Space to relax in an idyllic woodland, with paths, ponds and willow structures. Own kitchen, with two ring gas burner, or BBQ,or enjoy a campfire outdoors.
Ideal area for walking, or cycling, exploring North Wales or the Tourist towns of Chester and Shrewsbury. Explore Ironbridge or the Llangollen Canal.
See also our Bell Tent and unique Grain Silo.

The space

The space is secluded by trees and it is this privacy which makes this glamping experience very popular with our guests. This unique Romany wagon has all the basic facilities for visitors to enjoy the outdoors. Our four acre Smallholding is peaceful and away from traffic noise.
It is suitable for those who want a break from everyday life , to enjoy a unique experience, maybe eat out locally and explore the beauty of Shropshire. There is a now a fully equipped undercover camp kitchen for the sole private use of visitors staying in the Romany Wagon. It now has a kitchen sink with running water on tap. Also a two ring burner and undercover dining area. This undercover kitchen is spacious with a table and chairs, cupboards for food, a cool box and kitchen utensils. Just bring food, if there is anything we haven't thought of, just ask.
It has all the possibilities for a unique camping activity, BBQ cooking, relaxing by a campfire, enjoying your own food and wine , maybe staying up late to watch the stars and getting back to nature, in a private setting.
The nearby working smallholding is organic, off grid and selfsuficient in meat and veg. Roz and Phil will be around to make sure you are comfortable and have all you need, but we will leave you to enjoy your own area.
This interesting and inspiring site also has a vintage air stream caravan(1970) a show wagon (1947) and a craft hut built as a shepherds hut. Roz's Craft hut is popular with guests who have a similar inclination and you may book a craft session on arrival.
Bring tea lights to provide a romantic setting, also if you bring a good torch or camping lantern it would be useful.

Guest access

Toilet with cold wash basin, located up the field.
There is a nearby hot water shower installed for guests.

Interaction with guests

Hosts Roz and Phil are welcoming and friendly and will seek to make the accomodation comfortable.
The Romany caravan is tucked away in the corner of the field, giving guests a very private experience . We think of it as a private area where guests can experience the outdoors in comfort, wander through trees, along mown pathways and sit by one of three secluded ponds, hear birds sing and listen to wildlife away from the city and traffic noise.
It is an idyllic way to get back to nature, in a private setting.
We do leave our guests to enjoy the space, but we welcome them to have a guided tour around our vintage property and share ideas about our lifestyle too. The Romany Caravan was featured at the local Malpas Yesteryear Rally pulled by our vintage Ferguson tractor.
We are mostly self sufficient , we talk a lot about vegetable gardening, keeping pigs, cows, chickens and growing trees, particularly willow.

Ros and Phil are great hosts. They are genuine, helpful, friendly and interesting people and we had a good laugh with them. The site is wonderful, they built it all themselves and every bit of it has been built with imagination and creativity, and they happily showed us around. The actual gypsy caravan is beautiful, it is very comfy and is surprisingly roomy inside. You also get your own shower and toilet, and a cute kitchen hut with everything you need for a BBQ and to prepare your food. There is ample space and it is secluded by trees which gives it a peaceful relaxed atmosphere, but if you need anything you just have to walk 30 secs up the field! The area is beautiful and we ended up choosing to go to church stretton which isn't far from the site where we went walking and paddling under a waterfall. Its just a great place to go to get away from it all switch off and de-stress. I have stayed in Airbnb's all over the place as well as log cabins and center parcs etc but this has been the best place I've stayed it's awesome and we can't wait to go back again :)

We loved staying at Ros and Phil's place. The gypsy caravan was unique , comfortable and the setup they have made is great. They have created a little private area by the caravan which was great for relaxing and spending time in. It had a nice covered cooking and sitting area with a chimera to keep warm later in the evening. The location is out in the beautiful Shropshire landscape not far from Telford/Ironbridge and Shrewsbury.

Having never been glamping before we weren't sure what to expect, and we're a little worried we would be too far out of our comfort zone, however our experience with Roz and Phil exceeded our expectations. Everything we needed was provided and more, the setting was beautiful, the gypsy caravan was surprisingly cozy and despite everything being outdoors, it was surprisingly well equipped! 10/10 would definitely go back.

Roslyn & Phil are the perfect hosts, kind, caring, friendly & knowledgeable. We even got free ice-creams, freshly ground coffee, home grown strawberries, freshly laid eggs, and a fantastic crafting session, which I highly recommend! We made jewelry, and learned to crochet! The Acorns are like a patch of heaven, perfect for an idyllic break to get away from it all. We absolutely loved the gypsy caravan. Beautiful and very cosy. Facilities all excellent, fantastic being so eco-friendly and unique. We will definitely be back.... I can wholeheartedly recommend staying here, we relaxed and refreshed after just two nights!

The Acorns. Wow! What a beautiful place. Our stay there was beyond our expectations. The caravan is beautiful and everything we needed was provided. I was worried I might be a bit cramped at 6'2" but the bed was big enough nice and cosy. We had our own private little woodland, equipped with a purpose built rustic kitchen hut. Heated by Chimnea. Additional fire area, rocking seats, large table and chairs. Barbecue. We also had blackbird nesting in its eaves of the kitchen. We spent a lot of our time wandering around the farm looking at birds, ponds and nature in general. When darkness fell we watched bats flying over the ponds. Very peaceful and an escape from our normal life. Roz & Phil are perfect hosts and very friendly. We will definitely be going back.

We are a self sufficient , off the grid organic smallholding. I am Roz, a retired teacher and enjoy crafting in my shepherds hut, my husband Phil and I are well travelled, interesting people who aspire to living 'the good life'. We produce our own meat and veg and our collectables include a 1947 Show Wagon and a 1970s Airstream caravan and our 'workhorse' is a 1951 fergie tractor!
We are growing a small woodland including willow for basket making and willow structures.
Our Glamping Site is a tranquil oasis and we invite you to come and relax outdoors and enjoy our creativity.
Phil loves building small spaces. We only accommodate up to three couples, this year this will include the idyllic Granary Grain Silo and matching kitchen, in addition to the Luxury Bell Tent and Romantic Romany Wagon. All private retreats.
Relaxing, glamping at its best...
Roz and Phil Hill
