The space

This charming one bedroom apartment is on the famous Rue des Eperonniers - a small cobblestone street located one minute from the famous Grand Place, the heart and center of historic Brussels and less than 5 minutes from the new Square Brussels Meeting Conference Center. The apartment is located in an historic building dating from 1680. It is fully equipped and has a lovely attached garden/terrace for your personal use. As of October 2014, the Rue des Eperonniers has become a pedestrian- only street. This makes it virtually impossible to drive anywhere near the Grand Place by car. In this safety conscience world- this makes the apartment even more secure. In addition to a comfortable bedroom, it includes a new sleeper sofa (2 person), linens and pillows from American Pottery Barn store, flatscreen TV with cable channels including CNN, BBC, Bloomberg, Discovery Channel, high speed Internet access, WIFI, American style kitchen, plates, wine glasses etc, washer/dryer, convection oven, electric kettle, dishwasher, small European refrigerator, toaster, American coffeemaker, DVD machine (plays both US and European DVD's) with a collection of DVD's to use in apartment, collection of travel guidebooks for apartment use, plug-in speakers for computer, radio, (2) electric fans, iron and iron board, heaters in every room, including bathroom, hair dryer for guest use, lighted makeup mirror and much more... all in the middle of Brussels' most famous location. The bedroom has an antique armoire and comfortable full/double bed. The bathroom is equipped with toilet, sink and vanity, storage shelves, mirrors , and shower with large shower head. There are huge glass doors to the front with small balcony, doors to the garden from the kitchen and also from the bedroom. The attractive apartment has lovely original hardwood floors and high ceilings with crown molding.
The apartment is located less than a 5 minute walk to the Gare Centrale which has direct service to Brussels Airport and connections to Gare du Midi for travel on Eurostar , Thalys and TGV. The Metro/ subway and bus/tram are close by. There are more than 400+ restaurants in a five minute radius of the apartment including some of the most famous restaurants in the world and charming old world cafes. The famous Rue des Bouchers- ( restaurant row) is a 1 minute walk behind the Grand Place. The apartment is located on the second floor (American) -- first floor- European). There is a staircase to the floor- no elevator. The apartment is footsteps from the Royal Palace and Royal Museums, Musical Instrument Museum, Grand and Petit Sablon (weekend antique market) and art galleries, the Manneken Pis, Galeries St-Hubert, Lace Museum, designer shopping on Avenue Louise and Rue Neuve, and famous beer pubs. Car parking is available one minute away at GrandPlace Parking (approx. 15 Euros. daily).
Because of the apartment's ideal/perfect location to the Grand Place, there is a slight increase in prices for the world famous Tapis de Fleurs (Flower Carpet) and the month of December due to the holiday festivities and events (Christmas Market and National Christmas Tree/sound and light show) at the Grand Place. Please contact the owner for long stay inquiries.

Other things to note

I furnish nice fluffy towels as well as all needed paper products and cleaning materials for you in case of spills. :) There is also soap for kitchen and bath provided. There is a nice hair blower as well as a big magnifying make up mirror.

Greetings. I am sure you will enjoy this apartment. Remember, the entire building is NON SMOKING. This building was built in 1680 so it is historic. The location in the very center of the historic district makes it important to do the following: be sure to always lock all of the outside doors at all times; - there are three main doors. One outside door which is open daily from 10AM to 7PM as it is entry to the little boutique and then a second door for hallway entry. The third door is the apartment door. carry trash out in the evening and deposit in the containers found around the apartment for tourist use. This apartment is in the center of the World Heritage Trust neighborhood and we all try to keep it looking great. As this is a residential apartment, please no loud music.. people have to get up each morning for work. Please no smoking in the (URL HIDDEN) is a no smoking apartment. There is a very comprehensive Guest Guide Book in the apartment which explains how to use Internet/ TV/ etc. The apartment dates from 1680 so I always try to respect its age and importance in history. It is in the center of the UNECSO World heritage trust zone which makes it in a very important neighborhood. The apartment is not suitable for young children and babies. There are two balconies which drop to the street and a small child/baby could slip through. Thank you for understanding. I'm a mother, too and always think of these things for parents.

We stayed at this flat near Grand Place in Brussels over the long weekend around Valentines day. The location of this flat is perfect - walking distance from most places to see in Brussels. The flat itself is in an old building and quite warm and cosy and comfortable. Being so ancient though - some stuff is quirky like the 3door entrance via a dank corridor mentioned in some other reviews. Melissa is a thoughtful host and she has taken care of a lot of small conveniences such as a well appointed kitchen with all utensils, extra towels, blankets and the like, maps, tourist guides and other information suitable for a short stay. My only negative experience was noise and light in the living room at night from the road outside. If you are a party of 4 with light sleepers using the sofabed, you will have problems. The positives far outweigh the negatives and this is a 4 star recommendation from me. -- Family of 4 with 2 young children.

Melissa's flat is absolutely charming. It is in a great location - near the Grand Place and walking distance from Brussels Central station. So it was easy for us to get there taking the Eurostar. The first two days were for work so it was also an easy commute - just a walk to the rail station. Melissa's colleague, Charlotte, met us and was extremely helpful. Melissa has compiled an amazing compendium of what to see in Brussels - including restaurants and pubs - she provides maps where the locations are indicated! The flat is extremely comfortable and the terrace is delightful.

We had a lovely stay in Melissa's flat. It is a great location, just around the corner from the main square, but it was still quite quiet, particularly in the bedroom which is at the back, not overlooking the street. You have everything you need in the flat by way of cooking utensils to have a good meal in if you fancy cooking with some of the local ingredients. And Melissa knows plenty about the city if you want to ask for tips on what to do. We would certainly consider this flat again if we come back for another stay in Brussels.

We stayed at Melissa`s and I definitely DON`T regret anything about my stay. The apartment was perfect, clean, cozy and wonderfully furnished with everything you need and maybe more. I didn`t find any of the complaints about the noise or the toilet to be true. The bedroom was quiet and even the neighbourhood was (consider it is 1 minute far from the Grand Place!).The shower was really big. The time we spent there was one of the most valuable ever and we will definitely go back. Melissa and Charlotte were also incredibly thorough in their explanations and always available. Melissa also gave me great suggestions regarding everything I needed during my stay. (In case of need you will also find every kind of information written down for you in a guest book). We were treated very well and, being a traveller, I would definitely and highly recommend it. Hope to be back soon!
