Great setup and good concept yet lacking basic things to make this place a good one. The manager mahesh and workers goes out of their way to help all guests. Needs few improvements from management side. Ex. take ownership and followup when you need them. Full detail and pictures of the tree house so guests can take a informed decision when booking. Overall good experience.

Sarai village was just what we were looking for. An actual tree house with climbing involved so not for the frail, bug-hating or faint-hearted! Roy (the actual host on site) was super helpful and we were glad to be able to rent bikes, walk around the lake and relax amongst nature on site. The only downsides were that the place was a little hard to find without directions on their listing and the food at the village was quite pricey for what it was. We had a great time but it might not be for all tastes.

This place is pricey by Sri Lankan standards, on the other hand, it is a tree house. If you're in the area for Yala N.P., like I was, then this proved to be the perfect way to tie in my sleeping accommodations with wilderness experience of the nearby park. I loved the tree house! It was just fun. I felt like a kid again - climbing trees and pretending I was Tarzan.

We stayed at Saraii Village for two days and the place is nice and if you reduce Eco to the fact that the houses are built with wood and earth it hits the spot. Now eco for me means more than that and Saraii Village did not fully meet this expectation. We booked through and the impression we got was that its a charming place, with focus on details, however with two people on duty, who were really nice and helpful, at the same time it seems they were stuggling to keep up with the maintenance of the place. The food was soso and cleary the tree houses are not children friendly, which made us feel worried at the beginning. If you look for tree house experience, with basic comfort the place is spot on - if you ar looking for real "eco" that goes beyond constuction and takes a look at litter, etc and/or a charming place - take something else.

5 star tree house not only with electricity (fan, light, plugs), but also... wi-fi (if your device has good wi-fi receptor), right inside the 'jungle', close to Yala, Tissa, Kataragama. Superb toilet/shower – for common use. If you're not afraid of some mices and lizards playing above your head (but 'behind the curtain') and have some extra $ to spend (that's rather expensive as for Srilankan budget tourism standards) – you won't regret. Trully eco hipster sort of experience. Fantastic food (dinner 1800 lkr/pp – worth every Rupee). That's the way eco business shall be done! I haven't met Charitha herself – she's sort of boss/PR of the village, engaged also in various slow food/eco activities, not 'host' in traditional airbnb style. Anyways, she was kind enough not only to respond my every e-mail in seconds, but also to upgrade me for free to the 'better' tree house. The crew at the village will help you in any way possible (organizing tours, serving delicionus & romantic candlelight dinner). Thank you, evereyone out there.

I set up Saraii Village as I love traveling to this part of the Island, where it's close to the beach and to a host of nature reserves, lakes and historical sites... and the land being Organic is a huge plus too...

I am based in Colombo but I travel frequently to Saraii. Hence, most often I do not get to meet the AirBnB guests, but you will be looked after well by the caretakers and staff at the hotel.

I've open up my treasured getaway to guests as I would like them to enjoy and experience it the same way I have... I am a believer that each of us can do something in our own small way to help others understand why and how to respect and take care of our environment. I welcome all responsible travelers to come see Saraii Village, which will showcase the true essence of Sri Lanka...
