The space

Villa Petrosa is a perfect blend of past and present, and is a fine example of local, middle-class architecture. Originally part of a 19th century merchant's house, this villa has been given a sensitive restoration to show its unique character. We have dedicated ourselves to designing a modern, comfortable and luxurious accommodation with an historic and educational touch.
In front of the villa there is a beautiful heated swimming pool with a big terrace and barbecue place.
Beautiful private beach with parking place is provided for guests of this apartment in small fisherman's place Molunat 10 km away on the owner private property.
Whether you are looking forward to a romantic holiday, an annual family trip, or simply want to enjoy the beautiful Dubrovnik region with its wonderful architecture and food, Villa Petrosa is perfectly located and will allow you to recharge your batteries and nourish your body and soul.
The Konavle region abounds with nature and respects the traditional way of life and architectural heritage.

The villa is located in the village of Gruda, the center of the Konavle region, just 10 km from Dubrovnik International Airport, and close to many attractions. An excellent bus service connects you to anywhere you want to go (6am to 9pm). (We also offer an option of house + car rental.)

Banks, post office, bus station, grocery stores, doctor, cafée bars, green market, fish market, pharmacy, hairdresser, etc. are a few minutes' walking distance from the villa.

You can find here many interesting historical places and traditional rural restaurants where you can enjoy delicious home-grown food. For example:

• Water mills on the river Ljuta at the famous restaurant "Konavoski Dvori" where waitresses wear the traditional costumes of the region (2 km or 20 minutes' walking distance).

• Highly-recommended traditional restaurant "Koračeva kuća" (5 minutes' walking distance).

• Cavtat – gem of the Mediterranean (12 km) is a perfect place to go for a fish dinner, night life or day trip (mausoleum by sculptor Ivan Meštović, Vlaho Bukovac house, etc.).

• Molunat – a fishermen's village with nice beaches and following the traditional way of fishing (10 km).

• The town of Dubrovnik (25 km) is the historical and cultural centre of this area. You can travel there by road or by water taxi from Cavtat.

• A unique pebble beach below the Konavle cliffs (5 km).

• Historical sites like the bas-relief of the pagan god Mithras dating from the 2nd century, the Soko fortress, Sunday traditional costume dance in Čilipi and its ethnic museum.

• Montenegro bay (10 km) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (35 km) where East meets West.

For those preferring a more active holiday, there are choices of horseback riding, ATV safari, jeep safari, bike riding, sea kayaking, all kind of watersports, etc.

There is much more to see and do depending of your preferences, and we are always at your service to help you with any questions you may have. Please do not hesitate to write and ask us.

Niksa was a lovely host. The apartment was actually easy to find and very clean which is great. It on the main street above shops so is quite noisy in the mornings, but otherwise no problem at all and quite comfortable for us. The hi-light was Niksa's private beach! It was beyond out expectations and the most beautiful, magical place. Absolute paradise and one of the greatest hi-light of our Croatia trip. We would plan a trip back just to spend more time at this beach!

Niksa was a really nice host! He gave us a lot of advices concerning the restaurants to go, he organized a boat trip as well as a wine testing for us. His house is really cosy and ideal for 6 people. It is well situated in the center of the small village of Gruda (shops, bank, post office and restaurants very close) and everyone spoke English. His private beach is wonderful an is really a +! It is not easy to find such a beautiful beach in Croatia and even more to have space in public beaches. Thank you Niksa for the week, it is a place to go!

The Green Lagoon Apartment was perfect! Newly updated with old Croatian charm. It looks exactly like the pictures online and there was air conditioning in every room...big plus! Niksa was a lovely host. He showed us around and was very knowledgeable about the area and tourist attractions. He recommended a wine tasting tour that turned out to be fantastic. I would not hesitate to stay at the Green Lagoon Apartment again. Thanks Niksa!

The apartment is very comfortable and stylish. And there were six of us. Most of it is new. It really is what the pictures show in the website or even better. We recommend it if you don't mind the noise in the morning and evening as it is situated in a busy street and also a buzz (from the butcher downstairs's freezer?) can be heard in one of the bedrooms at night. There are some shops nearby, so you can easily buy what you need if you cook your own food. Gruda is 30 km away from Dubrovnik (amazing!) along a beautiful winding road. The highlight of the Green Lagoon Apartment is the private beach. Spending an afternoon and evening there is awesome! ... a once-in-a-lifetime experience even though it is 10 km. away from the apartment. This is clearly stated in the specifications but for some reason we understood the beach was next to the apartment. Maybe the name? We wonder why the apartment is called "Green Lagoon" as it is inland and you have a nice view from the back window, yes, but of mountains and fields. Some sound advice: read all the information about what you rent and people's feedback carefully before choosing a place! :)

Green Lagoon is lovely, exactly as advertised. Niksa is friendly, extremely helpful and responsive to queries. This apartment is in a small town, while there is some bus service it is limited, almost necessary to have a car. We did know this, Niksa was quite clear, but we did underestimate the "limited" bus service. That being said it is in a lovely area, there are a couple of cafés, stores for groceries and it was nice to experience a bit of real life in Croatia My only hesitation in recommending: the apartment is on a very busy corner and the noise from continual traffic can be loud.

Dubrovnik was the end of our trip across Croatia. We ended up at Niksa's place that is located 30 km away from Dubrovnik in the countryside (called Green Laggon). His home is above the butcher shop of a small village facing the post office where the huge traffic in the morning participate to the picturesque feeling. The bench on the side of the house is the meeting place of the village and local inhabitants are very nice (in particular the butcher speaks very good english and is very friendly). The flat into the ancient house is very well furnished and modernly equipped. Internet connection did not work for some unexplained reason but otherwise you will find all modern comfort that is very pleasant on holidays. Niksa has a private beach that is very nice, pleasant and that is definitely a plus. After long visits across Dubrovnik you will enjoy, relax in a place that is really private, where you will be on your own and that is well furnished. Even if with heavy schedules on both sides, we did not managed to met Niksa for long time, he was always available to supply us with precious advice on where to go, what was the best way to visit the countryside and Dubrovnik (do not go by car it's a real nightmare to park your car during the summer, even private parking are full). Definitely a nice place in the countryside where to stay.
