Thanks Stefan. It was a real pleasure hosting you and Philine. I hope you arrived back in Sydney safely (with enough good food on the way :)) Love to have you here again.

The location of the studio is fantastic. The little garden was peaceful and breezy and the beach is very close. The accommodation is basic but very clean - we enjoyed a few days without TV or internet but this might not have been great if the weather hadn't been so good, also the toilet is kind of in the kitchen (just behind a partial door) which could bother some people. Overall we had a lovely, relaxing time in a beautiful place.

I stayed at this location for 4 nights with my girlfriend over New Years, and it was a little gem tucked away in the trees. The creek was 5 metres walk from our bedroom for a swim in the morning, or it was a minutes walk in the other direction for the beach. Local shops just 5 minutes down the road, but would advise to hire a car if you want to explore Byron Bay or Ocean Shores and not rely on public transport. Quiet, relaxing, and with a very accomodating host, would recommend this to anyone interested

We enjoyed our stay in Vivi's little cabin very much. It is a calm place right at the small river - and a perfect setting for my morning yoga practice. It was fun to discover the wildlife - different birds, water dragons etc. There is a special magic in the morning and evening hours. The beach is only 3 minutes across the street. It is a simple place but you will find everything you need. If you love being at the pulse of nature, it is the perfect place to be. We had our own Wifi hotspot (Vodafone) which worked fine. Vivi is a very sophisticated host and I enjoyed chatting with her. Thank you, Vivi, for making my first encounter with Australien hospitality such a nice one!

Vivi was very friendly and a warm host, she gave us some much appreciated information on things to do and see in the area. She was very open with the use of her home and when you catch her for a chat she is a very interesting and accomplished person, we quickly felt like trusted friends. The apartment is under the main house and is good basic accommodation. What was not clear in the pictures is that the sleeping area and kitchen/toilet are separate spaces connected by an external deck, so any night time trips to the toilet involve going outside across a couple of metres of deck. Not a deal breaker but bracing on a cold night. Unfortunately the apartment does not have a fully functional Wi-Fi service so there is no modem or router to access. Vivi relies on a free Telstra service that cannot be accessed by everyone and is a slow and erratic service on a good day. We only discovered this when I asked about internet speeds the day before we left and this was very disappointing to us as it left us with no ability to access entertainment in the room. Vivi did offer us the use of her TV while she was away, her internet connection and her iPad but these options did not work for a variety of reasons, although we appreciated the offer. The apartment has all of the basics that you need, is close to the beach (you hear the waves at night) and there is a shopping centre (5 min drive) with a Coles and a variety of eateries and other shops. The property backs onto a sandy tidal creek (very pretty) and is well located to access picturesque Brunswick Heads (12 min drive) and the broader and very scenic Mullum area. Ideal for a short stay if you wish to attend events in the local area, want to get off line or if you want to meet a really interesting host. “Thanks Vivi”

Response from Vivi:
Nigel and his wife were a pleasure to have as guests and I look forward to hosting them again. Regarding WiFi , under Radio Frequency I state that Telstra Air is the available free Wi Fi, however anyone can use their phone as a hotspot to access the internet if they are not a Telstra private (not business) customer or don't have a Telstra prepaid mobile account . The photo taken from the living room looking towards the kitchen shows there is a space of one and a half metres of open deck from the living room door to the kitchen then bathroom door, however there is a bamboo blind that can be let down to enclose this short space. My most recent guests chose not to let the bamboo blind down. Perhaps I need to point out the existence of the blind, to guests, especially in cooler weather.

Enjoyed the comfy bed, quiet neighbourhood, beautiful birds in the morning, very private hideaway, and so close to the beach. Vivi is a lovely host.

You really can't beat the location of this little gem of a place. It's located perfectly between a quiet reach of the Brunswick River (Marshall's Creek) and the beach at New Brighton. It's just a short drive to Brunswick Heads, Mullumbimby and Byron Bay, so has a lot to offer depending on what experience you are after. It's a short stroll to the weekly farmer's market (a must), general store and the excellent Yum Yum Tree Cafe so you don't really need to leave the bliss bubble unless you really want to! The bedroom has a really comfy bed (actually two singles alongside each other, but it worked for us, even as a couple), couch, dresser and some wardrobe storage space. There are curtains to keep the light out if you need to bunker down and catch up on sleep in a really peaceful location. There is something really special about being able to fall asleep to the sound of the ocean; we slept so deeply, often unbroken all the way through the night! The seperate kitchen has all of the basics and Vivi was more than happy to lend us a few extras that we needed for our holiday (e.g. blender to make smoothies). The fridge was a having a few issues while were there but Vivi responded immediately by getting a technician out to take a look, which was really appreciated. The simple bathroom connects with a swinging set of doors making the space compact, but fully functional. There is also a washer, drier and undercover clothes line which was really convenient. We loved eating our meals and doing yoga on the lovely deck looking out over the gorgeous creek. Being 20m or so from the beach made daily walks along the magnificent beach a great way to start or cap off our days. If you want a genuine north coast experience in a basic studio without all the hype and congestion of Byron, then this might be the place for you. We had a fantastic time staying here for two weeks over the Christmas and New Year's period and would absolutely consider staying here again. Thanks again Vivi for being such a wonderful host and sharing your slice of paradise with us!
