Description

The space

The house offers a comfortable living and kitchen area, bathroom with shower and loft bedroom with double bed. It has it's own private patio at back. The apartment is beside our own home and is set in a large garden with privacy for relaxing. It is located in one of the well known beauty spots of Ireland with mountains and stunning landscapes all around.

Guest access

Access is separate from main house - same driveway. Full access to gardens.

The neighbourhood

Our home is in the Wicklow Mountains with a large garden and lots of privacy although only a kilometre or so from the local village of Roundwood which has 5 pubs, restaurants, grocery and convenience shops, a barber a butcher and a Church. The house is surrounded by forests, mountains, lakes and reservoirs and Roundwood is one of the villages on the Wicklow Way walking route. The important historical site of Glendalough is only a short 20 minute drive from our house. Roundwood also has the advantage of being only 15 minutes drive from the N11 motorway which takes you to coastal towns along the east coast such as Greystones, Bray and Dun Loaghaire within about half an hour. Dublin city itself is approx 45 - 50 minutes drive from the house.

Getting around

Popular destination for cyclists. A local St. Kevin's Glendalough bus passes twice a day. Best to have a car.

Other things to note

Guest are welcome to garden vegetables and herbs in season.
There is an extra fold up bed for a third guest/child. Also sofa is comfortable enough to sleep on.

An absolute gem! By far one of the best places we have stayed with airbnb. Sheila and Paul have thought of everything with some lovely touches too. We would definitely recommend and hope to come again!

The cottage was bigger than we expected with a lovely sitting room full of books and a really nice kitchen which is totally equipt for any kind of cooking you might want to do! Paul and Sheila had left essentials like tea, milk and sugar which was great! The cottage was really clean and has everything you could need, it was the perfect base to explore the grat hiking in Wicklow and also to relax. We had a lovely stay, would definitly stay again! They were lovely hosts, very friendly, helpful and accomodating.

We had such a lovely stay at Sheila and Paul's Twitzel Cottage. The house was perfect for a cozy getaway. We loved hiking in the beautiful surroundings, coming back all tired and cuddle up with a book and a pint of Guinness around the fireplace. Paul and Sheila were really friendly and welcoming, giving us great suggestions for nice hikes and scenery routes, places to eat and visit. We also loved that we had the opportunity to harvest berries, veggies and herbs from the garden. We felt really welcome and at home. Thank you so much and we hope seeing you again in the future!

This is a lovely place to stay, Sheila and Paul are excellent hosts who provide everything you might need. The house is comfortable and well equipped and in a beautiful location in county wicklow. The fire is a real bonus on a cool Autumn night. We would definitely book again.

Thanks Paul & Sheila it was a perfect getaway. We recommend the Glenda lough walks & especially a visit to Mount Usher garden. The cottage was just perfect for our needs. Paul & Sheila have the perfect balance of being a good host but giving you privacy.... we hope to be back ASAP.
