The space

Pinery is a 1937 vintage cabin in Brightwood, Oregon that we adore...and we want to share it with others that crave a quiet mountain retreat along the Sandy River.

Pinery sits on a 1/3 acre in the woods with a pretty trail to the Sandy River, just 15-20 minutes from skiing, numerous hiking trails and historic Timberline Lodge. Pinery is convenient to great restaurants, too.

The cabin is just an hour from Portland, so it's the perfect retreat for skiing, hiking, playing golf, and for anyone looking for a quiet getaway in the woods!

The 800 sq ft cabin has tons of vintage charm with all the comforts of home. It sleeps up to four (two bedroom lofts--twin and double beds--and a first floor bedroom with a queen bed.) It also has a huge stone fireplace and a modern kitchen with dining area. We have free wifi, hammocks, games, books, and a DVD screen (no TV or cable) with movies.

Pinery is pet friendly for one well-behaved dog. It is not a good place for puppies that chew.

Our place is special and quirky--lots of old open railings and a catwalk (!)--so it's not a good choice for children or those not confident of their footing on stairs, and there is absolutely no smoking allowed.

Interaction with guests

We always greet our guests at the cabin to walk through the quirks of the place, but otherwise you have the place to yourselves.

Beautiful historic cabin! We stayed here with our 6 month old baby and our dog over 4th of July, and it couldn't have been a better spot. Quiet, comfortable- everything we needed to get away and relax in comfort. And all of the historic details were such a joy... the cabin itself is amazing, built from logs harvested on the property back in the day, the fine china was such a delight, and the surrounding forest and river were just the balm needed to restore the soul. Thank you Judith & Gwen for sharing Pinery with us!!

Like camping with running water, electricity and a roof made from logs! We wanted a retreat, and that's what we got -- the best ever!!! The finishing touches inside added to the delights of being outdoors -- helped us to relax, unwind and recharge!! Loved every minute -- definitely want to return!

Just an amazing private location. We were with 2 little boys who loved to hang around the woods in the backyard, explore the river, build a campfire. Everything was perfect!

Absolutely perfect. I can't recommend this cabin enough. I came out by myself for a few days of peace and rest. It was great for that, but also could be fun to share with your family or a few close friends. The cabin has a ton of character but also has all the comforts you need. My favorite part was the short walk down to the river, which is where I spent most of my time. It is in proximity to great hikes and restaurants. Can't wait to come back!

This is the perfect place for an anniversary weekend trip if you are looking to relax with your significant other. The cabin provides great amount of privacy and, the near by river provides great scenery to have a morning coffee at.
