This large, comfortable 4 bedroom 1860's stone house is a 5 minute stroll along the quay to the typical French village of Montignac where you will find a daily market and numerous shops. Lots to see and do in the area or enjoy relaxing by the river.

The space

This beautiful house, Les Noisetiers, is right in the middle of the village but once the gates are closed, you will feel as though you are in the country as the garden is completely private. The house backs onto the Charente river (where you can swim, fish or canoe) and you are surrounded by trees and open garden spaces.

You will have access to:
2 canoes to explore the river

Hairdryer in each bathroom
3 TVs

Dianne's place is beautiful! The pictures and descriptions don't do it justice! The host is quick to respond and willing to help. They provided lots of information on the area and things to see and do whilst we were there. We loved being so close to the river and exploring it using the kayaks. The locals are really friendly and we would recommend that you make use of the patisserie, boulangerie and daily market. You would need a car to get around the area but the village itself is a lovely place to relax.

Dianne and Peter's house is full of fine details and character and a place where you feel at home instantly. Of course the location right by the river is the main asset but we found the surrounding area ideal for hiking and mountain biking . The village is charming even more so once you settle with the relaxed pace of the French country-side. Highly recommended!

We had a lovely stay at this house in Montignac-charente. The facilities and environment were great. Also the kids loved it. It was unfortunate that the dishwasher died, but but within a few days a new one had been arranged. We hope to be back some day.

This was our best holiday rental ever - it was like being dropped into the middle of a Monet painting! The house is amazing, the garden is just beautiful and the river is the icing on the cake. We spent most evenings swimming and kayaking on the river and during the day we visited nearby villages and chateaus and bigger tourist destinations such as Cognac, St Emilion, and Angouleme. Montignac is a beautiful village with a great bakery and fruit & veg stall and there's a great supermarket less than a 5 minute drive away. The house is stocked with everything you could possibly need and decorated in a lovely french style. Though in the village, it's very private and peaceful. 6 of us stayed - 2 adults and 4 teenagers and we all loved the holiday - there's a fab pool and beach on the lake in Angouleme to keep everyone entertained. This is a beautiful part of France and we were blown away by how friendly everyone was. We can't wait to visit again.

This is a lovely peaceful location and very restful next to the river. Canoeing and swimming in the river is possible. It is also 1 minute from a village with a small market and shops for daily provisions. The house was lovely (as the pictures described) and our teenage daughter loved the separate apartment. The bedrooms were bright and comfortable and we had a lovely view of the river. the living areas were spacious and comfortable. The house is close to the road but a huge gate closes the road off and makes things safe and private. We had a really nice holiday and we would stay there again.

The house and surroundings were very beautiful and we really had a relaxing, enjoyable stay here. We enjoyed having barbecues and evening drinks on the terrace by the river and the freshly made croissants in the morning from the local bakery. The house was stocked with everything we needed and we felt very at home. Location wise, we were in easy reach of Bordeaux and La Rochelle as well as Limoges. We were told that the canoe was broken a day before we arrived, which was disappointing, however we managed to temporarily fix it for our stay. We really recommend exploring the river, it was a great way to spend our spare time. Dianne always replied very quickly and all in all we had a very peaceful holiday in a beautiful environment. Thank you.

My husband Peter and I have two passions - travel and renovating houses. We have owned our Coolum beach house for the past 18 years and have spent many happy times there. We have now also fulfilled a long term dream of owning a house in France so that we can spend time there each year. To make this all possible we have decided to share our lovely homes with others.
