A wonderful base for our Tulum holiday, the cenote was a brilliant bonus, and the breakfasts of fresh fruit and enchilladas was a great start to the day!

Lovely people - really helpful & we got to practice our really bad Spanish! Cenote was incredible - borrowed the kayak to mooch around one day. Lots of wildlife to see on site and on the cenote. The beach is 5 mins walk away - via a beach front hotel. We walked a little further to nomad and ordered a few drinks so that we could use their sun loungers. Sea was warm, clear and bright blue. Breakfast was delicious also - just wish we could have spoken a bit more Spanish to show our gratitude! Only very small downside is the generator switches on at night and is a bit loud, however with the fan on at night we could hardly hear it in our treehouse. Thanks for the stay! A

We had a beautiful time in this extraordinary place. Really special and romantic, if you're after pure nature, calm and rest. Sleeping above the mangroves in a comfy cabaña is quite unique. Such friendly staff. We even decided to prolong our stay and lived there for 11 amazing days we will never forget. Thank you!

MangleX is such a beautiful find on what is often the tacky hotel resorts along the beach. The cabanas were beautiful and very romantic. The room was cleaned and the beds were made every day. This meant all the sand we brought in every day was cleaned away and made our stay very comfortable. The jacuzzi was nice to use to cool down after a long day in the sun. The staff were friendly. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay and we can't thank you enough!

The first thing that I would like to make clear about Manglex is this: DO NOT BOOK THROUGH AIRBNB. There seems to be a lot of staff turnover at Manglex, and consequently it is easy for reservations to get missed, as ours was. We arrived at Manglex to discover that there was no record of our reservation of 5 nights, that we had pre-paid in full. It was an uncomfortable and unsettling way to being our vacation. The manager of Manglex does not speak a word of English, but thankfully, a new staff member Abraham was immensely helpful. He spent hours negotiating on our behalf with the owner of Manglex, Paty, who was in Mexico City. Paty was trying to put us in her apartment in town, refusing to refund us any of the money that we had already paid to enjoy a quiet eco-hut atop a mangrove forest, across from a gorgeous private stretch of beach at the end of Tulum, with a private cenote (the location truly is AMAZING!). This was unacceptable to us, and Abraham was able to convince Paty to allow us to stay for 4 nights. We are SO grateful to him, and he truly did everything he could to make our stay at Manglex perfect. We enjoyed the location so much, and the staff are all lovely. The breakfast, beach across the street and private cenote are wonderful. The property is a true oasis. For our last night in Tulum, Abraham convinced Paty to pay for our stay in a beach front hotel on the other side of Tulum. In the end, Manglex made it right. And Paty owes it to her incredible and dedicated staff for making our experience a great one. I would recommend a stay here, because it truly is a beautiful place with a fabulous staff. But I would recommend booking straight through their website to avoid any issues with double booking: (URL HIDDEN)

Response from Paty:
Hi Emily, we certainly have a great staff and mangleX and are very proud of it :) this is the first time an overbooking through Airbnb happens, and we think it was because of an error with the system we use internally, we are making sure from now on that all of the reservations are registered correctly one by one so this does not happen again, we are very sorry for the inconvenience all this caused and are very happy to read you had a good time at last :) please accept our apologies and thank you for visiting us.

We very much enjoyed our time in tulum. It was close to the beach and ruins, and the cenote was Beautiful. However, from the pictures I expected something a little more secluded and jungle-feeling. Instead it was more like the resorts and hotels that surrounded it. All in all, we very much enjoyed our time. And a big thanks to the staff for helping us get our computer back.
