The neighbourhood

Our home, declared a National Monument, sits in the middle of a 500 year old "Olive Tree Grove" originally planted by the Spaniards - now referred to as "El Olivar". This is a stop sight for tour buses to depict the history blended together with the most prestigious estate homes.

This green oasis, regarded as the 'breathing lung' in the city, is engulfed by many beautiful mansions from the beginning of the 20th century and holds the municipal government, the district library and two lagoons.

The park is the perfect place to laze away whether it be for an hour or for an entire day as it is a haven for not just people, but for an entire ecosystem. Today there are somewhere around 1,675 olive trees in the 57 acres of the original olive grove, as well as more than 30 species of birds that make this park their home. As you take a stroll through the park you may find professional photographers taking pictures of the birds and the trees; newlyweds having their wedding pictures taken; nannies strolling babies and toddlers; people having picnics under the trees; folks of any age walking, jogging, doing yoga, tai chi, or simply sitting on any of the many park benches; and last but not least, dog owners with their dogs.

Our home is walking distance to:

- A 5 minute walk to many of the best rated restaurants in Lima and the world such as "Astrid & Gastón" at number 33, by renowned Chef Gastón Acurio (list of all these restaurants are available in the E-guidebook)

- Less than a 5 minute walk to Hotel Sonesta in El Olivar

- Less than a 10 minute walk to San Isidro's business district: Swissôtel Convention Centre, banks, embassies, and shopping centers

- Lima Golf Club, a popular place for joggers to jog around the perimeter

A short 10 minute cab ride to all of the following:

- Two of the world's best restaurants: At number 5, "Central" by the recently named world's best Chef Virgilio Martinez and at number 8, "Maido" by Chef Mitsuharu Tsumuda

- Kennedy Park located in the heart of Miraflores district is a trendy tourist spot surrounded by a vast array of restaurants, cafes, shops, hand crafters, artisans and street food vendors

- Larcomar Mall overlooking the ocean in the district of Miraflores, neighboring district of San Isidro

- The promenade called "Malecón de Larcomar" also in the district of Miraflores is the best spot to enjoy views of the Pacific Ocean

- The district of Barranco, neighboring district of Miraflores, is considered the city's most romantic and bohemian spot with many trendy bars and restaurants

*Distance between our house and Jorge Chávez International Airport: 15 km/10 miles. Approximately a 30 minute ride.

Getting around

It is very easy to get a taxi on the street, or calling one to come pick you up from the house (recommended option). We have made a list of reliable taxis that you can find in the guidebook that is in your room.

We can arrange to have a private driver who knows the way to our house very well, pick you up from the airport (or drive you there) and wait for you right outside the airport doors holding a sign with your name on it. Simply ask us and we will arrange it.

Danika and Maria exceeded our expectations for our stay in their beautiful home. Our bedroom had clean fresh linens, plenty of down pillows and a great mattress. There was a large closet complete with wood hangers and sachets, a beautiful dressing table with a chair facing the most beautiful park filled with rows of Olive trees. A french door opened out to a small Zen patio with 2 comfy chairs where we could watch the locals walk their dogs or school children walk to school. The house is located in San Isidro, one of the best neighborhoods in Lima with great restaurants and great little boutiques and a Starbucks Just a couple of blocks away. Jump on a taxi and a short ride away you are in another great neighborhood called Miraflores. The first morning, our hostess had prepared a beautifully presented delicious European style breakfast complete with French press coffee, fresh baked breads and pastries, fresh squeezed orange juice, a bowl with sliced mangos, bananas and apples adorned with a fragrant plumaria flower from her garden. There was also a delicious cheese omelette and a wood tray filled with wonderful sliced cheese and ham. My husband and I could not have been happier to have such wonderful hostesses. Every morning of our stay our breakfast was always a visual and culinary delight. Our bathroom was immaculately clean, complete with thick, soft towels, body shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. On the sink we found a little wicker basket with mouth wash, tooth paste, and various other personal hygiene goodies. Of course there were fresh cut flowers in both the bathroom and bedroom. I have to mention, the bathroom had the most beautiful flowered tile, and high vaulted ceiling with sky lights. There was also a inviting and comfortable t.v. room filled with beautiful eclectic furniture and decorations from her travels. The house is amazing with a large formal dinning room, with a large wall with built in "nichos". Large sliding doors take you out to a lush garden. The hostesses Danika and Maria were welcoming, warm, and very accommodating. My husband and I are scheduled to come back and spend a couple of days on our return from Cusco before we leave Peru to go home.

The house is gorgeous, and the breakfast was a work of art and care. If you are arriving from the airport in the early am hours, you will need to be careful not disturb the household's sleep.

Danika and Maria were so welcoming and absolutely wonderful people. I really felt like I was visiting family from across the world, who I just hadn’t yet met. This place is truly stunning; wonderfully decorated to the last detail - so much to take in, and so immaculate. My god, the breakfast spread! Just incredible value here. Like staying at the finest hotel that money can buy. I absolutely loved the olive park, and found it quite easy taking in the vegetation, strolling through the beautiful neighbourhoods down to the beach for a surf. So nice of them to accommodate my late flight back home. So very understanding and caring when I fell under the weather. I hope one day that I meet a nice girl, who I can impress and pamper by taking here. Love this place.

What a wonderful place to stay in Lima! Danika, Maria and Fernando will pamper you with kindness, treat you to a scrumptious breakfast and anticipate all your needs at their amazing AirBnB. Not just on the Parque Olivares, the site is IN the park, surrounded by 350 year-old olive trees planted by the Spanish Conquistadores. The home itself is a monument to good taste and exquisite living. The room is large, comfy and clean, the bed was perfect and facilities were luxurious. We even had the nice touch of a private taxi service to Lima airport on departure. If you go, plan to make breakfast a high point of your day, because it will be. Take something to read, because you'll want to either sit in the park, or luxuriate in the large, quiet living room surrounded by greenery and calm. If I had one suggestion, I'd want bathrobes available to guests, but it's hard to think of a better experience. When we return to Lima, there's no other place we'll stay.
