It appears that your experience at our home in Quito was not up to your standards and I regret that and wish you luck on future travels with AirBnB. Hopefully you with be successful finding places more compatible with your needs and overall expectations as you become a more seasoned traveler and get more experience staying in other accommodations with AirBnB. That's the beauty of AirBnB, lots of options in lots of interesting places!
As your travel experience, perspective and review was very atypical and different than all past guests, I feel compelled to respond in detail for the benefit of my future business and to benefit my prospective guests.
- I apologize for the dishwasher 'smell'. It should have been run prior to your arrival as its not typically used, it was overlooked and we will make sure that this is added to our cleaning checklist and will not happen again.
- As far as the lighting goes, switches are standard and while plentiful around the house, they are the typical switch on and off type. The lighting is professionally designed to provide a certain functionality, aesthetic and ambiance that I strive for in my space, created through many options lamps, overhead lights, under counter lights, art lights, dimmers, and overall warm lighting. I'm sorry that you were confused by this, most folks love it. Perhaps the simpler fluorescent lighting of one of the standard brands of hotels here in Quito would have met your needs.
- One of the most important features at Your Home in Quito is the insured security that we offer our guests. It may not be a key card that is used to access the apartment but there are 4 keys, one to the gate, one to the building, and two to the door of the apartment. Typically folks have no problem with this as the key ring is well labeled and they get it with one demonstration and appreciate the security. The type of locks that open from the inside via key are standard here in Quito.
- Another great feature of the apartment is the quiet neighborhood that it is nestled in. A short two blocks away is where the avenue 'De Las Americas' has accessible restaurants and stores. The Plaza De Las Americas with modern restaurants is is a 4 block walk away. Depending on your fitness level the large mall El Jardin and grocery store SuperMaxi is a short 10 minute walk away. As well there are a number of small shops in the neighborhood with fruit, breads, meat, veggies, and more than the basic necessities a two minute walk away. During your visit Jonathan, on a Sunday and Monday, the city of Quito was experiencing a long holiday weekend and schools were also on vacation break and that leaves most storefronts closed and the streets empty as families get away to smaller towns and the coast.
At the end of the day, we designed and built this apartment to a certain standard, and to feel like an extension of ourselves and as a home that we could share with others . It seems to me that perhaps our preferred style of living was not compatible with yours. In fact, all other guests to date have had a totally five star experience and in fact a number of very experienced AirBnB guests have stated that this is the nicest AirBnB they have ever stayed in.
