The Annex is a generous double bed cottage with a sofa bed in the sitting room. It has a kitchenette and shower room, with secure off street parking. It looks out onto the garden and the decking, with lovely views of the countryside around us.

The space

The Annex is set opposite the main house, in the garden, with views of the surrounding countryside. It has a large double bedroom upstairs with a kitchenette, showeroom, and sitting room, which has a double sofa bed in it.

Guest access

Guests will be able to use The Annex as their home base while they are there. They can enjoy the garden and decking with a garden table and chairs, and the use of a BBQ. The garden looks onto beautiful views and guests can go for long walks on the many footpaths around us.

Interaction with guests

We will always be on hand and be delighted to help with anything.

Other things to note

Drey Contemporary, an art consultancy and gallery is run from the main house, as well as a dog boarding service, where we have family dogs to stay when their own families are off enjoying themselves! The dogs are all well behaved, and generally very quiet except when I get their leads out for their walk!

Lovely countryside setting and kind and attentive hosts... thoughtful gestures like stocking breakfast things for us and suggesting good local restaurants.

From the moment we arrived Davidona made us all feel very welcome. The annex had everything we needed for a quick overnight stay and certainly made a change to staying one of the hotels in Saffron Walden. Won't hesitate to come back again if I need to stay locally. Beautiful accommodation in a beautiful part of the UK

My wife and I, along with our two little dogs, had a wonderful stay at The Annex. Our host Dona and her partner greeted us when we arrived with big smiles and buckets of hospitality. They gave us a tour and we were quite pleasantly surprised at the charming little place. All seemed to be in working order and all the essentials for a stay are here. Dona even left a few breakfast items and food staples in the fridge, which was a very kind gesture. Dona and her family were all great hosts and they helped to make our stay a memorable experience. I can honestly say that they are genuinely kind, generous, and helpful people and we will most definitely return to stay at the Annex. The location is well-suited for those interested in touring around the area. Cambridge and Bury St. Edmunds are both an easy drive as well as some historic manor homes (ex: Ickworth and Audley End) and also the breath-taking countryside (Constable Country). There are great views to photograph along the many walking footpaths in the village. For those interested in places further afield, Houghton Hall, Holkham Hall, and the coast are certainly a worthwhile trip - all of which are an hour-drive away. There is so much history in the local area and Dona will give advice on the best of the best things to do. For the shopping essentials, both Tesco and Sainsbury's are close by, and the nearest town of Haverhill has a good market day a few times a week. For those interested in antiquing, there are great antiques centers in Clare and Long Meldford. I would recommend the Annex if you are traveling in the area. You will have a fabulous time and make many happy memories and, of course, you will have countless chances to take great photos for your family photo album.

The accommodation at the Drey is excellent, dogs are also welcome. A good range of basic essentials was provided. I booked it for my relatives from Canada and they were very happy. It is centrally located for Cambridge and bury St Edmunds sightseeing also historic Suffolk and Essex. I have already recommended to other family members. The hosts were very helpful and accommodating.

A perfect weekend. The annex is lovely and cosy and newly redecorated. The hosts were so friendly it felt like coming home to family. It's set in a sleepy village surrounded by lot of pretty towns, such as Long Melford and Lavenham and within 30 minutes of Cambridge. My only regret is that we didn't have time to sample the 2 local pubs, so we'll definitely be back.
