Very good stay in a secluded setting. Mario is a very good host.

Response from Mario:
The day of your departure (the craftsmen you saw) we installed a new gas-based water heating system to have continuous hot water also in winter regardless the number of guests. The outdoor shower is wind -exposed therefore some leaves may come in in spite of our efforts to keep it clean, indoor showers are of course always in pristine condition.

We stayed for almost a month at Mario's place in Castelluzzo and had a fantastic time. The apartment has everything you need and is really comfortable, peaceful and private. The terrace is a great place to relax with lovely views to the surrounding mountains. It's a quick walk to the sea and there are nice coastal paths on your doorstep. Mario was very quick to respond and very helpful. If you are looking in this area of Sicily we would definitely recommend staying here.

We had a very nice stay at Mario s place. It was a bit more of a holiday home than the other places we stayed in. We signed a contract with Mario upon arrival. We stayed in the upper appartment of the house while we had expected a semi-detached house from the descriptions and photos. Nevertheless we had a wonderful time. Communication with Mario was very good. He welcomed us and provided us with everything we needed. The best was the location. The house is just a few min walk from the sea where you can swim in cristal clear water. The first day we arrived, the sea was too rough to swim but the rest of the stay it was perfect and not crowded at all. It also had a very nice and friendly beachbar which stayed open til late. The natural reservat Monte cofanu is also in walking distance, great for walking, swimming and snorkelling. You can make plenty of nice excursions, to Zingaro, Erice etc or Castellomare where you can rent a motorboat and discover Zingaro by boat. Thanks Mario

Response from Mario:
Thank you Ulli, actually the first sentence of the description explain the Casale is split into two apartment (ground and first floor) and that the 5 seat unit is the first floor, as well as terrace photos clearly refer to a first floor, however I am happy you had a good time and hope to see you again.

Fantastic place, great landscapes around, 100% native Sicilian country side. House interior fits Italian seaside style as we imagine it: nice stylish furniture, cool decor dedicated to sea, etc.; everything is recently renovated. Great place to stay! A few remarks on location: sea is really very close, but water approach is difficult and not kids-friendly. When sea waves are high it is a bit dangerous to swim there. Alimentari (food shop) and restaurants are a bit far, so you need a car or bike to reach it. But when weather is fine, closest beach is great for snorkeling: water is clear and there's a lot of fish in it. If you have a car, there's an excellent beach in San Vito lo Capo, just in 15 mins drive. Fantastic top hill city of Erice is in 30 mins drive, legendary Scopello beach and Lo Zingaro natural reserve with a few amazing azure bays for swimming are also in 30-40 minutes by car. Must see if you stay there! Around the house you can walk, jog or cycle to Monte Cofano reserve: nice place with impressive landscapes, but almost no access to the sea. Summary: perfect place if you'd like to escape from civilization and enjoy beautiful nature living in native Sicilian village on the seaside.
