A beautiful little stone cottage with coplete privacy. Set in the beautiful and fascinating Kaya Valley, near Fethiye.
Minimum stay 5 nights. Price includes welcome dinner first night and breakfast "kit" first morning.

The space

'Brides' magazine described Beatrix Cottage as one of the [12] most romantic in the world.

It is set on a rocky hillside overlooking the beautiful Kaya Valley, near Fethiye.

The ghost town of Kaya is a mile away. That town is the venue for the drama in Louis de Bernieres' masterpiece 'Birds without wings'. The cottage is recommended in The Sunday Times and The Telegraph.

The cottage is totally private, is entirely detached from its neighbours, and the ideal resting place for stressed out professionals. [Or honeymooners].

There are local beaches, simple restaurants and basic supplies in the nearby village. There is no disco or 'Red Lion'.

There are two swimming pools within walking distance. Fethiye town is a short drive away and there are beaches which can be reached by public transport, just 6 km from the cottage. The village is steeped in history and your hosts are a mine of information.

Beatrix cottage is lovely. It is ideally located if you wish to be in a secluded spot away from hustle and bustle. The hosts are extremely convivial and all our needs were provided for. A lovely meal was waiting for us on our arrival and the fridge was well stocked with essentials. All linen was spotless and was ample for our needs. The provision of beach towels was extremely useful. Note: The hosts keep a large number of cats and they can be quite intrusive - but fine if you love cats! We encountered dogs in the immediate environs of the cottage and these were very noisy and sometimes quite aggressive towards us strangers. However, the cottage is set in a village environment and so the above is what can be expected. A certain amount of basic, though essential, maintenance was lacking i.e. the bathroom door had no functioning catch or lock and the outdoor furniture (deckchairs and lounger) were not very clean. We got around these problems and I would certainly recommend a stay at this cottage.

Beatrix Cottage is the place to stay if you want peace, quiet and to relax and unwind. The cottage is simple but has immense rustic charm and is furnished with everything you need. The hosts, Bea and John, are delightful, kind and generous people who cannot do enough to ensure you enjoy your holiday - be it welcoming you with late night food, giving you a tour of the valley, advising on where to visit or introducing you to locals over a drink or two. The surrounding area is beautiful with beaches, walks, cycle rides all easily accessible. The village is a short walk with some lovely places to eat and drink. We can't recommend a break at Beatrix Cottage highly enough.

From start to finish, an absolute joy. 11 pm & John & Bea welcomed in two very stressed out travelers after a particularly problematic journey from home with the most wonderful two course meal. The bottle of wine hit the spot too! Woke to find they'd also left a tray of Turkish breakfast ingredients ( cheeses, olive, roasted peppers, etc) in the fridge which only had to carried down to the terrace to get the whole relaxation process under way. John came over & checked on us & offered the tour around the valley. We knew Kaya well from previous visits but did take up his offer of get together later that afternoon for a drink & chat at a local restaurant. Both wonderfully warm, friendly people with a wealth of stories after 20 odd years in the area. The cottage has everything you could wish for & more. Feels like moving into someone's home. There were vases of garden flowers in every room, the antics of the two local cats kept us amused for hours & the deckchairs & seating on the two terraces insured there was always somewhere to curl up with a book in sun or shade as desired. We could only stay a week so lazily did not do any cooking. Several new restaurants opened so explored those (Efetto recommended) & old favourites, Blue Butterfly & Cin Bal. Last evening looming & Bea popped in to invite us for a drink as 'We felt guilty we didn't leave you as much food on the first night as we usually do'! Another jolly session where they insisted on buying us a plate of meze. Just too generous. Last day on the beach, back to the cottage 4pm'ish for final shower & packing & were waved off by John & Bea after a look around their lovely home. We will be back & can't recommend this experience strongly enough.

Beatrix & John are simply wonderful people and the cottage is as charming as its owners. We really felt at home in the house: everything is simple yet cosy and comfortable. We would rest on the terraces under the shade and various cats would come visit us. On the first day, John was kind enough to show us Kayaköy and the Kaya Valley. He presented us good places and people. He also told us good stories about the area (John is an excellent story teller). And during our stay, Beatrix and John cared about our feeling and gave us new ideas of visits. Staying in Beatrix Cottage has been the best Airbnb experience we had because Beatrix and John really welcomed us so that we were not mere tourists in the village but rather guests of Beatrix and John. And this made a huge difference! We will never forget this trip.
