Folly View is a spacious one bedroom flat with a light and airy aspect. It benefits from having private, independent access. Large windows provide views in all directions and it has a south facing balcony with table and chairs and a view of the folly. There are a weeks worth of scenic walks from the back door. The town of Pateley Bridge with shops and pubs is a ten minute walk. Folly View is furnished to a high standard with a fully equipped kitchen and is an ideal place to escape and relax.

The space
The space is exceptionally clean and bright and uncluttered but also has everything you could need to be independent for a long stay and lots of room for your own stuff including bikes, walking gear and canine paraphernalia. There is a great sense of privacy in Folly View and it also has amazing, long-distance views. The apartment is scrupulously maintained; everything works well, including the central heating and wood burning stove.

Where you’ll be

Bewerley, England, United Kingdom

Folly View is in an historic building that once served as a maintenance hub for the Bewerley Estate, occupied for several centuries by the Yorke family. Even older, is the 14th Century Bewerley Chapel built on a site once occupied by the monks of Fountain's Abbey. It is well worth popping in there during your stay. Fish Pond Wood, two minutes down the road is a full of little wonders, like the ice house and the pond itself, that reflect its importance to the community in bygone years: it is a delight at any time of year. Bewerley has a rural feel to it but the vibrant town of Pateley Bridge is five minutes walk and Harrogate just a 25 minute drive. Nidderdale AONB is full of possibilities for visits and exploration of every kind. We are very close to the Way of the Roses cycle route and the 53 mile Nidderdale Way passes by at the top of the lane. Favoured visits include: Howe Stean Gorge, Scar House reservoir, Toft Gate cafe, Brimham Rocks, Fountains Abbey and Stump Cross Caverns. There are pubs and hotels within walking distance and it's a short drive to find some high end dining. Olley's, the local Italian style restaurant is extremely cosy, but do book to avoid disappointment.

Nicola and I enjoy walking, cycling and sailing. We have three boys and a dog.
During your stay
Folly View is owned and run by Nicola, who works with children with visual impairment, and myself, Quentin. I am recently retired and have most to do with the running of Folly View. We live close by in Bewerley and we are around if you need us but we hope you will be able to manage independently and will be able to enjoy your privacy. We have lived in the area for 20 years so have plenty of advice to give, if needed. Quentin can provide a drop-off and pick-up service for anyone wishing to walk the 53 mile Nidderdale Way, using Folly View as a base.
