Just 10 minutes by car from Abergavenny but a peaceful country retreat.
Simple, modern log cabin with open plan sitting/kitchen/dining with double sofa bed & a double bedroom and bathroom. Away from it all: 50 metres from the farmhouse, away from the road and screened by trees. There are board games, books, toys etc.
Garden furniture for sitting out. Farm to wander over. Animals to see. Good places to eat out. Walking in the hills.

The space

The cabin is in the back garden screened by trees from the house. It looks out over fields and gardens.

There is one bedroom with a double bed and a sofa that turns into a good size double in the main living space. The kitchen has a fridge, kettle, toaster, small oven/grill, two ring induction hob (new in response to guest feedback). Lots of bowls, pans, plates, cups etc. Please ask if you need anything else. We provide tea, coffee, sugar and a few cooking things like mixed herbs, salt and pepper.
In the bedroom is a full length mirror, hair dryer, iron, lots of hooks for hanging clothes up and some shelves. The bathroom has shower, toilet and basin and a heated towel rail. We provide towels.
A travel cot and a high chair are available.
The accommodation may suit a couple, a couple with one or two children, or two couples.
Wi-Fi is available in the conservatory in the farmhouse or it can be accessed from outside when its warmer. Mobile phone signals are erratic--some people get much better reception than others.

The thick pine wood walls offer excellent insulation. Electric heating and electric blanket are available if needed so the cabin can be used all year.

Guest access

Guests have the whole space and their own front door. Access is via a short path near a barn with parking. You are welcome to walk over our 70 acres and current farming activities will decide which fields can be safely accessed. There is some private outside space for your use and the lawn is shared with us. You can use the traditional swing and home built climbing frame next to the cabin but you do so at your own risk -- these are not tested to playground standards.

Interaction with guests

We enjoy talking with guests about organic farming and about the local area etc. We can offer recommendations about walks in the hills (maps available) and where to eat and visit locally . We are situated strategically half way between the Walnut Tree (1 Michelin star) and the Hardwick restaurants. We can recommend other, less expensive restaurants and pubs locally too. We are two of the founders of the Abergavenny Food Festival and have a particular interest in food.

Other things to note

We accept well behaved dogs but they need to be under control outside at all times as the ducks wander everywhere and there are often lambs and sheep in the orchard or paddocks near the house. We don't want dogs left on their own to whine or bark while their owners go out for long periods, We have a boisterous young dog ourselves and two outdoor barn cats have adopted us and are usually around.

This place is just wonderful. The pics do not do it justice. Tessa is lovely and very welcoming, she could not have done more. The cabin is very cosy and comfortable and the area around it is just beautiful. We will be back.

This was a lovely place to stay. It's in a very peaceful location yet easy to get to surrounding areas. Tessa was very helpful and the cabin has all the basics you need for a self catering break. Great value.

Staying in the cabin was like being cradled in green....wonderfully nestled and private yet near to the farmhouse if we needed anything. The cabin was great with more space than expected, we cooked all our meals there and both the bed and soft bed were really comfortable. Easy access to field walks and to the more demanding walks in the Beacons. Chris and Tessa are lovely and we felt very relaxed around them. Fell in love with their dog! A great stay and difficult to relinquish the rural life.

Our family of 3 really enjoyed staying in the log cabin. Tidy and thoughtful. Also met Tessa s family who were lovely people. Great place for a quiet getaway.

We wanted somewhere peaceful, quiet and away from the chaos that’s out normal life. Oh wow – what we found here was just what the doctor ordered. The farm is completely off the beaten track, but somehow still close enough to town that you can just “pop into town” when you run out of milk. There’s literally no traffic that goes past the farm, so the only sounds you have to deal with is the wind in the trees, the livestock and any sound-effects that go along with your favourite board game. If you’re looking for a hidey hole to escape, I really recommend this one.

We had a very peaceful and restful stay at the cabin, Tessa and her husband were great hosts - very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The cabin was nice and cosy, with well-equipped and well-organised kitchen area to allow us to cook our meals at our own convenience. The cabin is a very short drive away from Abergavenny, a picturesque market town, with lots of nice shops, a castle and a museum, and beautiful views over the surrounding hills. Lots of walking, hill-climbing and nature-watching activities in the area.

Lovely wooden cabin with complete kitchen supplies on a farm 10 min from Abergavenny. Good spot from which you can explore the brecon beacons. Cabin was spotless on arrival. Tessa and her husband were welcoming and even helped us out with our car that broke down. We would really recommend this cabin!
