The space

The house is a recently updated row-house in an up-and-coming neighborhood. The interior has a minimal, Scandinavian modern design aesthetic with plenty of plants ;) Two bedrooms, 1.5 bathroom. There is also a studio/office that can be used as a third bedroom with an air mattress. The home is close to public transportation and I-95 to get around Philadelphia.

The rental bedroom includes a queen size bed, closet, dresser, and TV (with PS3 gaming system, Netflix guest account), free wifi and access to a washer/dryer in the basement.

Nearby amenities include a 24hr pharmacy (Rite-Aid) and gas station (Wawa), grocery store, and great local bar/restaurants (Memphis Taproom, Bait & Switch, Green Rock Tavern). Central Fishtown is a quick 15-20 minute walk for a ton of other great bars, restaurants and shopping.

I'm happy to help set you up with fun things to do and dining options!

Convenient to public transportation (Septa bus) and plenty of street parking.

Guest access

You're renting the bedroom, but don't feel like you're confined to only there. Any space in the house is usable for guests. Shared first floor and kitchen.

Interaction with guests

I'm around and available by phone whenever you need. I'm also happy to show you around the city or give you the space and privacy you need.

The neighbourhood

We are across the street from a park and a quick 10 minute walk from amazing coffee shop (ReAnimator Coffee), breakfast sandwich place (Coffee House Two), brunch spots (Loco Pez), ice cream shop (Little Baby's Ice Cream), and pizza shop (Pizza Brain).

Grocery store is right down the street and CVS.

I really enjoyed my stay here during a conference in Philadelphia. It was a short and inexpensive uber ride to the convention center, and it allowed me to stay in this beautiful space. I loved the feel of this home, and Dustin was an awesome host! I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to other travelers.

This is a great place to stay! It is very close to everything without being right in the center of the city. Deva, Dustin, and their dog Lennon were wonderful hosts. They made me feel welcomed and gave me great recommendations to keep me busy. I felt I could hang out with them when I wanted, and they respected my privacy when I needed it. I felt right at home staying with them.

Deva was great! She made it super simple. She was flexible with our arrival time and gave us local restaurant and bar suggestions.

I was on a research trip in Philadelphia and wanted to live room to room with local people. I couldn't have been happier! Living with Deva, Dustin and Lenin (the incredibly cute and handsome Pitbull Boxer mix) felt almost like home. The house is beautiful, thoughtfully arranged, bright and calm. The cozy and clean personal room comes with a TV, PlayStation and Netflix. But even better is the fact, that they share their whole house with you! So, altogether it's pretty much of a living community feeling that awaits you there. If you are communicative and open minded, you will find two wonderful young people to share some time and your experiences with. They gave me all the comfort I could have imagined and always had a friendly ear. In the end, I've had an unforgettable time in Philly and that is to a great amount because I’ve lived with Deva and Dustin (and Lenin, of course)! Directly around the corner you'll find a good supermarket with a broad product range, pharmacies, an amazing (sushi &) beer store and a gas station. Also in walking distance is the young and vibrant Old Fishtown, a neighborhood in motion where you can find dozens of locations to have cold or hot drinks and fantastic food. If you don’t dread a good walk, you can reach Old City within an hour-long hike, crossing the thriving neighborhood of Northern Liberties and ambling along the impressive Delaware. So if you want to get in touch with locals and have no problems with sharing bath and kitchen, I can only recommend staying at Deva's and Dustin's place. It was an awesome time!

Beautiful townhome with bonus of Lenin, their dog, who's up for cuddling anytime. Deva and Dustin were very welcoming and would provide excellent sightseeing/food suggestions. They were fun to chat with, but also give you privacy if you needed. Would recommend to anyone to stay!

*The Hosts* Deva and Dustin are laid-back but attentive hosts that care if their guests are comfortable. They encourage the use of their entire home and want you to know where everything is located so that you're free to help yourself with anything you'd need. They're also happy to hang out and talk about your day, personal stories, or shared interests. Also, if you're a dog lover, there's a big bonus waiting for you. *House and Location* In terms of the location and the house amenities, I found it to be a very convenient place for my week-long stay. All of the common amenities were there and it's a cool/cozy place. Their house is in a slice of Port Richmond that I appreciate for its modest working-class residents. Despite being near the edge of a busy street one side and a major highway on the other side, it's a little less hectic (in my brief experience) than other neighborhoods. For a daily commute to Old City, it was an easy ride via bicycle. If I'd had to walk everywhere, and I wasn't prepared to call Uber frequently, it would have been less convenient. But, there are several bus lines in the area - though I'd recommend Uber if you need to be anywhere at a specific time.
