This is a quaint, historic cabin that was just the right size and location for me and my two children, ages 10 and 14 who wanted to do some gem mining and hiking in the Franklin area. Tommy and Kathy greeted is with a tour of the home, and provided SNACKS and Homemade bread for the duration of our stay. The cabin is rustic yet elegant with its 1890 era antiques and carefully laid out details. There are 2 beds up in the loft--a king (where me and my 10-year old daughter slept) and a twin. Both are comfortable. The kitchen and bathrooms were clean. Kathy and Tommy obviously go above and beyond for all their guests--not only did they make activity suggestions --but they also escorted us 40 minutes to a little known hiking trail for my rock hounds! Great stay!

We highly recommend this lovely place! The historic home is so clean and charming, the mountain view is so peaceful, the creek was a lot of fun for our little one, and Kathy and Tommy are kind, wonderful, and thoughtful hosts. If you're looking for a quiet spot off-the-beaten-path, this is a beautiful and blessed home that can't be beat. Do be aware, though, that if you bring a small child along and get the cookie barn down off the top of the fridge, you may find yourself humming "Green Acres" for a week :)

Response from Kathy And Tommy:
That "Green Acres" tune does stick around for awhile! Hope you found your folks doing well. It's hot and sticky in Memphis. Going home Friday. Travel back home safely!

Kathy and Tommy's place is so precious and carries so much history. They went out of their way to make sure everything was good. It's not too far from anything but also gives you a scenic drive when you do leave. Cell reception is not good so it's a perfect place to "unplug." The place is so peaceful and I enjoyed the amazing view as well. Perfect little place!!

We had a very pleasant stay at The Homestead. The location of the house is extremely scenic, and quiet. Sipping tea while watching the sun go down over the mountains was an amazing experience. Kathy and Tommy were very responsive and helpful throughout the stay. The house is equipped with all necessary amenities, and is wonderfully decorated. Will definitely visit again.

Perfect! I should stop writing here, because there really is nothing else to say. This place really is perfect. We were section hiking part of the AT and this was a perfect base to work out of. It would also be perfect for activities at NOC. The attention to detail was phenomenal. It was a pleasure to stay in this historic building.
