Cuddfan - hiding space - is part of Wildernest, a haven set in the coastal hills above the delightful Aeron Valley. Sleeping is in croglofft, above the kitchen diner, with cosy snug and shower room; underfloor heating and log burner; free to explore

The space
Cuddfan is part of the old stone range in the former cart house and stables. Adjacent is Ty Twt and the Long Barn.

Guest access
Please feel at home and wander around the meadows, wet grasslands and woodland. By keeping to paths, ground-nesting birds and animals are not disturbed. The Long Barn is available for the use of guests, with its open wood fire, sofas, piano and table football. There may be other guests so please respect their privacy.

Other things to note
There is no television but broadband can allow you to use your computers. Phone signals are okay outside but non-existent indoors because of the thick stone walls. Don't worry, you can always use internet communications.

Aberaeron, Wales, United Kingdom

Wildernest is a wildlife haven set in the hills above the delightful Aeron Valley. It is a magical microcosm possessing that precious commodity of seclusion. The habitat, neglected farmland, is being managed to produce a rich biodiversity of plants and animals. Occasionally ponies graze the wet pastures and there are two ancient hay meadows with abundant wild flowers.
There are two special aspects to the landscape here - the Cambrian mountains and the Cardigan coast - making this a real green and wild destination. The Cardigan coast is notched with a chain of secluded coves with nestling villages. It is one of the best spots to see sea life with regular sightings of dolphins, porpoises, and seals. Seabirds perform from nests on the cliffs and it is one of the few places to see the masterful aerobatics of choughs. Cwm Silio is one the best-kept secrets; this beautifully secluded cove lies down a path from the back of a graveyard, through temperate rain forest, past waterfalls, across streams and butterfly- strewn slopes. There's not an artefact in sight. Further on, Castell Bach iron-age fort remains with the incredibly folded rock formations.

Architect and smallholder, with Jude my wife who spends all the time she can in the gardens and her studio. We live here at Wildernest in the farmhouse where we can stay happily for days without venturing out on the roads. We love the peace and slow life here, contact with nature and especially the ease of people. Our guests since we opened in 2011 have been wonderful and highly appreciative of the seclusion at Wildernest.
