Just 10 minutes by car from Abergavenny but a peaceful country retreat.
Simple, modern log cabin with open plan sitting/kitchen/dining with double sofa bed & a double bedroom and bathroom. Away from it all: 50 metres from the farmhouse, away from the road and screened by trees. There are board games, books, toys etc.
Garden furniture for sitting out. Farm to wander over. Animals to see. Good places to eat out. Walking in the hills.

The space
The cabin is in the back garden screened by trees from the house. It looks out over fields and gardens.

There is one bedroom with a double bed and a sofa that turns into a good size double in the main living space. The kitchen has a fridge, kettle, toaster, small oven/grill, two ring induction hob (new in response to guest feedback). Lots of bowls, pans, plates, cups etc. Please ask if you need anything else. We provide a few cooking essentials like salt and pepper, mixed herbs and sugar.
In the bedroom is a full length mirror, hair dryer, iron, lots of hooks for hanging clothes up and some shelves. The bathroom has shower, toilet and basin and a heated towel rail. We provide towels.
A travel cot and a high chair are available.
The accommodation may suit a couple, a couple with one or two children, or two couples.
Wi-Fi is available in the conservatory in the farmhouse or it can be accessed from outside when its warmer. Mobile phone signals are erratic--some people get much better reception than others.

The thick pine wood walls offer excellent insulation. Electric heating and electric blanket are available if needed so the cabin can be used all year.

Guest access
Guests have the whole space and their own front door. Access is via a short path near a barn with parking. You are welcome to walk over our 70 acres and current farming activities will decide which fields can be safely accessed. There is some private outside space for your use and the lawn is shared with us. You can use the traditional swing and home built climbing frame next to the cabin but you do so at your own risk -- these are not tested to playground standards.

Other things to note
We accept well behaved dogs but they need to be under control outside at all times as the ducks wander everywhere and there are often lambs and sheep in the orchard or paddocks near the house. We don't want dogs left on their own to whine or bark while their owners go out for long periods, We have a boisterous young dog ourselves and two outdoor barn cats have adopted us and are usually around.

The farm is set in a valley just 10 minutes out of Abergavenny but a world away from the town. We are near the Brecon Beacons National Park and surrounded by farm land where traditional dairy, beef and sheep farms are interspersed with holdings for horses and some chicken farms. There are lots of possibilities for walking, cycling, mountain biking, and other outdoor activities locally in the Brecon Beacons and the surrounding countryside. There's a cycle/walking tarmac path up an old railway line leading from Llanffoist to Bryn Mawr (with a gap). It's easy to walk to Govilon up this track then walk back along the canal towpath to Llanffoist.
There’s a short walk to the top of the Little Skirrid directly from the farm.

Abergavenny is a lively country town. The main market is on Tuesdays. It's worth visiting the Market Hall just to see the huge decorations which go up each year for the Food Festival. Smaller markets happen over the week. There are quite a few independent shops, loads of places to have coffee, some good places to eat. There's a small, modern two screen cinema (for an old fashioned cinema feel try the Savoy in Monmouth or the Working Men's Club in Blaenavon). The attractive 300+ seat Borough Theatre is housed upstairs from the Market Hall.

I’m partly retired but still teach three yoga classes. I also help look after our two grandchildren (with another expected). Chris, my partner, runs the farm though I help out occasionally. Among other things we both like reading, walking and cycling and we enjoy cooking and eating. We’ve been at the farm for 30 years.

During your stay
We enjoy talking with guests about organic farming and about the local area etc. We can offer recommendations about walks in the hills (maps available) and where to eat and visit locally . We are situated strategically half way between the Walnut Tree (1 Michelin star) and the Hardwick restaurants. We can recommend other, less expensive restaurants and pubs locally too. We are two of the founders of the Abergavenny Food Festival and have a particular interest in food.
