Marta and Alfredo were perfect hosts, and I cannot recommend them highly enough for their attentiveness and easygoing generosity. Friendly people who also good at judging and adapting to visitors' varying preferences for privacy/company. They provided great customized advice on where and how to explore the area. And they gave us a whole shelf in the fridge!

Thank you Cathy, I was anxiously waiting for your feedback. It is very important for me because, besides that we were very excited to have both of you as guests, being yourself also a host, your words have double relevance. Hope to have you again in the future!

Sweet family, but the language barrier is challenging. The house is dated, all appliances are ov(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)'s feel) years old - the wood paneling type of look. The microwave and fridge in the room are old, the microwave is almost dead and barely cooks, you need to double the cooking time of whatever you put in it. CLEANLINESS: The room floor was dirty and hadn't been mopped in a long time - the bottom of my feet were black after the first night. I mopped the room floor myself for my sanity. The kitchen floor is filthy and still is! The carpet in the room was dirty. The rug in the bathroom is also dirty and has not been cleaned in a long time. The bathroom floor was sticky. The carpets they nailed into the stairs was also dirty and you can see the darkness of the dirt, those carpets almost tripped me a couple times. The bed sheets had yellow spots in a few places and a couple tiny old blood stains on it. Proof: The month that I stayed with them, I NEVER ONCE heard a vaccuum or seen a mop used anywhere. Their son had the nerve to lie to me saying they do clean the rooms, I should have showed him the black paper towels I used to clean the floor. I don't fault them on the cleanliness, they can at least try to clean it. Be aware about parking: There is none near the house. You have to park on the street - outside the gated community, on a public street, about a 1000 ft walk depending on what spots are available. If you park anywhere inside the community you can get a ticket (I got a warning). I would give an overall review of 7 of 10, not perfect but not permanently bad. They should make some improvements for the price they are asking. The price should be just North of $900/mo until they provide better appliances and clean the place. And that parking is difficult is also a consideration. I would recommend their house for someone looking for a bed but not much "wow" factor or convienence. They do provide cable TV (not just netflix) and fast internet, and that's good enough for me. We had some disagreements and arguments, but every time I tried bringing up ways to improve their listings, they became hostile about it as if I knew nothing. My mom has 2 AirBnB listings in Arizona with a 4.8 rating over 3 years because of what we do that I tried suggesting to this host. I'm writing a positive criticism review because they do care about hosting, but need to improve on what they do for the listing.

Response from Marta And Alfredo:
First of all, Ryan's negative and positive public and private comments are contradictory. There isn't an alignment between the score he gave us,( 7 to 10) and his criticism, most of them false accusations(URL HIDDEN) In his public review, he complained about PARKING, and this is the point I want to make very clear: MY GUESTS CAN PARK IN MY DRIVEWAY, as it is written in my ads. When Ryan checked in, he parked in the visitor parking lot, which is not allowed for overnight parking. I told him to remove his car from there and bring it to my driveway, he answered that he has no problem to park on the street. Oh! this was so sweet to hear! But, this offer came with strings attached: he requested to pay his second month on Sep 12th instead of the 7th, which I agreed.Another request was, that even though he booked the room for 10 months, there is a chance that he might have to leave earlier if his job wouldn't pan out as planned, or if he finds a full-time job. This conversation happened in the family room even before he went upstairs to see his (URL HIDDEN), I considered this a manipulative behavior, because I gave him a discount based on his 10 months (URL HIDDEN) expressing this, he began walking away from my son and myself. I consider this rude and inconsiderate behavior. Second: He said, "the house is dated, the refrigerator is small and the microwave doesn't function well". Every person that ever walked into our house raved at its beauty. The house was built at the end of 1994 and sold in 1995, plus we have made many renovations over the years. (added columns, an island, mirrors, marble fireplace, travertine floors in the first story and laminate Pergo floors in the second story, plantation shutters in every window, a (URL HIDDEN) looks like a model home! I don't consider a 22 year new, an old house. Regarding the size of the appliances in each room, Ryan is right, they are small, but this is an added benefit/ feature that I offer not to be made out to be negative. What did he expect? A full-size fridge in each room?. I assign each guest a shelf in the big refrigerator, another one in the freezer, plus a drawer in the kitchen. Ryan used all of them. Regarding their functioning, I never receive a complaint about it, therefore, why he didn't tell us about it? As far as his displeasure with the cleanliness of the house, we carefully clean all the common areas, doing it when the guests aren't at home for their own convenience. But the guest's rooms are their responsibility. I allow them to have it/them as clean or as messy as they want, we don't enter into their rooms, they got the keys. It is my responsibility to cleaning them before checking in and after checking out.The same concept I apply regarding sheets and towels. I provide 2 sets and they have free use of the laundry (URL HIDDEN), he ruined the rug with oil, rolled and hidden it under the bed. I invite every future guest to look to the pics and about the 100 reviews of previous guests, staying at my house in Aliso Viejo. All positive. Even Ryan in a private message said the description of the house is accurate. And now, the most important part for another host member of the Airbnb family: Ryan behavior was inappropriate, unrespectful and inconsiderate to my family and my downstairs guest. He felt entitled to change the thermostat temperature at his own disposal, lowering it constantly, without our approval. He let's know that he has a problem with hot temperature, even though his permanent residence is in Tempe, in the metropolitan area of Phoenix, AZ. He kept on lowering it even after we told him to stop. The most severe unrespectful behavior was related to his constant use of derogative terms, screaming them at the top of his lungs while playing video games with the windows and door room open. Comming home very late one night, we heard the loudly screaming.Upon entering the house, the other guest was standing at the front of his room, scared from the yelling and wondering whether or not he needed to call the police. After we talked to Ryan, he stopped for a little time but changed his expression of excitement for another noised and unacceptable behavior: jumping on the chair up and down while playing video games until 3:00 AM or even later. The noise was unbearable. We gave him another chair, where he not only kept on jumping but also screaming again. Notice that he began his review about us mentioning "language barrier" in his first sentence. He mentioned again at the beginning of his private review: "the language barrier is a tremendous challenge" Add his derogative words, one can imply that he doesn't accept ethnic and cultural differences from his own. We couldn't tolerate this attitude any longer. We are professional citizens, living in the states for 27 years, re-evaluated our degrees here and were able to work in our areas of expertise (Social Psychologist my husband and Social Studies Professor/ Spanish teacher me). If our bosses, clients, and students were able to understand us, not to mention our circle of American friends, all of 110 previous come that it was a" tremendous challenge" for Ryan to communicate with us? I think the answer goes without mention it.

We are a very friendly couple who loves to travel, walk along the beach, read and meet people! I was a Geography Professor / Spanish teacher and my husband a Sociologist/ Social Psychologist, working in inner cities helping parents with kids with special needs. He was a professional soccer player in his youth!

We have traveled to many countries around the world. Traveling is our main passion! We went to West and South Europe,(England, Spain, France Austria, Germany, Nederlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Greece and the favorite one: Italy. We went to Far East (China, Thailand, our second favorite) India, and the Middle East (Israel, Dubai, Egypt, Turkey and Tangier. We were also in the South Pacific (Tahiti and her islands), being Moorea our third favorite place. We also traveled to South America( Argentina-our country of origin- Brazil, Uruguay, Bolivia and Peru), Central America (Aruba) North America (Canada and Mexico) and of course many, many places, cities and national parks in our country of adoption, USA.

Things I can't live without: Knowing people from different cultures, (trough traveling or hosting them at our house)family and friends, the beach, internet. My husband can't live without coffee, playing soccer, watching love stories and news on TV.

My favorite shows are related with travel and History: Treasures of the Past, The World Heritage series, Foreign Correspondent.(AWS cannel, only on ATT Uverse) Now I started to watch the Roosevelts on PBS. My husband's favorite stuff are news and soccer, even though he doesn't watch too much of the latest. Don't worry, we have dvr where you can record your fav shows and watch them when you like.

Music we both like are oldies from the 60 trough 80's.

Food:all kind of salads and fruit with steak, fish, chicken, pork or no meat at all. Italian and French cuisine are our favorites as BBQ too.

We have traveled in all the ways: camping, hostels, 4 or 5 stars resorts/ hotels. By ourselves, or in escorted tours, or private tours, using airbnb. By airplane, by train, by ship, by boat, by helicopter, by hot balloon, parasailing,
by car(our own or rental) by motorbike, using public transportation.

When we host people and when we are guests we like to interact but also we like our privacy.

My motto "Live, Laugh, Love" . My husband's : "Live in the present"
