Rare Earth is a beautifully designed, modern architectural gem with quality finishes in the scenic village of Hout Bay. It is on the main tourist, foodie and wine routes. It's peaceful yet close to all Cape Town's attractions. It's surrounded by beautiful views of mountains, it's near the ocean with beautiful beaches and along the famous Chapman's Peak Drive. The Cape Town city centre and Victoria and Alfred Waterfront is just 20km away on a scenic drive along the coast.

The space

Rare Earth is for the discerning traveller who appreciates slow long days.
Hout Bay is something special. You will be back. Have a look at the site for our favourite things to do in Hout Bay. Rareea(URL HIDDEN)
The house is designed by local architect, Michael Kornmuller. It has contemporary finishes, great views from leather couches or the deck. It is very central to all the great tourist spots in Cape Town. Use it as a base to explore the magnificence of Cape Town.
It a completely self contained house. While the owners live on the property and share a driveway, it is very private. We're available at any time for whatever you need but we also respect your privacy.
We'd love to share some of our best experiences of Cape Town and Hout Bay with guests if they so wish. We're happy to advise on day trips, restaurants and wine estates in the vicinity or further afield. Most of all we want you to have fun, enjoy Cape Town's hospitality and leave with fond memories - and hopefully we'll see you again.
The house is located in a quiet and peaceful neighbourhood.
Unfortunately Cape Town is best experienced by car. However, Uber is also efficient.
Our website will give you more details.

Absolutely beautiful home with stunning views from the front porch. Neeran was a fantastic, helpful host. Two excellent restaurants within walking distance of the property.

What a lovely guest house. So peaceful, with doors that open up to a view of the mountain. You may want to budget in some time to stay in and enjoy the view. There was a woman who came during the week to clean, which was a real treat. Neeran was very responsive to any questions I had both before arriving and during our stay. He had lots of good suggestions. The cafe right across the road has a big play area for kids, that was a nice surprise. Chefs Warehouse is also close by with delicious food and a gorgous view over the vineyards.

Neeran was a wonderful host. We felt very welcomevd when we arrived and the pictures of the house are beautiful, but the house was more beautiful in person. A nice quite neighbourhood which was close to everything with a car. We had our 2 year old with us, and she enjoyed the house aswell and the view is fabulous from the house, especially in the morning and evenings. We felt very at home, and Neeran was always helpful with what we needed as well as recommendations about where to go in town and around the other parts of Cape Town. We are very happy that we booked our stay here, and would definitely book it again when we return to Cape Town!

We enjoyed our stay at Rare Earth very much. Neeran is a great host and gave us a lot of tips and recommendations during our stay in Hout Bay. The house is quite new and has a nice and modern style. The location is perfect for visiting the Cape area including Cape Town and it is close to the wine estates in Constantia. We are looking forward to coming again next time.

From our own travels, we've realized that finding the perfect accommodation will help you enjoy the pleasure of Cape Town that much more. We have fond memories of the architects pad in Florence, the beach house in Mykonos, the room in Positano with the eccentric host and the boutique hotel in Istanbul. All on the road less traveled.

My wife Deidre, a radio pharmacist, daughter Layla (a postgraduate business science student at the University of Cape Town) and I, a communications consultant, would like to share your little piece of paradise in Hout Bay with you.

I previously worked as Director of Communication at the Nelson Mandela Foundation and at Woolworths South Africa. I have an MA in communications from Leicester University in the UK.

We try to tread lightly on the earth and hope the people we come into contact with every day do the same.

Our modern cottage, Rare Earth is for the discerning traveler who knows the value of quality, quiet time, slow long days, tasteful life and good times with loved ones.
