The stunning Chateau de Villette, Historical Monument, classified ISMH, is a concentrate of the history of France From Pepin le bref to Napoleon III .It was once owned by the Cardinal Mazarin who lived here in 1651 during the period of civil war called 'La Fronde'. This defence castle was progressively changed into a country castle (18th and 19th centuries) with 'Jardins à la française and offers a peaceful and timeless environment.
It is located near the Meuse River, in the peninsula of Iges, described by Emile Zola as the camp of miseries. It has been the witness of the French capitulation of Sedan in 1870. There are numerous natural and historic sites nearby.
