The apartment is perfectly situated in a vibrant district and ideal for exploring Palermo. We found that most attractions & shopping areas were no more than 15 minutes walk away and several excellent restaurants and bars were only a couple of minutes walk from the door. We were greeted and shown around as soon as we arrived by Emanuele whose English was excellent. We had everything we needed in the apartment and the AC was a big bonus during our trip in July. Very highly recommended!

Lovely apartment in the heart of old Palermo, handy for restaurants and with a supermarket minutes away, though the street markets are cheaper and more fun. Good air con, slowish Internet, but serviceable. Needs a basic manual, simple map showing local features, guide to how the kitchen appliances work, where to get the bus to the nearest beach - which is stunning and not to be missed. Do not contemplate hiring a car - Unless your suicidal.

Our stay at Francesca's place started off amazing! The hosts had our best interest at hand, and they gave us a detailed breakdown of sights to see, places to dine and excursions we could do. They even had their driver pick us up at Palermo airport and drive us back to the airport for a decent price. This was my 8th time to Italy, and 3rd time in Palermo, so I have seen many apartments and the size of the apartment was what drew me to this location. The location does not get better than this place. Also, it is very big by Italy standards. The two balconies are beautiful and a great place to hang out. The mezzanine was very promising (however, since it was dreadfully hot, we could not even sit in the mezzanine as it felt as though we were in a sauna). Another surprising thing was, we were not permitted to turn on more than two air conditioners at a time because if we did, this would blow the fuse and we would lose all power. We respected the house rules and there were many moments when it became so hot we felt uncomfortable. You would have to literally walk into one of two air-conditioned rooms to cool off. Nonetheless, I still liked the apartment, it was very charming. This would have probably been the best place I had ever stayed at in Palermo had it not been for the bed incident. One of the single beds in the room was not stable and shaky (some Italian beds are held by small chains, unlike American ones which have a boxspring); however, I had no choice but to sleep in this bed because the mezzanine was literally a sauna. The bed was so uncomfortable and I couldn't make any sudden moves on it because it felt wobbly and like it was going to break with any minor flinch. Once we departed from this apartment I was contacted by the host for "breaking their bed" which is absurd! I was asked to pay 100 euro, which is 153$ Canadian. I was completely dumbfounded and shocked. When I wrote back to the host explaining the situation regarding the condition of the bed when I found it, no reply was sent to me. BEWARE: Check the condition of items and if you see anything wrong, contact air b&b immediately. I called air b&b once I received the request for money, but I should have contacted them sooner. I almost feel like there was some sort of ploy to replace the bed (it was very old and meant for a child to sleep on). I hope the host understands that this was an issue that occurred before our arrival and does not expect money from us. We paid over 1000$ to sleep here for a week and we had to definitely make some sacrifices. We were very respectful guests. Aside from that, I still recommend the apartment and the hosts were...

Hi Lisa, Thank you so much for staying with us and for your nice review! We would love to clarify a couple of things, starting off saying that we apologise you could not perfectly sleep in the single bed, that is actually a standard adult size bed, not a child bed as described in your review. If you had told during your stay that the bed structure wasn’t stable, we would have certainly done our best to provide you with a new bed. Our guests satisfaction is our priority, and as you said, we had your best interests at hand since your arrival at the airport. Before you left our apartment, we weren’t aware of any issues with the bed. After you checked out, we found out that the bed structure was bended. Consequently we contacted you seeking a partial compensation. In the meantime we were also in touch with the owner of the apartment, that after a few days replied to us kindly confirming she will take care of it at her own expense, regardless of the responsibility. We are really sorry you felt a bit uncomfortable on this occasion, but rest assured it has never been our intention to do so, and no ploy was ever made against you to fix the bed structure. Regarding the house rules limiting the use of the A/C system, this is also due to issues with the city power network during summer peak times and the risk of damaging the system, having to look for and then wait for an electrician during a holiday period and all the resulting trouble for our guests. Hope this will clarify what happened, and make you feel better and happy to come and visit Sicily again. A presto. Francesca & Giuliano

The was a great apartment. You could easily walk to a lot in Palermo and there was a great little bar street a half block down. The patio was amazing and the kitchen spacious. Elizabeth met us right on time and we had a wonderful time.
