A charming single-storey cottage overlooking the Mediterranean from the hills, near the Mediaeval village of la Cadiere d'Azur, between Toulon and Marseilles, sleeping a family of four, furnished in Provencal style and very romantic and private. The house is set back well away from the road, closed off with gates and surrounded by woods, in a quiet countryside quarter about 4 km from the ancient village and about 10-15 minutes' drive to the towns of Bandol and St-Cyr and the many lovely beaches.

The space

The real Provence by the sea!

We have had many appreciative comments from our guests, some of whom have returned again and again. The atmosphere is incomparably romantic, private and 'away from it all' yet just a few minutes' drive to beaches, markets, villages and shops.

A detached cottage unseen by others in the secluded hills beyond the old and elegant seaside town and working fishing port of Bandol, located on approximately four acres of terraced slopes on a hilltop with a spectacular view of the Bay of La Ciotat, 'Port Vignoble' is beautifully restored, furnished and equipped, sleeping, ideally, anything from a couple to a family of four. It is centrally air conditioned and heated. Hidden by our pine woods off the country road that runs from Bandol to the ancient village, French doors open onto the large terrace in the front onto an aerial view of the Mediterranean across vineyards descending to the sea. We have two bedrooms, shower room, large kitchen-dining room, sitting room and laundry room. Newly centrally air-conditioned and heated.

Guest access

Two bedrooms, a living room, kitchen/dining room and shower room. The kitchen is fully outfitted and the linens are provided. There is a washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, etc. There is air conditioning and heating (and a fireplace). The most outstanding feature is the outdoors. We have a large terrace overlooking the Mediterranean with spectacular views of both the sea looking towards La Ciotat and the Saint Baume mountain. It is completely private and self-contained, within our own large wooded property of natural beauty.

Our stay in Sweeping Views was fantastic. It's a very cosy house (well equiped and the interrior is as it should be in this area) with a large terras. Every time of the day you can choose a spot in de shadow. The terrain is very big and we found some fossils of sea creatures and there is a hammock our children loved. Suggestions to visit: the 2 calanques in La Ciotat with in calanque du Grand Mugel a very nice restaurant (Le Mugel) with also a sweeping view (Ile Verte), Calanque d'En Vau is nice to, but the walk/climb is far and the water was very (very!) cold and after 11:00 it becomes very busy but for snorkeling it's beautiful. Do not miss the Route des Cretes from Cassis to La Ciotat! Again, we loved Sweeping Views and as someone recommended below --> don't forget your binoculars!

The view of the house is just amazing. Ideal for the ones who search a calm and authentic place. Even if well equipped (washing machine, dryer, oven, air conditioning etc…) the furniture/comfort may seem basic, but it is only what you need during the summer. This is perfect for two adults, but this house is not very tailored for families with young children. Indeed, the access can be problematic (straight and irregular little stairs to get access to the house and very low fences). We also particularly appreciated Barry's efforts from London to get a new washing machine during the week-end of the 15 August(URL HIDDEN)

We had a great time at this beautiful little house on a magnificent location! Barry was very friendly and helpfull. He send us a comprehensive brochure about the house and all there is to do. The terrace is a bit of a challenge with young children, but if worked out fine. We reccommend this place to everyboby.

The photos and description are 100% accurate, I have hardly something to add. The house is charming and the view from the terrace is really beautiful, you can't get enough :-) Situated under pines surrounded by vineyards, you have total privacy, not get in touch with neighbors. Still it's 10 minutes drive from the seaside, either in St. Cyr or Bandol. Definitely recommended.

This is a real gem. It´s fair to say that this place far exceeded our expectations. Not only is the view absolutely breathtaking it´s also wonderfully exclusive. The terrace sits in a perfect spot giving on to the bay of Saint Cyr Sur Mer while remaining hidden from the other few buildings on the hill. The privacy and tranquility were mesmerizing. We felt right at home. The house is very charming, cozy and quaint. All of the furniture and appliances have obviously been handpicked by the Barry in local shops over the years so everything feels authentic and "très provencale". Cooking was a real joy using those wonderful pots, pans and cutlery the kitchen provides. We went to the beach almost every day, which is only a short drive from the house. Fortunately Barry provided us with detailed descriptions of the surrounding areas so we drove to Toulon, Saint Cyr Sur Mer, Ciotat, Cassis and Marseille. Also we discovered the Calanques, a national park with white cliffs which looks like the Caribbean. This was exactly what we had been looking for. Once we had driven through the small gates and closed them behind us the place was ours. We were completely on our own enjoying the ever changing view. I highly recommend this place to anyone who fancies the idea of owning a house in the South of France. This is as close as you´ll ever get. One word of advice though: Don´t forget to bring your binoculars!

Hostitel Barry k fotkám domu přidal poměrně přesný popis a následně nám poskytl vyčerpávající informaci o místě i širším okolí včetně služeb a tipů jak trávit čas.

I'm originally from the US but have lived in London for 40+ years, so would be happy to give some hints and tips. We have had the cottage in France since 1986 and have rented it out to appreciative guests in recent times.
