decorative" weight room even (weight bars have been removed for safety reasons). This listing is for the entire downstairs, over 2000 square feet with a private, separate entrance from the upstairs. It is in an older wooden home built in the 1800s, which really gives the place its charm and character, but also please be aware that it's not fully updated or perhaps as comfortable like a newer home might be and has some quirks like lower water pressure and little insulation (although large central AC units overcome this very easily and comfortably).

The owner, Bill, in is in my opinion one of the city's most talented interior designers as pictures might hint at, and staying here in person is really a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Bill helped me decorate my house on a major budget (see "Fabulous City Park Getaway") so I'm returning the favor by helping him rent his downstairs out for some additional income to help maintain this historic home in its pristine condition. He will stay upstairs, which is separate unit but one of us will be there to greet you, give you keys and get you settled. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to send me a message. For 99.99% of people who stay over, simply making "common courtesy" the only rule would be more than sufficient. But there's always that one person who makes life more difficult. So, here's to you:

1)No outside guests or extra guests allowed in home
1a) This may be the most important "rule" and I have therefore made it number one, and it has yet to happen with the numerous guests I've hosted, but please be aware that by accepting this booking you agree that as a host, I have the right to ask you to leave if I am in any way uncomfortable with your being here. If I do this, I will offer you a full refund for the remaining time of your stay and will aid you if asked in finding new accommodations, but by accepting this booking, you agree to vacate the premises promptly if so requested. (I've learned with just a couple bad experiences that this is an all-too-important clause that would have saved me a lot of headache in the past had I included it).
2) No smoking inside
3) No drugs
4) No pets
5) There is no daily housekeeping service; fresh linens and towels are included but a daily maid service is not.
6) Please contact me a day or two before arrival to confirm ETA and keys, and to make sure I'll be there to greet you.
7)Understand that sometimes I will not be available to greet you as I have other obligations to attend to. In those scenarios, I will make sure you are able to get into the house without any problems.
8) Keys must be returned upon departure; failure to do so will result in a $100 fee to get both locks changed.
9) Guest agrees not to download any unlawful content while using the host's wifi.
10) Homeowner is not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that occur while on premises or its facilities.
11) Please respect noise and foot-traffic levels at night so other neighbors do not get upset.
12)Checkout is 11:00AM. If flexibility is needed, please let host know in advance.

Mike supplied a fantastic booklet with everything we needed to know about our stay in New Orleans. The house was exactly like it was on the website and give us the flavour of the area. It was very close to the tram station, the trams ran every 20 minutes and cost 1 dollar 25. The area the house was in was beautiful as well and we couldn't have picked better. There were plenty of towels blankets and bedsheets etc. When we contacted Michael about anything he always replied within a couple of hours and wanted to make our stay the best possible which it was so thank you.

The house was great, so much space and lots of character. All the bedding provided was good, and everything was clean (there was the usual dust you'd expect from an old house but nothing much). Although we never met Michael I think he's a great host, sending over very detailed information on the house and area prior to arrival and organising the key handover well.

Could not be better, Michael was really helpful with pre- arrival arrangements and we had a Great time in what can only be described as an unusually decorated property. Lots of fun and interesting pieces in the house. Loads of space. just loved it. Every thing it said it was and Michael was really helpful, always responded to requests promptly.

Staying in the house is an interesting experience; it's an old New Orleans property, with eclectic interior decoration and artistic objects. The ground floor was sufficiently spacious for me and my family and the location was fantastic. Minutes' walk to City Park and decent places to eat (Liuzzas by the Track for BBQ Shrimp Po Boys, Cafe Degas for fine European cuisine and Pandora's for Snowballs). The street is quiet and friendly and the Streetcar stop that takes you right down to the Quarter is less than a 10 minute walk away. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Michael's house is beautiful, recommend anyone to stay there. Nice area but more importantly the house itself is beautifully designed and very spacious

I've become something of an AirBnB veteran now with over a year's time hosting people and it's been a truly wonderful experience, one that's allowed me meet some great people and see the world just a little differently. I'm someone who loves to meet new faces from all walks of life, and as an avid traveler myself I can share a lot of my travel experiences as well as my expertise on the great city of New Orleans. And I have lived here for over half my life, so I have plenty to share! Some of the things I love to do include reading, art, health, cooking and as mentioned, meeting new people.
