The space

The room is spacious with a comfortable new KING SIZE bed 150 X 200cm bed. There is also a writing desk and chairs. There are complementary tea making facilities in the room. The room was recently decorated and is a Victorian claret red colour with silk curtains and antique parquet flooring and has lovely high ceilings.

This Victorian building is well designed as it was built especially for the bank with suitable accommodation for the manager and his family as their home in 1893. In those days the Bank Manager was an important position and the accommodation provided was of a very high standard, spacious and comfortable by the standards of the day. The bank manager and his family occupied the premises from 1893 onwards. Records show they had a live-in domestic servant. The bank commissioned the architect Vincent Craig who was the younger brother of the first Prime Minister of Northern Ireland. The building was constructed by H&J Martin who later went on to build the Belfast City Hall. Today there are no servants! You are invited to stay and experience a little of what the bank manager and his family experienced over 120 years ago!
After the bank abandoned the building during the recession it lay empty and neglected for a number of years going steadily into decline. Thankfully it has now been totally refurbished and and improved and has once again returned to its original use as a family home.

Food is not allowed in the bedroom. Food can be consumed in the reception on the ground floor.

The shared bathroom is large and has a power shower, sink, WC and the original Victorian roll top bath. There are two additional separate toilets on the next floor also.

Guest access

This spacious double bedroom has shared access to the lovely bathroom with walk-in shower on this floor. On the next floor there is another walk-in shower room and two toilets on that level. There is an outdoor area on the ground floor and it is the only area allowed for smoking. The rest of the inside of the building has a strict no smoking policy.

Interaction with guests

I am usually around but I leave it up to the guests to decide on the level of interaction they prefer as this can vary. Most people have plans of how they wish to spend their time visiting Belfast and I can help with any questions you might have about tours or restaurants.

There is unlimited high speed fibre optic wifi so you can download and watch movies on your own laptop.

This place was lovely! Our room was elegant, large, and comfortable. Damien was very communicative with us, explaining parking and coordinating our arrival time. He was also more than willing to provide recommendations of things to do in Belfast.

We had a wonderful stay at Damien's place. He made it into a very special place, with all the sculptures and paintings. And he was very helpfull in giving us information and tips what to do and where to go. Nice big room and bathroom, a kitchen to use and have some tea or coffee and breakfast. Definitely recommend it!

I like to travel abroad and I also spend a great deal of time in London and Ireland. My interest is in conservation and interior design and art. My friends who have stayed with me have encouraged me to open up my home to visitors and share my space.

As someone who travels a lot there is always a shortage of quality accommodation at affordable prices and so being part of a sharing community makes me feel I am helping meet the needs of others. It amazing to think how Airbnb has helped thousands of people like me share our spare rooms, millions of rooms worldwide!
